I've read the manga, but for Studio Bones to get all these animators for this fight specifically is so fucking amazing. Bones and every animator who put this work into this episode truly loves this series as much as every fan.

Like i said in some other Mob video, there is a misundersanding among fans that Mob designs are easy to animate and simple. In reality i saw some interesting tweets lately of Kameda and other animators talking about how Mob designs are actualy harder and trickier to draw than average .To the point that bunch of animators were hesitant to join the production because of them. Its easy to think "oh lower line count so easier" but the oldschool pencil touches , purposefull roughness and executing simple designs soulfully is actualy an art that fewer and fewer animators ,even great ones, can instinctively do

I'd add to this the really nice sand animation cut by Miyo Sato, and some really nice, subtle compositing. The storyboards and bg layouts were relatively simple (since half the episode's in a broccoli, and the other half is in the sky) but worked really nicely. The simple visual language of separating Mob and Dimple, before removing the barrier is simple but effective. This episode was a standout, in a standout show in a standout season. Nice coverage!

The shot of the broccoli mobs flying out of the giant broccoli with the rotating camera was a shot I had to keep rewatching. The use of colors and compositing combined with the continuous shot is jawdropping. I didn’t know the animator also worked on Cowboy Bebop! The fight scenes in that are amazing.
@beepbeep24462 жыл бұрын
It’s amazing the different idiosyncrasies we can see between the animators, but Hayashi’s stand out to me Hayashi I’ve noticed tends to put a ton of weight into his animation with every hit his characters do, in this fight he does a great job emphasizing that. On the other hand he has bouncy character animation in between that with Dimple’s reaction to seeing the Helmet-sama clones fire a “godly beam”. His loose to heavy push and pull style really benefits and makes his scenes feel unique
@forgottenrelics11972 жыл бұрын
yesss loved that reaction, forgot to mention it in the vid, his animation is so lively no matter what the nature of the scene is

I saw in the comments on a Taiwanese sakuga channel that apparently Chihching Lai has helped credit the sequence at 6:05 as Osamu Murata's LO with heavy corrections from Kameda. Couldn't find his tweet about it, but it could very easily be on another social media post or something? Booru also has it tagged presumed Murata for now. Edit: the Mob Psycho official twitter account posted the genga and confirmed it as Murata 👍
@forgottenrelics11972 жыл бұрын
That would make the most sense. Everything before and after looks like Murata and I thought it odd for Kameda to go uncredited so I was leaning toward heavy corrections. Interesting that Kameda even changed the timing. Thank ya for the update!

@TromboneGamer2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreyali1456 Part of it was the mixed bag of narrative decisions, but yeah, they dropped the ball in a lot of the climax points toward the end. I think a lot of that had to do with the lighting and atmosphere in the outdoor scenes. It was so bright most of the time when in the manga those scenes had a much darker feeling to the artwork. Deku vs. Shigaraki generally lacked the intensity I expected from the manga.
