So what current or 80s real life person/character would make a great addition to the G.I.Joe or Cobra teams?

It is wild and awesome that Sarge is having a renaissance in the collector and toy world right now. While I wasn't a fan of Sarge in ARAH, I was a huge wrestling fan as a kid, and Sarge turning heel was a great storyline for the time. Now, as an adult, I am loving the Sarge in his different iterations in MOTU, Action Force, and that Transformers/Joe Crossover. I've seen and chatted with him at local Cons and toy shows, super nice dude IRL. Also, Action Force was an original toy line separate from the Joes in the early 80s, but the Brit company that produced them got bought out and merged into Hasbro in the mid to later 80s. It's sort long story, and the only reason I mention this is that the original figures and vehicles from the classic Action Force line are super cool. Definitely worth a look.
@StoriesFromTheToyshelfАй бұрын
I think that the renaissance of Sarge is part of the bigger pop culture boom that's been going on. Either way it's really nice to see all these people getting their just due and recognition for all the work they did back in the 80s 👍👍 I didn't know that about Action Force. I just thought it was the name given to Joes when brought over to the UK. Cool will check it out. The new Valaverse AF is cool but for me lacks any personalities in the characters. I'm assuming all of those are new stuff? Not based on the original AF?
@hgc7000Ай бұрын
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Correct, the new Action Force is comprised of new characters. (other than Sarge) The creator was worked out a deal where Sarge appears as the grizzled veteran, which I think is awesome. There are comics that flesh out the team, but not everyone has picked those up and some of the media can be found on Amazon and the Valaverse website. I got into the line early on, and I do think the line would do better with a little more story output. But, it's been fun/interesting seeing where it goes.

@hgc7000 yeah for what they are they look cool but lack a little bit of visual flair in their designs IMHO. But I guess it opens the door for more customization down the line! 👍

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I liked and got the MOTU Classics Mattel did, so I skipped the more recent retro line, otherwise I would have ebayed that thing in a heartbeat. I wasn't much of a wrestling fan, but I certainly appreciate the Sarge!
@StoriesFromTheToyshelfАй бұрын
@cheeseburger12 same! I was pretty much all in on classics so I also passed on all the later lines. These were compatible with their current origins line which was cool. As much as I loved watching wrestling...that love didn't translate much to wrestling toys. And the one time I picked up a wrestling toy in the store to "check out" my wife immediately shot it down 🤣
@ScaryGarrySG1Ай бұрын
It was said that wrestling was in a down period in 1990-1991, but I wouldn't have known. G.I Joe and Wrestling were my 2 biggest loves...still are! No one who wasn't around for this could understand just how huge this was. I was devastated LOL! The whole thing seemed to happen so fast, but was playing off of the real-world conflicts of the time, as it happened. And there was such attention to detail in WWF then...,in storyline Sgt Slaughter returned because Nikolai Volkoff had embraced America in the post-USSR fall and it made Sarge downright sick! It could be said that Volkoff wasn't exactly someone on the roster than fans were dying to see, but even the "worst guy" had major implications on what happened in the WWF by causing Sarge to return. What a time!
@StoriesFromTheToyshelfАй бұрын
Yeah! I was more of a casual at the time but I was more upset that Sarge beat the Ultimate Warrior for the belt 😅 as I was a HUGE warrior fan. Volkoff's defection was nice in the sense that the bolsheviks had been heel jobbers for so long I felt good for the guy, but even back then I knew that. Story wasn't gonna go anywhere 😅 kinda like when virgil broke off from the million dollar man. Feel good story but you know some wrestlers got "it" and others don't. But yeah great times nonetheless! 👍👍👍

As a kid Slaughter was my second favorite Joe. I didn't see much of his in ring work I didn't get into wrestling until Stone Cold. Last year for my birthday I got the classified Slaughter and as soon I can I'm getting the Triple T / Kup. ( cute side story last year I bought a house and duplex so in January I bought an 98 Dodge Dakota I named Kup) But I'm starting to get as many Joes as Transformers. So to end off on who do I think would be awesome as a real life Joe Ross Chastain he's a NASCAR driver they can him the Watermelon man and his the first driver in years to have had a rule made because of his move of riding the wall. But as always great video thank you so much for taking the time to make them for us and I'm looking forward to the next one. Life has been crazy the last month so I have been watching I just haven't been able take time to comment. I hope you and your family are doing well and have a wonderful day good sir see you in the next one

Hey great to hear from you again brother! No worries about the comments, we all got lives together lead but I really appreciate the views! I don't follow NASCAR so I'm not familiar with Chastain but will read up on him :) what does riding the wall mean? Must have been quite controversial to lead to a rule change to manage! Anyway like I said great to hear from you and stay safe as well! Til the next one!
@TheDuck632Ай бұрын
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf oh he's awesome and riding the wall in a move in NASCAR video games you put right side of the car against the wall grab fifth gear and floor it. The speed pins you to the wall and you can go flat out. Over the years a few drivers have tried and failed to pull it off he pulled it off a few years ago if you look up "Hail Melon" or his name and wall ride on KZbin you can find it. But depending on who you talk to some may call him a heel or a Babyface. I love his style but Dale Sr is my hero so I guess I like the heels

In the late 90's, WCW had become far more entertaining than WWE. Especially with the NWO/WCW storyline & the rise of Goldberg. Putting him & Hitman together as a tag team was brilliant! Wasn't The Fridge part of the Marauders?

I remember watching Nitro at the time and thinking what the hell is going on with almost every week another new heel turn would be added to thebNWO ranks! Considering Vince McMahon is as vindictive as the Cobra Commander, as business-savvy as the Crimson Twins and as subtle as Serpentor, I wouldn't be surprised if Slaughter not cutting him in on the GI Joe deal is what caused that heel turn. Man, your wrestling federation sounds way more organized than the ones my friends and I ran. We each had our own branch of it and were so out of step with each other that one friend made a Wolverine play the role of an e-fed user's character he was annoyed by just to job out in one match but I kept him around for my branch because it seemed like a waste. The third one of us was SO out of step with us that he was set in the future and ran literal death matches because he could clone all of his competitors back to life. We kept track of our own champions and feuds, but there was definitely no graph paper and trading statistics with us, heheheheheh!
@StoriesFromTheToyshelfАй бұрын
Yes that's exactly what I thought regarding Mcmahon 😅 have you seen the documentary? I haven't yet but will hopefully get to it this weekend :) I dunno...your federation sounds WAY more interesting! Clones? Resurrections? Sign me up! I also used to play "death joes" wherein basically EVERYONE DIES in gruesome and creative ways 🤣

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I haven't seen the documentary yet because I only recently learned that it did interview wrestlers and people from within WWE (the way other people made it sound, they didn't talk to anyone on the inside and I didn't know why they'd do that). sarge was always iconic as a GiJoe and when he appeared in wwf I could not understand how a cartoon became alive and how and why he was now a wrestler... even less on the opposite side; it was just "the show"; never cared learning about it and now youtube suggests this; fun vid. I too played with the gijoe series for wrestling but just for the moves. To include the bots was a cool idea. Somewhere on youtube, there's a wrestling show that has made a few matches with a wrestler playing a robot character; the only way to win is to use water, I think. Japan has a few fun matches with wrestler fighting a mannequin as if it was possessed. But maybe you've already seen it.
