REALSTREET PERFORMANCE. Built a 2jz with an OEM pump and did about 40 dyno pulls and took the engine apart. No g forces and the main bearings were all ready giving up. Pulling down the 1800hp 3.5L Dart 2JZ engine and what we learned.

@@km6832 New OEM Toyota oil pumps are dogshit compared to the old ones. They've changed their manufacturing process at some point and the gears shatter like Nissan RB ones do. Hughes Race Built in NZ bought a brand new pump and broke the gears in half on purpose and they were sintered. PRP have started making billet gears because people have been having this problem with new OEM toyota pumps.

@Drunken_Hamster
@Drunken_Hamster 14 күн бұрын
@@FDFraceshop Plenty of 2Js, plenty of vettes. Perhaps never before together, but still not that special. Not even that good given the weight and length penalty, TBH. Interesting how you're ignoring all the Vortec 4200 comments when they're kinda "the right answer" for this level and type of build (straight 6 Corvette swap, that is) If you REALLY wanted to get min-maxxy, though, you could've done an LV1/LV3, instead of either. Being a V6, it has better packaging, is the lightest of all 3 choices, will take 25lbs of boost unopened for 750+ horsepower and similar torque with a shelf cam, and even greater potential with a custom cam, some David Vizard style head work, big valve, and bored to 4.065 like the other LT platform engines. If you have an equal-length, long tube turbo manifold into a twin-scroll single turbo, it'll sound more or less just like a straight 6 screamer, too. With the extra space it gives in the engine bay, you could probably front mount that puppy, and if not, a 6 requires smaller collectors/exhaust pipes and therefore take up less room in the tunnel with regards to a remote mount turbo setup. Another benefit of THAT would be even further rearward weight distribution, which enhances grip, so now you have an even higher net benefit there compared to a complete net-loss with the iron block 2JZ and front mount turbo.

The 2j is not only longer by over 150mm and heavier. But it’s adding complexity, adding piping, plumbing, intercooler. You will need how much boost to make the same hp without the torque and at 2k+ more rpms peak. As much as I loathe the ls platform it has its place. Here in the states you trip over 6.0s in alleys and 5.3s on street corners. So I fully understand using what you can get parts for and am not knocking it by any means. I think it’s cool as heck. You can still make your power goals and get it reliable. It’s a huge upgrade in cool. And it will do a fantastic job showcasing your work. But in every practical, on paper sense to a normie? Downgrade. To me? I’m here for it.
