I feel like good interviewers can usually hide their contempt a little better than this. Asking tough questions without an accusatory tone can make them tougher. But when the interviewer gets a little wound up and the interviewee is calm as can be, credibility can become shaky. And whatever you may think of Gerry, you ought to know he's much too slick for that, and has been spending the last half century fielding questions like this.

The problem is 1m Protestants in the North dont want a United Ireland. Probably a large portion of people in the South of Ireland dont really want to be United with the North either. This isn't Sesame Street where all the neighbours get along. North Americans have no idea about Ireland even though they love to tell you their family came from there ten generations ago and they still consider themselves Irish. To be honest there is only one other group that the Northern Loyalists and Southern Republican Irish hate more than each other and that's dippy plastic paddys from North America......
@christosshugeh95733 жыл бұрын
@@auxrora6398 I think you will also find that your hate of the Brits is reciprocated by loyalists hate of the Irish and that's why there was murder and mayhem for 30 years. If you keep using the word hate you leave no room for love. Even if the British relinquished their sovereignty over the North the protestants will simply go to war with Dublin. Add to the mix that Dublin doesnt want the North then you can see that the status quo there at the minute is probably as good as it will get.

I recently discovered that my great grandad was an Irish revolutionary. The point is that Ireland is one country and British determination to keep a part of Ireland under its control will break. Probably sooner than later as Sinn Fein took the electoral road, tacked towards the middle ground whilst not forgetting its revolutionary history, and now has the support of huge numbers of people throughout the Ireland of Ireland. Gerry Adams is an extremely clever man, an effective leader and speaker who can now see a United Ireland as a reality. I think it might happen during my lifetime and I believe this would be a positive development. The hatred and bigotry found within elements of the loyalist community, the anti Catholic nonsense, a system based on gerrymandering political and economic control to the Protestant settlers in the North, all make for a poisonous brew and it's now time to burst this nasty boil...and return Ireland to a united situation where Britain has no more influence over it than France, Italy, Germany...

I’m a Brit and in no way supporting any violence Adams may have been involved with during the troubles. I add that applies to all involved on all sides! I do greatly support the strives for peace however on both sides. I also respect everyone’s views when voiced through non violent means. BUT, I could listen to him talk for hours. He’s actually quite relaxing to listen to as a speaker.

Adams & McGuiness are/were both crypto-jews. Neither of them have expressed the least concern with significant numbers of non-whites entering Ireland against the wishes of the indigenous people. They harp on British power over Ireland, but the British whites have a hell of a lot more in common with the indigenous Irish than do Somalian Muslims.

Marr should have asked him on his thoughts regarding the future of the loyalist community should the British connection in Ireland end. If these communities have been living there for hundreds of years then like it or not surely they too are part of the fabric of the island of Ireland?

No one is saying that unionists are not entitled to live in a United Ireland, including Sinn Féin. Their identity would be protected and respected within a United Ireland. @@CarlosHernandez-cp8qd I just told you It's within the Good Friday Agreement that unionist identity will be protected post reunification. Sinn Féin support the Good Friday Agreement. Adams helped deliver it, getting republicans on board, whether you like him or not. So, that would've been a stupid question to ask him. Plus it was also put in the Irish Constitution and voted for by the people of Ireland. So, there is no question of unionists not being treated as equally, their identity not respected within a United Ireland.

@@CarlosHernandez-cp8qd Your incorrect stuff is suggesting that Marr ask Adams re unionists being entitled to keep their identity and be treated as equals within a United Ireland. Adams helped deliver the Good Friday Agreement which states that unionists identity would be protected and they would be treated as equals. post reunification. Plus your post is misleading ie all this, surely unionists are entitled to be treated as equals type stuff, as if that is not going to be the case.
