In episode 2, Aang actually brings up a point that he wants to train waterbending "later" when Katara brought it up to him. Aang responded that Gyatso was always his only master and he never really trained with anyone else. This sort of hints early at the fact that Aang didn't want to be separated from Gyatso and leave the Southern Air Temple, and also the fact that in NATLA, it wasn't until the after the siege of Agna Qel'a that Aang was finally able to accept change and let go of the past so he can have a future. Concluding the season like this and also having Pakku say "Water is the element of change" after the fight in hindsight informs the audience that there is no better time for Aang to learn waterbending now that he understands change and he's ready to move forward. So, behold NATLA Book 1: Adapt. Lol

lol, Book 1 : Adapt. I like that. yeah definitely an undertone of adapting to change in it and a nice tie in with Gyatso and Aang for sure. I showed a screen shot of that moment aang says Gyatso was the 1 that always taught him in this video. I agree with you, it was an important moment for Aangs journey to learning waterbending for sure.

That scene where Aang accidentally burns Katara is such an intense moment, Sokka pinning Aang down and yelling at him while Katara runs off crying, just... you feel just as alarmed and panicked as any of them. It really did a lot to show the danger of fire

True, it was also the 1st time Katara used waterbending to heal, which a lot of people forget.

Thanks, yeah it does feel like people kind of forgot about jeongjeong. At least I haven't seen many talking about him and the themes from his episodes being integrated into the live action.

Oh, that scene with Koizilla left me speechless! The way they have done this! Also I am sure he will be practicing and learning waterbending with Katara in NWT

Yep I really like Koizilla. It's such a hard thing to do in a live action and I really liked how they did it.

I think it makes sense... like this is a 12 year old kid who just woke up from an iceberg after 100 years. He just learned his people/his entire nation was annihilated. He's the LAST AIRBENDER alive. Not only that he's the freaking Avatar? So he has 2 things he needs to come to terms with. Throughout the entire season we hear Aang say certain things that kind of hint that Aang doesn't want to be alive. The end of the series where he allows the Ocean Spirit to take over really shows this. So why would he really want to learn a new element when he doesn't feel there's a point? Aang comes off as fairly depressed and i actually love that for this series. But his acceptance to move forward and accept the change is beautiful.

I thought another reason might be he was reluctant to train with Katara because she wasn’t a “master” in that, she doesn’t have full control over waterbending, so how can he trust her entirely? She has proven herself a master waterbender the end, and in addition to being ready to learn, he sees Katara as someone he can now trust help teach him. This is assuming he doesn’t learn from someone else like the initial plan had been.

Katara became a master waterbender without a single lesson from an actual master at the end of the series was laughable😂

@@DKWReshana14 I think it was more like, she had proven she can do advanced moves/techniques during her fight with him, he’s seen her in action, so there probably wasn’t much he could teach her. So, she’s self taught, with some advice here and there, picks things up quickly. She’s proven that she has the skills/techniques of, or similar to, a master. We’ve seen what she can do by just watching and imitating and using that in her bending (new moves). Similar to how Iroh took inspiration from water bending to help with the lightning redirect thing, if I remember right.

@thelastairprince the writing of the story, characters, and the fact that they shoe horned things we loved from the original, ie: The cabbage man, they executed it poorly. How he said it felt like he just had enough when it was only one time. Sokka using aangs old man name. The hippies in the cave. Wan shi tong, koh the not so face stealer. Aang not learning water bending, katara becomes a master all of a sudden by herself? There's a lot

@@ignaciogarcia2517 yep, those seem to be the common things people that don't like the series have been complaining about. Out of interest would you have wanted a straight scene for scene shot in Live action of the animation? so basically like watching the animation all over but in live action?

@thelastairprince scene for scene, no. There just doesn't seem to be any growth for the characters. They made them all so bland. Show the progress of their training, don't give us that bs of katara becoming a master all of a sudden. The comedy is so dry. The makeup/ prosthetics are so poor. Bumi, pakku and yue are by far the worst looking in regards to that
