The market had been located outside the temple until just prior. Bringing it inside was a recent move by the religious leaders to enrich themselves. In so doing, they violated the purpose of the temple courts. There was no problem when the market was outside the temple. And this was a hotly debated topic I have heard. This may explain the guard's hesitation to obey the commands of the priest.

That would make sense if it were true. I have never heard this explanation before but it would explain why something that had gone on before had now so irked Jesus. Most Christian’s don’t understand what purpose the money changers/animal sellers served for the temple.

Interesting. An explanation I've heard before is that the religious authorities in the temple were not allowing people to come with their own animals to sacrifice, but were requiring people who would make sacrifice to buy it from the temple.

I think the Sadducees (the political elites) controlled the temple in Jerusalem and were making lot's of money from it. Not allowing people to bring their own animals to sacrifice it in the temple and to buy it from them at a profit of 1000 - 1500%. The Pharisees were the religious leaders controlling the Synagogues (the seat of Moses).

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. He shall not return into the land of Egypt, and the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return. And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels. And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him. Hosea 11 3-7

The Gospel of John, chapter 10, says Jesus walked in Solomon's porch, which was along the eastern wall. Also, Acts 5:12 says the early Church would meet in Solomon's porch (colonnade). The early Church probably met in Solomon's porch because Jesus liked to meet and teach there. I haven't read anything about Jesus teaching at the Royal Stoa area, although He may have.

He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. Yesha'Yahu 66 3 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. There is some debate as to what Jesus said. "Den of thieves" / "Den of robbers:"....my understanding is that the word "parits" (in the original text) should be translated to "violent ones" or "murderers". If Jesus called the Temple a "Den of Murderers" it challenges the traditional interpretation of his motivations in Matthew 21:12 and we should be having a much broader conversation about the mas slaughter of animals.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. Hosea 4 6-9

OK, that's true. It's the best learning about some events by original language. But, Hebraic language is difficult to learn, because there are many words with different meaning. Than, yes,the Jewish believe in Moses like massay, but the Christian people believe in Isus. The bought of them were Jewish. I think there is some difference, but sometimes,I think, like belief being, what's thru is. Anyway, it's useful to have a knowledge about both of events. And, just one, please. I know every work has own price, but do you think to approach some of these material, not free, but just more extensive on KZbin chanal? Thank you.

old testament Amos 5 21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. 22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. 23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. 24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. 25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? 26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. 27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, whose name is The God of hosts.

Truth is one. The only difference is the way it is explained. Truth has no denominations or national boundaries. Recovering the lost value of human beings is salvation. When things don’t work, change the method. Then they will work out more ideally. When the righteous face great trials and tribulations, the wicked think that the righteous are being punished for their sins. However, through their trials, the righteous receive even greater blessings. Words of wisdom if you’re going to do the work anyways, why do you have to reveal your shallowness? Since you’re going to do it anyways, do it without showing how shallow you are.

Look Klaudiosable, I'm not here to debate with you. This person is describing things from his perspective which is correct. Are there even more correct ways of understanding the so called "cleansing of the Temple?" yes of course. Remember, this person giving a Hebrew context might not be a Christian and therefore isn't giving a Christian perspective. Take it easy, Stefos

Perhaps he is giving us a Zionist point of view. Remember that Jews today run the fraudulent accursed money system we live in today and they want to establish Jerusalem with its temple as the capital of the world. The truth is maybe hidden intentionally or unintentionally, I don't know. Okay, so "amim" means "peoples". I get it but I already knew it. This video does not enlighten us over nothing at all using the Hebrew language. It's empty. So long, Klaudiosable

HI Claudius you are on the right track --if you replay it a number of times he clearly stated at the end of the video falsely that Christs action was not to cease commercial activity in the temple --this is the most bizarre view you could imagine when overhead he shows the words ROBBERS --THIEVES in the bible quotes . he does not dare state who the robbers and thieves are or how they carry out their thieving and robbery --now that would be some video if you know who ( current temple management )would allow us to watch it . denis

It is my understanding that Yeshua, in all HE did when castigating the Pharisees et al, was to rebuke them for the additions that they added on that were not commanded by GOD. We see additions to what God said in the Torah all the way through the rest of the Tenakh, and more hedges were built after the captivity to His birth and up to the time of His death, burial and resurrection and ascension back to the FATHER. And now there is even more added since the council of Yavne and later by so called "men of wisdom" who first changed Judaism from Mosaic to Platonic to eventually Aristotelian.

HI The ' Hedges' that the rulership built, were NOT in the Tanach![ Which is the Prophets,Psalms and Writings] They were in the ' Oral Torah' which ended up as the Talmud, causing Yeshua to say ' You teach for doctrine the PRECEPTS OF MEN, making the Word of God of none effect' Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua.

I am quite turned off, by this organization. You have a nice pretty young lady & a nice handsome young man, as your faces, to our outside social world. This sight, would do better, if you simply started your programs, by an actual clearly stated self identification. My own background, as a son of a Jewish Dad & Danish Lutheran Mom, is very hospitable to Christian missionary practices. However, I would rather go to the one of your rivals. I am very happy to learn to watch Hebrew, taught by Christians, up front , with their Christian identity. The Christian identity of Hebrew teachers, is NOT AN OFFENCE, at all. The simply stated Christian identity of Hebrew teachers, should be clarified, right away. To be forced, to go through umpteen steps, before I get the inside scoop, regarding the true Christian identity of anybody else, is really profaning Jesus of Nazareth's role. If there was, in fact , a real JudaeanHebrew individual, we call, Jesus of Nazareth, he would have at least NOT tried to hide his insider identity. Jewish teachers, the Rabbis, were constantly in social discourse, regarding their individual ideas, regarding the older Mosaic teachings. That is part of the pre-Christian Babylonian Talmud. The whole idea, that Jesus of Nazareth, would have been actually, a candidate for the primary election, as the best Pharisee, as compared with his rival Pharisees, is quite clear from the Gospels. That primary Pharisee campaign for "THE" JudaeanHebrew teacher was at least, as rough & tumble, as any primary today. The Rabbis were the Pharisees. The Pharisees were the teachers of the Noah-ide rainbow covenant, with the "nations" of our one human race. The Gospel, Red Letter quotes & their platforms of social discourse, show the students of Jesus of Nazareth, calling him, "Rabbi". That name, Rabbi, was the name for the Pharisees. However, you Christian missionary, Jews for Jesus, would do well, to show your inside mission to us, your clientele. We are your outsider public market. I would rather watch a lively straight faced missionary, explicitly, identifying his mission, on the outside. My current favorite, is a very lively Lutheran seminary teacher of Hebrew. He is very up front, on the outside, right away. He is a pleasure, to listen to, while I am laying down. I have no sense of an insider's sales pitch. That in rather amazing, that you talk of The Jesus of Nazareth party caucus for the election & final anointing as the Messiah, the royal Deliverer from the Roman empire occupied JudaeanHebrew nation. Then you talk of the mercantile handlers, Jesus erupted at. Do you even realize, the ways, you seem to be Messiah politics, handlers? Do you realize, you would do much better, with your very interesting, stylized & scholarly ways, if you simply identified your market consulting practices? You are great social image makers. I wish you would have been straight & upright. I wish you would be a blessing on the JudaeanHebrew mission to be alight to the nations. However, you are a curse on the JudaeanHebrew nation. That is very sad, indeed. You could actually perform a great social blessing on our one human race. However, you failed to avoid the very thing you identify, as the object of Jesus of Nazareth's scorn. You are insider messiah campaign handlers. It is a real sad thing, that you do not realize your beauty, could be real bridge, to our human race. Please go to any website for Noah's 7 laws for the human race. Try to look up the seven laws of Noah's rainbow covenant website. Noah's 7 laws for the human race, word searches, will produce endless, actual Judaean Hebrew teachings, These asre the actual teachings Jesus of Nazareth , would have learned, as a Jewish candidate for King of the Jews. Jesus of Nazareth, was simply a candidate the JudaeanHebrews, did not choose. It is kind of akin to folks choice of Malcolm VS. Martin. The Jewish nation wanted a Malcolm rather than a Martin. Also, just try to take a little time, to actually learn to present a real social discourse, about actual Jewish teachings about the whole human race. Just try to familiarize your teachers, with the actual prayers, that are the recitals, Jewish men say & read, every day of their lives. God blesses ALL THE HUMAN RACE. God blesses all his creation. God blesses all his creatures. God blesses all, calling on God. God lifts all, calling on God. God redeems, ALL calling on God to redeem us ALL. God redeems all the human race. God, the creator of the universe, saves all his creation. Gods lifts up all , with the breath of life. There is plenty of room for an actual social discourse, regarding these crucial points. The candidate for King of Judaea, was & still can be a real blessing for our human race, in our social totality. That can be a really vital social discourse. However, beauty on the outside, is no substitute for the outer honest social discourse. The insiders' sales approach, is a real example of the very kind of election handling, that I would have been a s angry at, as Jesus of Nazareth was, according to the Red Latter quotes & their contexts, in the Christian Gospel's.
