Why did we move to Curitiba, Brazil? Living in Brazil pt 6

Hey everyone, In this video I explain the reason of choosing Curitiba as the city to move to in Brazil.
Living abroad is already tough in itself, choosing the “right” city for your family is even tougher.
I won’t say this is our long-term home but it will be a solid city for our family at the moment.

Eu sou curitibano e te digo, Curitiba é uma cidade maravilhosa, bem organizada, uma cidade projetada, diversas culturas do mundo todo, restaurantes maravilhosos, uma cidade muito limpa, as pessoas são sim educadas, essa questão de as pessoas serem mal educadas é um MITO, isso não existe, a cultura trazida principalmente pelas culturas europeias que deu essa característica que as pessoas da cidade de Curitiba são mal educadas, mais na realidade são apenas mais reservados, a questão tambem do clima, agora no verão esta fazendo calor, coisa que é muito difícil, normalmente Curitiba faz frio e é muito chuvosa, mais é uma cidade maravilhosa.

@@Armand_Will É no Brasil inteiro, mas aqui é bem mais organizado. Sei que no teu pais a saúde de graça não existe e que, por sinal, é muito cara. Tengo amugos que moram em Orlando e em Boston, que vêm se tratar aqui. Cirurgia e dentistas, aqui. Porque lá é feia a coisa.

Sou curitibana e morei na europa e vi que realmente temos nossos raizes na cultura de la, onde somos fechados mas nao significa que somos preconceituosos, nao a grande maioria..Curitiba ainda em relação a violência, transporte publico e infra estrutura esta excelente para viver! Mas as pessoas não costumam chegar e conversar ser invasivo! É assim e difícil mudar..

Hey, welcome my my country too Am from Florida but Curitiba is one of the best and safest places to live. Drive carefully there, LOT of ticket cameras ! Got 2 tickets in 1 day ! I live in Florianopolis where there are a lot of people who speak english, been a long time since I visited CUR so I don't know how many speak english Lived in Recife and Joao Pessoa too, prefer JP because it's a lot nicer than Recife and safer too PLUS the beaches in the north are WARM ALL YEAR HEADED back up to the north one of these days

Im from Curitiba and unfortunely the people from others sides of Brazil think that south people are racists but this is not true. Obviouly, exist this kindle of people and honestly, exists in everywhere of the world. If you have a greatest concentration of white people in a place, when immigrants come to this place and the criminality increase, racism and xenophobic will increase too. But this isn't a south people caracthereistc, this is a crime that have faces. In Salvador - Bahia, we have the most concentrate black people living in Brasil and the inequality between white and black people is one of the greatest of Brasil. This is a general problem, infortunely.

Concordo plenamente contigo, o racismo existe em todo lugar e não podemos generalizar só porque alguém te tratou mal. Sou neta de imigrantes e graças a Deus meus avós vieram para o Paraná, pessoas boas e más estão em todo lugar, essa diversidade é que faz o Brasil aceitar tão bem os estrangeiros e a miscigenação uma de suas características marcantes. Atire a primeira pedra quem nunca foi discriminado pela sua aparência, religião, política, time de futebol, etnia e assim por diante. Saber conviver com as diferenças essa é a chave para ser viver bem.

Existem muitas cidades boas para se viver no Brasil. O problema é que a imprensa e a mídia em geral, nacional e internacional, as ignoram completamente. Preferem viver de tragédias. Nutrem-se do sangue e do desespero das pessoas que, em geral, vivem nas periferias das metrópoles. Consequência disso é que imigrantes acabam indo e superlotando as poucas cidades de que conseguem obter alguma informação boa. É o caso de Curitiba que, além de ser uma excelente cidade, soube como projetar com eficiência sua imagem. Muitos desses imigrantes nunca ouviram falar, por exemplo, de Londrina ou Maringá, ai mesmo no Paraná; ou de Marilia e Rio Preto em SP, ou Uberaba e Uberlândia, em MG, apenas para citar algumas, todas com excelente qualidade de vida.

How long have you guys been in Curitiba? My husband and I will probably be moving there in the next 1-3 years as missions mobilizers! I'm half-Brazilian (Sao Paulo/Dallas) and my husband is American (Jewish follower of Jesus, from the northeast). Maybe more info than you need upfront but long story short, we'll probably be there this coming May for just a week or two and I would love to pick your brain about living in the city as although I'm Brazilian, I'm not from Curitiba!

NO, probably Georgia or Alabama YES Florianopolis is just a 4 hour drive to the south with 43 beaches and warmer weather, that's where I live, Joinville is nice too but not so great beaches

Curitiba used to be safer in the past but due to the high immigration rate from the nearby countries (Paraguay, Uruguay and especially Venezuela) and also from other poorer Brazilian states Curitiba, Paraná has been suffering from a massive high in criminality, violence and bad attitudes (e.g. littering, breaking public and private property, talking loudly etc), those bad attitude are ending up in xenophobia. About r@c1sm, I'm not saying the general curitibano is r@c1st but they have a "harsh" education, I mean, they appear to be "cold". This is what is mainly perceived as r@c1st or xenophobic by other people, especially the ones from North and Northwest of our country. The curitibano is pretty famous to be perceived as "not educated" just by being usually rude and harsh by others, not being talkative, being not intrusive, it's more like they are on their own - introvert.

Hey thank you for the comment for it is good insight. My family and I haven't faced any r@cism or anything and from my perspective os Curitibanos have been pleasant. Now I would say that it is have to have conversations with them sometimes but other than that, we have been treated fine. I definitely have noticed how many people that live here whom aren't from here, including myself and can see how it can cause xenophobia especially if there has been a rise in crime. Hopefully things get better.

Não concordo com você MarkHobbes acho que está generalizando, nem todo o curitibano é frio ou teve uma educação rude, pelo contrário, sou do norte do Paraná e vim aqui com a minha família e gosto do jeito curitibano de ser, cada um fica na sua sem se intrometer na vida dos outros. O fato de tantos imigrantes latino americanos virem pra cá não justifica a criminalidade, eles tem a consciência de que ser fizer a coisa errada vai ser punido acho que o aumento tem a ver com a crise que todo o país está passando depois da pandemia, com o aumento do desemprego e sim tem pessoas com má índole, mas jogar a culpa só nos nortistas ou nordestinos ou pessoas de outros estados é ter um pre conceito ou discriminação.

A melhor pessoa para decidir isso é você mesmo, analisando o ambiente, as características das pessoas que alí vivem e a própria infraestrutura da cidade, se atendem às suas necessidades. O Brasil não é so o Sul, onde tem uma cultura de colonização mais europeia, racista até. But it also depends on your social class and background. Once they realize you're North-American they'll kiss your ass. Sad though

Sinto se não gosta do sul mas as pessoas que vivem aqui pelo menos não tem tanto rancor com outras pessoas de outros estados.
