So we got another cabinet in which I can place the A10 nicely and still has enough space on the edges (thanks to IKEA). The change of the living room had so much impact on the sound quality that I really get this same feeling. Its simply gorgeous. A lot of comments say that you can use EQ between the pre-out and amp-in connectors. Actually you can't. The Amp in is selected in the menu and the amplifier goes into power amp mode and receives signal ONLY from the amp in input. That's it. Therefore you can only use an external pre-amp or use it in a HT-bypass situation when the Amp-in is engaged.

AMP IN - From the manual: If you only want to use the power amplifier section of your A12 Classic, you can connect another preamplifier or audio mixer on L/R AMP. IN jacks.
@billwoods93029 ай бұрын
I'm not positive, but the AMP IN terminal is likely a PRE-AMP input, because it is located right next to AMP OUT. The labeling is a little confusing, but those inputs may just be a pre-in/out loop for an EQ, or some other type of signal processor. I love the way the amp looks, but my only concern is if the 190 watts it produces at 4 ohms would be enough to authoritatively drive my Magnepan 1.6 QR's. Overall, revisiting previously reviewed equipment is a good idea Randy. The more time you spend with a component, the more familiar you become with what it offers, and whether or not it holds up over the long term considering its price. This is an endgame product for those on a budget, so it's very important for prospective buyers in that category to know if it's a wise investment.

@@fofocho71 You are right, it is inconvenient, unfortunately. I have no clue why they didn't put a menu button on the remote. But I usually listen to atmos music, so I don't have to switch it very often when I want to listen to CDs without going through the receiver. But if you are asking about switching to AMP IN everytime you turn the A10 on, then you don't have to. It stays in AMP IN mode until you turn it off manually.

Thing is: you can have the same experience in the car, or from an old boombox around a campfire, or from a live band…IF ANY type of art, from music to poetry to paintings to comedy MOVE YOU EMOTIONALLY…to laugh, cry or fill your imagination, then you KNOW its good! I hear The Beatles 1/2 speed masters on a $50,000 stereo and I was amazed. But I heard it on my paltry $5000 stereo and was also moved. Saw The Doors play Light my fire live, wow! But I still get worked up when it comes over the car radio. Even if I think about “The End” by the Doors…it moves me beyond belief…due to the Vietnam connection. Whenever I hear some of Robbie Robertsons contemporary Native American music it makes me very emotional because half my family is Native American…and I get it! Mozart….enough said. Did you drop it on your foot? Pre Out/Amp In (preamplifier out/power amplifier in) are useful if you want to add outboard effects units between the preamplifier and power amplifier, such as an equalizer or some other audio "sweetener". You could also use it the send the full band signal to an external crossover, and then return the high pass signal to this amplifier, and the low pass to a subwoofer. It separates the preamplifier section from the power amplifier section, making this amp much more flexible than a lower budget, run-of-the-mill integrated amp.

When I’m paying over 4k after taxes for an audio piece, I’d prefer it to not contain any particle board on it. Not a huge deal but the back, why not just make it metal? I’m going to check these out in a couple of weeks when they are in stock locally though as they just look too good to not check out at least. Amp in is the same as Main in. For using an external preamp and this as the amp.

The back of the A10 and A12 are metal. But for the highest build quality - you need to go to the Advance Paris X-i1100. It's a beast with an full aluminum case. Cost is about 3,100 Euro's in Europe.

Thanks for this "different" review. As you say, you can't measure the emotional response, when those tingles/tears hit! For me, Mark Knopfler's Going Home Theme, From Local Hero triggers my tingles. When it comes to Bond, it has to be Timothy Dalton. No base management on this amplifier? I hear the Arylic B50 SE has it. How about a review?

Love this channel. It is informative and entertaining. I purchased the Advance Paris A10 Amplifier and found the sound to be, what another reviewer described as, "gentle". So, I bypassed the pre-amp and what a difference. Used a Wiim Pro Plus streamer to feed the "amp in" via the very competent SMSL DO100 digital to analogue converter. The result is a dynamic detailed sound with a punchier base and a cleaner top end. I have a pair of Klipsch RF7 speakers which can be a bit harsh particularly with female voices. This is why I though the tube pre-amp in the A10 would help. However prior to purchasing the amplifier I added acoustic dampening material to the tweeter horns, and now they sound sweet without the need of tubes to roll off the top end. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts and experience using the Amp-in to bypass the tube pre-amp.

Yes, JJ tubes are great at a good price. I use 11 of them. Also, GE JAN 5654W are great preamp tubes in my experience. I thought you did not like tubes? Well, tube preamps Rock. And big expensive tube amps can be a bit of a pain. And heat your room in the summer. I know, I have one. But now using tube preamp into class D power amp. Much cooler, and I think it sounds great. Not missing my all-tube amp a bit right now. Thanks for the video.

The DAC is an akm. Here below the text from the maker: DAC IN ADVANCE PARIS A10 CLASSIC Nowadays, top devices can only be top if they have an excellent D/A converter (DAC) on board. According to the Advance Paris website, the DAC used in the A-10 is a SSE 9018. After doing a quick Google search, all I could come up with was the Sabre DAC ESS 9018. The shuffling of the preceding letters might have something to do with French/English translation? Or merely a dyslexic typo.

$2500 is a lot, but my Marantz MM8077 was also $2500, replacing four Emotiva A-300s (2ch) Amps. It was worth every penny. The dynamics you get from a high-quality Amp are mind-blowing. I thought the Emotiva's were good, and for the money, they are, but the Marantz blew them away. It was so much better than the Emotiva that it changed how I used my system. Before, I had always used Audyssey Multi EQ and Dynamic EQ. Now I just set distance and delay. If I turn on Audyssey now, it actually sounds worse. I have 15+ years of using Marantz Receivers/Pre-Amps, and this is the first time I do not have to use any of the Audyssey settings (also the first time I bought a high-end Amp to match). The only thing that changed was the Amp.

This video is important for anyone who is looking for, not just great sound, but sound that touches us emotionally. I have really enjoyed the speakers that I have had for over 20 years. But when I brought a pair of Sonus faber Sonettos home for trial listening, i got choked up. They pair wonderfully with my big Marantz AVR. I was able to SEE the musicians and not just hear them. Thank you for expressing what being an audiophile is all about so eloquently.

I am curious to know what model AV, and whether the AVR's signal happened to be boosted with a Poweramp. I ask cos I couldn't get the best out of my Sonetto's with a £2,000 Denon 6500 AVR. No realism. It sounded a little too digital for my liking. Mind you, they do say when it comes to stereo marantz tops Denon.

The AMP IN enigma resolved : From "PRE OUT'' to your favorite amplifier so that you can benefit from the tube preamp of this amp on your favorite amp. From your favorite preamp to the ''AMP IN'' so that your can by-pass the tube preamp and still get any preamp to play throught that amp stage. Just like and effect loop on a guitar amp you can also put any device between the preamp and the amp...
@atomicinv25 ай бұрын
Amp in means you can use the unit as a power amplifier. This means you connect it to the “amp in” via the pre outs on another receiver (say if you had a multi channel av receiver which has pre outs for the individual channels). Now you are using the beautiful Advance amplification, controlled by your av receiver which presumably you would do if the Advance is a better amp than your AV receiver.

AMP IN is there to be used with an external preamp and drive the power amp directly. If you have an AV preamp on your home theater for example you can use this as a power amp for your main LR speakers. Also, some streamers have preamps and you might prefer to use them for some reason.

Loudness button and Tone Controls(Bass&Treble) should be on all integrated amps. It gives the person more options to adjust the sound to the listeners liking. Can''t understand why manufacturers are making them without them,...unless its to cut costs. *Either way, they should be part of any integrated built.
