Ummm.... i lived in São Paulo for around 2 years, and in my experience i would say with 6000 reais a month a couple would live very comfortably in a rented house.
@Thcgk5 ай бұрын
this sounds like not really alot to be honest, isn't São Paulo like the most expensive city to live in Brazil together with Rio de janeiro? At least that's what I heard
@rogerreizk86405 ай бұрын
@@Thcgk I don't know if other Cities are more or less expensive.. but we were a family of 6, living in a relatively small house (around 65 qm) in Vila Prudente. The rent was 1600 reais, and our monthly expenses were no more than 5-6000 reais.. That was in 2014-2015, so things now are definitely different, but 6000 a month is sure more than enough for just 2 people
@thebrazilianexpat40414 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. Sure, you can live comfortably with 6000 reais a month anywhere in Brazil I guess, but everything is relative. If you want the nice car, the bigger house, go out to eat 2 times a week, go on vacation etc etc… I think 6000 reais would be the very minimum.

You can certainly manage without a car in cities here in the South, Totally different situation to the Interior nordestino! In the South you need to use heating some days during the winter, so needs to be calculated in electricity costs, The air conditioners in the South in some cases also supply hot air, but small fan and oil heaters are also available, They are generally relatively expensive to run.

I have lived in the USA for 20 years , and if I eat in Brazil the same way and quality of food that I eat in USA then I would spend 5k reais in food a month very easy , food is extremely expensive in Brasil , I don't why most Brazilians don't understand the concept of money conversion , you can't say oh that cheap because x amount of reais means s amount of US dollars , it don't work that way if the are working and payed in reais , the great majority of Brazilians gets paid an average salary of $2.000.00 reais +ou- , now if you work Monday through Friday that translates in $100 reais per day , now go out and see how much that money can buy you. A hotdog costs you from $10 to $15 reais , a pizza cost you from $50 to $50 reais , now imagine that I have to work half a day for a pizza or all day for 10 hotdogs . This is slavery . A bag of bread can cost you from $10 to $20 reais decente bread , and if you choose good quality food is gonna be more expensive . If you go out for lunch during your work day , lunch will be from 30 to 50 , remember you only make about 100 a day and how can you pay 40 for lunch ? An espresso is about $10 reais , it's not normal in Brazil for people to go out for breakfast , they eat at home . Sure sure sure there are the rich people or even the ones from a higher class who makes much more money , but I'm talking about the average person and that makes up 99%

Locals are struggling with current prices in Brazil. From the perspective of someone who earns money from a higher income country, prices do seem to be affordable and 'cheap' here. However, the economy of an area is highly subjective. So people who earn 1300 real can't even pay a nice rent in a major city here. Or afford to eat out, go to the cinema, etc. Inflation has been massive here and if you earn minimum wage here, you are in trouble.

Insanely expensive. I recommend you search on Google, car models that you recognize and it's price in Brazilian currency (real), then convert to your countrie's currency. But there is more, you have anual taxes, the worst of them is IPVA. You have to pay around 3% the market value of your car. So if it costs 100k, you pay 3k year.
