I bet that in Earth's past (and maybe even now) there are tribes with a really strong warrior's honor code where if you defeat one of their warriors in mortal combat instead of hating you for it and going after you for revenge they congratulate you for it and reward you in some way and let you go in peace because you EARNED THEIR RESPECT. Unlike certain HUMANS like Jeff Dahmer or Mr. Manson they are NOT serial killers who kill for its own sake. In the movie you mentioned all of those human b@d@$$3$ they captured and put to sleep using either chlorophorm or some other sedative could easily have been killed but there is no sport in that. The gave them a few hours head start AND let them KEEP all of their weapons. I respect that way more than a human serial killer.

They held him in an even higher honor BECAUSE he fought to the end and eventually won, even though it cost him his life. They recognized the woman as a true hunter because she was basically a civilian, who "joined the hunt" after one of the three was killed and survived/helped Scar destroy the hive. The elder giving her his personal spear was a high honor considering how much stronger and faster Yautja are compared to humans, and she held her own alongside Scar

This is why the first Predator movie is one of my top 3 favourite movies of all time. It's because the "enemy" isn't your typical enemy. In most alien attack movies, the aliens are mindless hostiles that kill indiscriminately. The Predator, however, values honor and tradition. It has a sense of right & wrong. It's the one time in a Schwarzenegger movie (where he was the hero of the story at least) where you would have been absolutely okay with it if the enemy won in the end.

It always fascinates me watching the intelligence of Scar compared to his two brothers Celtic and Chopper. They all were basically equals but clearly had different personalities with Chopper being arrogant and Celtic being overaggressive, Scar was the calm and calculated one who made it to the end he's such an interesting Predator maybe the best one ever.

Its not heartbreaking its the law of the hunt and they follow it like moth to a bugzapper. If any predator engages in a hunt whether they are in a group or alone no other predators are allowed to intervene no matter what. This was explained by the director on the predator 2 movie where many people asked why the other predators just watched as the cop(protagonist) finally defeated the predator even when final fight was inside their ship.

You won't know from just watching the films, but if you follow the lore, behind the series outside of the film. This where u learn of how their tribe operates. The Yautja don't like weaklings in their species that's why a female predator can give birth to 7-10 pups/sucklings and be lucky if even 1 of a litter makes it to adulthood to become a well know hunter (reason why a male Yautja with 100 adult children is respect and one with over 200 is feared and loved) It won't surprise me if Celtic, Chooper and Scar had more brothers and sisters of their litter but who died during their ceremony to show they are ready for the ceremony to become blooded Yautja's.

He did so because of their code, but few people know why the code exists and why scar being killed (no matter how tragic) needs to be accepted in their culture. It all has to do with their female to male. For every female there are 10 males. In our own species, we are fifty fifty, but still a lot of competition for mating, and according to our genetics, we have twice as many female ancestors than male. Imagine that times 5. Imagine that 90 percent of the population is competing for the last 10 percent, and even than only 5 percent get to mate. Though it has never been fully flushed out, before their civilization raised up, they would have to have been more brutal and barbaric then we can think. It makes a lot of sense that the code would have brought great stability to their species that allowed them to develop by directing their competition towards something other than war against themselves. Without it, their civilization would fall. Thus adherence to the code is a necessary prime directive even if it leads to a tragedy.

Blooded. That’s the term. Elder and crew would step in if they thought the Xenosmorphs would escape or the queen wasn’t defeated as she’d pose a serious threat to humanity. And predators DO like humanity. But not in general. You must prove your worthiness in the eyes of a Yautja. Except women, who are always held with the highest of respect. Even when human females were seen with a weapon, they were not killed. Elderly/The Sick & Ill are also treated with respect. Weyland , being spared once, when the Yautja saw the blood? (Or bone?) and lung cancer. And when he retaliated The Predator gave him a fairly quick and painless death…
