0:45 "Was drafted by Mighty Ducks of Anaheim" Shows St Louis Blues jersey

Paul Kariya was one of the most talented and dynamic players in NHL history with-out any doubt. The chemistry with Teemu Selanne was legendary season after season they worked like a lightning with scoring and always found each-other at the most difficult angles to score goals. The sad part was that Anaheim was SO CHEAP on signing a strong back-up to him, and we talk Disney here, who had the deep pockets and the heavy salery-roofs was a decade away so unlike Colorado, Detroit, Rangers, Penguins etc. who aquired great players to support there stars, Anaheim was like "Nah we are fine here in our burning house". And Scott "b@stard" Stevens murdered his career with his dirty hits to the head like to so many others.

Good video but while the injuries did cut his career short, it wasn't like he left after a few seasons. 15 seasons is still a good NHL career.

5:28 "His helmet flying off as he lie motionless on the ice" and proceed to show the clip of him laying on the ice, helmet on head. Do you even watch these clips?

The NHL has never protected players since the 60's . The type of violence by Gary Suter is an example of the history the league has encouraged. Bobby Orr was crippled by players who were unable to play at his level. Conor McDavid was injured in his rookie year by an illegal hit by a Philly Flyer.. The league is about money. Not sport. The commissioner is a joke. If you call the penalties and suspend players for injuring their fellow professionals you will stop most of the severe injuries and career shortening problems. Unless the owners step up and deal with the gratuitous violence players will pay the price,owners will get rich and the game will collapse into history.

Paul Kariya is to the NHL what Derrick Rose is to the NBA. Except in the case of Kariya he was intentionally targeted by dirty players who couldn't hold a candle to him on the ice.

Uhm no, his helmet, quite clearly, didn’t fly off anywhere.

I thought the same thing. It's like these KZbinrs don't even watch the clips they show. It's pathetic and lazy journalism. And this is why they practice their "journalism" on KZbin.

It is a shame that Scott Stevens is in the Hockey hall of fame. He is the reason I still hate the Devils......

It's a shame that one of the best defenseman in history is in the HoF? Probably a Flyers fan. If you thought Scott Stevens was brutal you should watch 90% of the NHL players pre-1985. His career was the tail end of one era of the NHL and into the modern era. I'm sorry you couldn't handle it.

@@BookemDanno311 I am a Habs fan. To take out players like that is unnecessary. To end careers on purpose is a cowardly act and I don`t think that cowards belong in the HoF at all. BTW. Hockey is way more fun to watch now...

@@BookemDanno311 Here you are again, mis-stating everything as though your own personal reality was the one everyone else should live by. The game is VASTLY better off without players like him. His era will eventually be known as the dark time due to the ignorance around brain trauma and the obtuse attitudes of the owners, players, and fans, toward players suffering this type of injury.

Stevens should have been banned from the league even as a spectator for that hit. That was attempted murder.

that is not hockey, that is assault, so many players careers have been ended with these chickenshit take downs.

Well said, but Stevens has his fans who think his hits were all within the rules, which they weren't ...
@perttihirsikorpi98374 ай бұрын
@@rogerzotti1but youll have to give him some credit.. he was a true master of hiding those elbow hits, like this Kariya hit for example. Slow motion shows how ugly it really was.

No, it's hockey. It's been part of hockey for 100+ years. It was normal play just a couple generations ago. It might not be hockey as you have watched and understood, but I assure you, it's a big part of hockey's history.
