Mine was delivered last week! Had to wait - it was on backorder. This sounds absolutely FANTASTIC! Ran at A bias - cleanest sound I've heard through my KEF Reference 3 / I noticed it can run warm after about 2 hours / now running 4 speakers with two JBL Sub 550P and I'm blown away. CEC so far works flawlessly - can't say thanks enough for this recommendation . More than worth the money, and a beautiful centerpiece. Glad you retracted the phono pre amp review - I've found it to work exceptional for me as well.

This video is exactly why I'm back in the hobby. I've watched many of your videos and I've learned so much about the hobby since the 70's. I went from 2 ch to 7.1 and now I'm going back to 2 ch. The equipment today is different from the past yet the same in other aspects. For instance, pioneer is only home theater now. Music for me IS emotion. I'm slowly building my system and the A10 is in my plans. I understand exactly what your saying and agree 100%.

I am jealous of that amp. Seriously the emotional aspect is what has kept me in the hobby for 50 years. I am glad that I am not the only one who catches his reflection. LOL. Amp In = Main IN on vintage gear. Great place to put an EQ so it can work with all devices. It separates the Pre-amp from the Amp. Thx my friend.

Amp in can also be thought of as a home theater bypass. So if you have a music system and a HT system that share the same main speakers you can run pre outs from an AV receiver to the Paris and the amp in bypasses any volume controls.

Randy, thanks for sharing your experience so candidly. it made my heart smile. It's about art; art as a language to connect us to our emotions. Appreciate you brother. *That*is what the hobby really is about. I'm currently running a pair of limited edition Ohm Walsh 5.5000s. Its a big tall ceiling living room, and the speakers are remarkable...but insensitive at 87db @ 2.8V 6 Ohms , so they need a little juice to get the most out of them. (If you have never had a chance to hear ANY Ohm Walsh speakers ( vintage or not) seek them out). I'm thinking of trying out an Advance Paris A12 since it provides a bit more current, but then that emotional impact milage may vary. So You have convinced me to debut both the A10 and A12. Good Listening!

The Outlaw Audio RR2160 MKII doesn't have HDMI, but otherwise nearly matches the A10 classic for inputs. I've only had it for a week, but it has significantly improved the overall sound quality from my KEF LS50's versus the Yamaha R-N500 it replaced. Combined with the excellent audio and video from Jazz at Lincoln Center's live stream channel "JazzLive" the music delivers real emotional responses, cold chills abound. It is my favorite music source.

I have an AdvancedParis A10 classic for a while now, and was on the verge of selling it, and I am really glad I didn't. My main reason is that we wanted to redo our living room and the idea was to place an amp in a cabinet. It tuned out this wasn't a real good idea. So we got another cabinet in which I can place the A10 nicely and still has enough space on the edges (thanks to IKEA). The change of the living room had so much impact on the sound quality that I really get this same feeling. Its simply gorgeous. I have it paired with a set of Dali Rubicon 2 and a project carbon turntable with a Hagerman Bugle pre-amp. I also have The same feeling you describe I get with David Bowie live in glastonbury 2000 on vinyl.

A lot of comments say that you can use EQ between the pre-out and amp-in connectors. Actually you can't. The Amp in is selected in the menu and the amplifier goes into power amp mode and receives signal ONLY from the amp in input. That's it. Therefore you can only use an external pre-amp or use it in a HT-bypass situation when the Amp-in is engaged.

I'm not positive, but the AMP IN terminal is likely a PRE-AMP input, because it is located right next to AMP OUT. The labeling is a little confusing, but those inputs may just be a pre-in/out loop for an EQ, or some other type of signal processor. I love the way the amp looks, but my only concern is if the 190 watts it produces at 4 ohms would be enough to authoritatively drive my Magnepan 1.6 QR's. Overall, revisiting previously reviewed equipment is a good idea Randy. The more time you spend with a component, the more familiar you become with what it offers, and whether or not it holds up over the long term considering its price. This is an endgame product for those on a budget, so it's very important for prospective buyers in that category to know if it's a wise investment.

@@fofocho71 You are right, it is inconvenient, unfortunately. I have no clue why they didn't put a menu button on the remote. But I usually listen to atmos music, so I don't have to switch it very often when I want to listen to CDs without going through the receiver. But if you are asking about switching to AMP IN everytime you turn the A10 on, then you don't have to. It stays in AMP IN mode until you turn it off manually.

Thanks. In my case I would be using 50% with AV Receiver (AMP IN) and 50% with a streamer (volume control needed). This situation is dangerous if I forget to disable AMP IN and I listen to the streamer as it would blow my speakers. Many stereo amplifiers have a dedicated HT Bypass (AMP IN) input and only in this input volume control is bypassed. But the A10 is “all AMP IN” or nothing

This was a great video. Too bad the previous commenter didn’t watch it!! Here’s why: you hit the nail on the head about home audio. Thing is: you can have the same experience in the car, or from an old boombox around a campfire, or from a live band…IF ANY type of art, from music to poetry to paintings to comedy MOVE YOU EMOTIONALLY…to laugh, cry or fill your imagination, then you KNOW its good! I hear The Beatles 1/2 speed masters on a $50,000 stereo and I was amazed. But I heard it on my paltry $5000 stereo and was also moved. Saw The Doors play Light my fire live, wow! But I still get worked up when it comes over the car radio. Even if I think about “The End” by the Doors…it moves me beyond belief…due to the Vietnam connection. Ever go to a great art gallery and find yourself staring at a painting for a long time that “tells you a story”? Whenever I hear some of Robbie Robertsons contemporary Native American music it makes me very emotional because half my family is Native American…and I get it! Mozart….enough said. And yea, I loved AC/DC live back in the 70’s….then, I got them too! Isn’t it afterall, being an audiophile really all about communication? Just what you attempt to do on your channel. I actually followed some of your advice on purchases, and so far, am very happy. And on at least one suggestion, it turned out way better than you realize. Let’s face it, you did all of this just to get yourself a kick ass system! 😂😂😎

I've been on a quest to replace my 23yr old B&W DM601S3's for a while now and a short amount of time with the Wharfdale Super Denton at the UK Bristol Show last month got me excited. They were hooked up to the similarly priced Audiolab 9000A which got me thinking an amp upgrade might be on the cards too. Your two video's on the A10, same price as Audiolab, really got my attention so as soon as I can demo the Denton's I'll be checking the A10 out too.

Thanks for sharing the video!! Your insight is appreciated. The first time I had that emotional factor, was not too soon after I a few years ago I went from a vinyl collector with an ok set up to aiming at something that could possibly sound better… I went from a pioneer system to a solid state McIntosh and Solid state C29 preamp…But had a pair of Klipsch heresy 1’s a bought from an estate sale for nearly nothing… One day someone local was selling a pair of Tannoy Mk2 611 speakers, and I decided to spin Ben Webster “Atmosphere for lovers” Album, Parlophone’s 1st re-issue of the album on thier label. …When it played through those speakers I was in complete Woa, and wow, I’ve never heard such an intimate musical sound like this, the textures of his horn, the separation and holographic realism. I have my favs but I tend to return to this one so much, and share it to others when they 1st hear my system, and tend to get the same reactions.

It's 2005 and it's a try or give up moment in my audio journey. I had no idea what a truly good sound stage could be like. I had never experienced tight bass, sibilent highs, or quiet passages without hiss. I have hooked up my new cheap plastic Sonic Impact T-amp to the recommended speakers, BIC America venturi bookshelves. I start playing Jennifer Warne's Rock You Gently, and I cry with emotional joy. You can't take that moment away from me.

Did you drop it on your foot? Pre Out/Amp In (preamplifier out/power amplifier in) are useful if you want to add outboard effects units between the preamplifier and power amplifier, such as an equalizer or some other audio "sweetener". You could also use it the send the full band signal to an external crossover, and then return the high pass signal to this amplifier, and the low pass to a subwoofer. It separates the preamplifier section from the power amplifier section, making this amp much more flexible than a lower budget, run-of-the-mill integrated amp.

These Advance Paris integrated amps are so amazing to look at and to me that is a huge part of the experience. Only issue I have for example the A12 which is the model up from this. When I’m paying over 4k after taxes for an audio piece, I’d prefer it to not contain any particle board on it. Not a huge deal but the back, why not just make it metal? I’m going to check these out in a couple of weeks when they are in stock locally though as they just look too good to not check out at least. Amp in is the same as Main in. For using an external preamp and this as the amp.

The back of the A10 and A12 are metal. But for the highest build quality - you need to go to the Advance Paris X-i1100. It's a beast with an full aluminum case. Cost is about 3,100 Euro's in Europe.

Thanks for this "different" review. As you say, you can't measure the emotional response, when those tingles/tears hit! For me, Mark Knopfler's Going Home Theme, From Local Hero triggers my tingles. When it comes to Bond, it has to be Timothy Dalton. No base management on this amplifier? I hear the Arylic B50 SE has it. How about a review?

Love this channel. It is informative and entertaining. I purchased the Advance Paris A10 Amplifier and found the sound to be, what another reviewer described as, "gentle". So, I bypassed the pre-amp and what a difference. Used a Wiim Pro Plus streamer to feed the "amp in" via the very competent SMSL DO100 digital to analogue converter. The result is a dynamic detailed sound with a punchier base and a cleaner top end. I have a pair of Klipsch RF7 speakers which can be a bit harsh particularly with female voices. This is why I though the tube pre-amp in the A10 would help. However prior to purchasing the amplifier I added acoustic dampening material to the tweeter horns, and now they sound sweet without the need of tubes to roll off the top end. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts and experience using the Amp-in to bypass the tube pre-amp.

$2500 is a lot, but my Marantz MM8077 was also $2500, replacing four Emotiva A-300s (2ch) Amps. It was worth every penny. The dynamics you get from a high-quality Amp are mind-blowing. I thought the Emotiva's were good, and for the money, they are, but the Marantz blew them away. It was so much better than the Emotiva that it changed how I used my system. Before, I had always used Audyssey Multi EQ and Dynamic EQ. Now I just set distance and delay. If I turn on Audyssey now, it actually sounds worse. I have 15+ years of using Marantz Receivers/Pre-Amps, and this is the first time I do not have to use any of the Audyssey settings (also the first time I bought a high-end Amp to match). The only thing that changed was the Amp.

The AMP IN enigma resolved : From "PRE OUT'' to your favorite amplifier so that you can benefit from the tube preamp of this amp on your favorite amp. From your favorite preamp to the ''AMP IN'' so that your can by-pass the tube preamp and still get any preamp to play throught that amp stage. Just like and effect loop on a guitar amp you can also put any device between the preamp and the amp...
@atomicinv2

Amp in means you can use the unit as a power amplifier. This means you connect it to the “amp in” via the pre outs on another receiver (say if you had a multi channel av receiver which has pre outs for the individual channels). Now you are using the beautiful Advance amplification, controlled by your av receiver which presumably you would do if the Advance is a better amp than your AV receiver.

Loudness button and Tone Controls(Bass&Treble) should be on all integrated amps. It gives the person more options to adjust the sound to the listeners liking.
