We know that God knew everyone was still going to spread the news of these miracles around. If he really didn't want the news to get out he would have shut up their lips, or not had it recorded in scripture. I think this is Jesus way of showing that particular individual that the healing was JUST FOR THEM, not for the whole world to know about. It's just like today, God might heal someone from Cancer. But he doesn't do it just so that he will be recognized for it, but rather because it was something he wanted to do for that person.

From my own experiences and understanding, I believe that Jesus knew that spreading of such news would cause his mission to be over very quickly. Perhaps He wanted (or needed) to perform more miracles and establish more of a firm understanding of His purpose/mission to His disciples before it was finished. It is a good question. I thought the answer was good, but it didn’t sit too well with me. Different minds and learning styles. There’s nothing wrong with that at all :)

I think you missed the point of her question. I believe she wanted to know why Jesus healed the leper and told him not to tell anybody.
@Canukhed4 жыл бұрын
He did answer the question. In Mark 1:44-45, Jesus did not want the people blocking His preaching and teaching of the Gospel. What happened was that people wanted to see His miracles, rather than hear Him speak and proclaim the Gospel.

Jesus told them not to preach about their miracle because people dont want to hear the truth. If you go around preaching about a miracle that happened to you; all of the evil people will build an army against you. Your coworker doesn't want to hear about God helping you, if you tell them about these things, they'll build an army against you. You can't force people to wake up, they have to truly want it. And if you try to get them to see the truth, they'll all focus their hate on you.

Ummmm 🤨 Jesus told them not to tell many things until a certain time or at all because it was about TIMING things right or to not bring attention to things until the specific time so that things would happen in a certain way and to assure that they wouldn’t prevent his crucifixion- he came to be both the example & the sacrifice for all!

By giving orders not to advertise His miracles, Jesus was emphasizing that He wasn't here to give a political stance and a "magic show" (miracles), but to fulfill His Father's will, preach the Gospel, fulfull the prophecies, laws and rituals of the Old Testament, and be the Saviour of the world.
@jeremymwilliams4 жыл бұрын
That is a great explanation.

In searching, I found the following which makes sense to me: Jesus did not want people focusing on the miracles He performed, but rather the message He proclaimed and the death He was going to die. The same is true today. God would rather that we be focused on the healing miracle of salvation through Jesus Christ instead of focusing on other healings and/or miracles.
@Shindler393 жыл бұрын
@@jeremymwilliams That is correct, Jesus feared that people would only focus on His miracles, and overlook His real reason for coming into the world to save us from our sins. This situation has direct application to us today. Many ministries focus on stories of the miraculous (Pentecostal) accounts of healing and deliverance bring people to the door. But all the healing in the world is useless if the people refuse to listen to how they can be spiritually healed for eternity. When we experience miracles in our own lives, we must be careful. Telling others will encourage them to find out the truth about Jesus for themselves, however it could also lead to bitterness when God doesn't give them exactly what they want.

You know, I think it would be better if you would read us the scriptures and then explain as you go along, because I find your video thoroughly confusing and very unconvincing

@jimskinnermusicetc.811 Thanks for the suggestion. Yes. This was a discussion about the cleansing of the leper in Luke 5:12-16 and the resurrection of Jairus' daughter in Luke 8:39-56. After Peter confessed Him to be the Christ, the Son of God, Jesus instructed the disciples to tell no one (Mk. 8:27-30; Matt. 16:13-20). After the Transfiguration, Jesus instructed Peter, James, and John to tell no one until after the His resurrection (Mark 9:2-9; Matt. 17:1-9). Jesus even instructed folks from the Decapolis to not tell about the healing of the deaf man, but would not keep silent (Mk. 7:31-37).

You didn't answer that AT ALL! Are you human? Do you not have ears? You've rambled off into something that has nothing to do with the question! How frustrating it is to listen to you!

Perhaps he did not know the answer? I think Jesus wanted to keep His miracles low key because word would get around and he would be too swamped to travel unhindered Like the 5000 that followed Him. He had an agenda and it was too soon to expose Himself as messiah. He had places to be and certain people to heal before that happened. Also His disciples were with Him as witness to His works.

1. He did want people to think that he only worked miracles ; 2. He did not want his teaching work to be attribute to the fame of miracle of healing sickness or diseases; 3.he did not want to be exposed in death before he had finished his work. God bless all.
