Certainly seems to be the most vocal expression of concerns by the highest profile athlete in the sport. He has definitely been thrown a number of bones to satisfy his wondering mind. But theres too much grumbling to ignore that there are cracks in EvW. Engin loves the sport as much as devon, but i dont see EvW lasting indefinitely under Engin, he doesnt have the temperament for it. Engin would be a great matchmaker. Devon recognizes that the sport had a rich history before EvW and he realistically recognizes that EvW is not infinite. It wont be UFC, and probably wont be around in 10 years, it cant under someone like Engin. Thats why he values the hammers, they evolve with the sport.

Lots of riddles. Let me interpret it for you. morozovs stances pre and post Instagram post don’t allign, so Devon is insinuating that someone told him to make that post degrading the hammer. Who is that person? Someone who dislikes the hammer. Perhaps the same person who introduced the gauntlet to take shine away from the hammer. The same person who gives Devon steaks(money) to keep him quiet. Who is this mysterious person, pulling the strings. Well it’s the puppet master. 🎭
@AdamLighter1Ай бұрын

If I understood correctly, it's even worse than that. It seems all of Artems comments, both public and private communications with Devon, are all consistent. Why then the one glaring incongruity? Devon has a highly developed analytical mind, I think he has a good idea of what's going on.

What Denis is doing to Devon is reactive abuse. Devon is being told "you go too far". If you can never "go too far" you will never ever get anything done - because if you (=the other person in the equation, who is creating a problem) create a situation where "not going too far" but "staying within the boundaries" will never ever solve the situation - then it just doesn't work to "not go too far". It's not Devon's fault that he is forced to "go too far". It's the person who is forcing the other to go too far who is at blame. This is called reactive abuse: my behaviour triggers abusive behaviour in you - and then you as the person who pushed the other person into reacting act like you're the victim: "hey everyone look at this bad person abusing me! I have no idea why he is doing that, make him stop he is bad" - while in reality it is him being the orchestrator of the whole situation - it is him abusing the other person - and then abusing him even more when he reacts ("he is a bad man for reacting, he is going too far!") This is the Karpman Drama triangle: persecutor, rescuer, victim. Abusers love being victims, and they like to use "rescuers" as pawns to do the "persecution" in their behalf. The story of Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) from Star Wars prequels is all about Palpatine making himself a victim (orchestrating an army to attack himself) and using his victim status to amass power.

@humanbean3Ай бұрын
the hammer is a good idea and a pure concept. you cannot force people to care and respect it though. even if they should. its a tough situation. i'm not sure what i would do if i were devon. it seems he's tried to kindly remind denis to pass the hammer but he doesn't listen. i would maybe make a new one and let denis keep that one lol.
@Jdm5299Ай бұрын
I think if the champion of the left-handed shw category doesn't care for the hammer, then it shouldn't matter unless he wants to challenge the holder of it. Simple.
@Namenotneeded470Ай бұрын
@Jdm5299 Except the holder isn't taking any left-handed matches, so there is that.

I’ll write here as well the message I personally have sent to Engin: Hi Engin, as a huge armwrestling fan I would like to share my opinion on this gauntlet. I like it very much and it's not a bad idea in a strict sense, but you should be very aware of the risks that it brings to the future of the sport. The problem is that it is strictly bound to the east vs west brand, and it could not possibly be "re-utilized" for the future champions. It is exactly a copy of the so controversial WAL Hammer, just with another brand written on it. What if in the future East vs West ceases to exist? Obviously I hope it's never the case, but what if? East vs West already has the champions' belts with the logo on. Is it really necessary to add another trophy? I know you don't like the WAL Hammer because it's bound to an old armwrestling league such as WAL, and it represents it, but creating a new trophy the concept of LEGACY will be lost. I think that league-specific trophies like EvW belts and WAF medals are alright, but the most important trophy for the very strongest armwrestler in the world should not be linked to any league. It should be brand-less. Maybe we can just remove the WAL logo off the hammer. Or maybe you can still make this beautiful gauntlet but without the East vs West logo on it. I know it must be difficult for you, because you love armwrestling and you love East vs West. You are so proud of this organization and you should be, you have all the rights. You created it from zero and helped the sport of armwrestling grow a lot, and we all are very grateful to you for this. But now I shall be very clear: *East vs West IS NOT armwrestling!* Maybe it is in this historical moment, but we can’t know if it will still be in the future. What if in 200 years from now another league with another name is doing great things for the sport and they don’t want to use the East vs West gauntlet because of the brand? Just like you don’t want to use the WAL hammer. We should do this gift TO THE SPORT OF ARMWRESTLING IN GENERAL, and not only to the East vs West name. It is the WHOLE ARMWRESTLING SPORT that needs its own absolute trophy, not East vs West, that already has its belts. I like to think that in 200 or 300 years the armwrestlers of the future will still be fighting to obtain that so aspired legendary trophy, that will be full of the LEGACY idea. I think that this is what Devon was talking about. We don't want the WAL hammer, but we want A SINGLE ARMWRESTLING TROPHY, not bounded to any brand name, and eternal. World absolute strongests shall write their names on this trophy and the legacy will continue for so many years from now, regardless of the organization of the moment. I hope I explained well my opinion, and I would love to speak with you about it. Good luck for the amazing job you are already doing for the sake of this sport. Love you Engin, all armwrestling fans are indebted to you 🙏 His only answer was “we do not have such goal”…

Devon is cunning. He himself could be caught in contradictions several times. For example, when he said that he did not demand the hammer when Denis was sick the first time, then the second time he was sick with covid. And after that, he repeated the "6 years" thing several times: he was soft for 6 years, asked Denis to give him the hammer for 6 years, and so on. Devon is cunning, very cunning.

The HAMMER Represents THOR - The Best Across All Time & History & Leagues!!! ; To Me it should be the #1 TOP Honor of Respect that you are the best in the WORLD... not just 1 promotion or small time league or event! ; If they want seperate belts & the "glove" for different events & places fine, but RESPECT what the Hammer Represents ABOVE all that smaller stuff and w/out saying it, THAT IS what Devons trying to say... ; If your mad at me,.. then attack ME... dont disrespect & devalue The HAMMER and what it is!!! ; ]

I agree with Devon that Evs.W is the league at the moment, but that will likely change. The name won’t even hold up over time. I’d like to know the numbers, but I’d guess the US is by far the largest financial supporter and is floating Engin’s promotion at the moment. I think what Devon is insinuating is that someone will come along and do it better. If they focus on the West that’s where the money will be and this could crumble pretty quickly.
@NeilpickpocketАй бұрын
Good job with the interview..... Devon has stated many times in the past that he doesn't do anything for money. Clearly that has been disingenuous. At least he admits it now. Nothing wrong with doing things for money but don't be fake about it. Hopefully there will be a turning point back to the old Devon that many of us grew to like and admire.
