Learned something. Our trip to your museum, scheduled for last week, was cancelled. If I live long enough and the virus goes away, we will visit and I will look at all the self portraits, in person. I am a photographic self portraitist, not a selfie taker, who cannot get models and who practices his skills photographing himself. I also learn something about my humanity as I focus and capture the image.

I saw his self portrait from when he was ill when I was in Oslo, and it was by far the most impactful painting I've ever seen.

That Rjssel painting is excellent because it captures his looks but also * him *, which any decent portrait should. Russell respected Vincent and tried to emulate his style in his own non-poetraot work. He also admired the other post -impresionsits and their styles. He was never happy with this work, though, and despite his really admirable portraits of many subjects, didn't consider himself a true artist on his portraits alone. His friend Rodin saw this and was constantly encouraging him, telling him he was too hard on himself, giving him good, accurate advice. When his beloved wife died, though, Russell really went off the deep end: he returns to Australia to live out his life and, so sadly, destroyed all of his attempts at broadening his style. His portrait of Vincent is really excellent.

First, I have a lot of questions, but I will shorten them ... 1- Why Vincent did not color Marsh with Water Lilies even though if he painted it in the well known yellow and blue colors, it will be a source of interest and inspiration for many French painters, and this is what Monet later used in Water Lilies . 2- How many of paintings Vincent copied. 3- why did Vincent not paint his father even though he painted all members of his family. 4-Why does Vincent only have one religious painting: The Pietà that he copied after Delacroix.

I actually love her accent, sounds like a Dutch that lived or studied long in England. My husband is Dutch and sometimes he also sounds a little bit like her, I love that.
