Animated top 5 of Why Didn’t They Teach me This in School? Awesome book by Cary Siegel about 99 efficient strategies on how to live more frugal/save more money.
The ultimate playlist of books on how to save money fast: bit.ly/2Onqiwa
Top 5 takeaways:
00:00 Intro
0:21 1. 10 QUICK Tips to Save You Tens of Thousands of $$$
2:48 2. It’s NOT as Terrible as it Sounds - Develop a Budget!
04:33 3. Invest 50% of Every Salary Increase
05:27 4. Develop and Maintain a Good Credit Score
06:12 5. Pick Your Partner Like You Pick Your Stocks
TL;DW:
- Takeaway number 1 is that there are lots of things you could do to improve your economy, among others, choosing the right insurance, have an emergency month, and spend now to save later.
- Number 2 is that you can’t manage what you don’t measure. Therefore, if you want to improve your financial health, keep a monthly budget.
- Takeaway number 3 is that you should invest 50% of every increased salary you get. Remember, you managed to survive before the increase, and you can get the best of two worlds by both giving yourself an increased consumption limit AND invest more at the same time.
- Second to last, takeaway number 4 explains the importance of keeping a good credit score.
- Finally, in takeaway number 5, we discussed the decision that will have the greatest impact on your financial well-being - your future husband or wife.
My goal with this channel is to help you make more money and improve your personal finances. How to become a millionaire? There are many ways to get there - investing in the stock market, becoming a stock trader, doing real estate investing, or why not becoming an entrepreneur? But whether you are interested in how to invest in stocks or investing strategies for creating passive income with rental properties - I hope to be able to provide you with a solution (or at least an idea) here. Warren Buffett - the greatest investor of our time - says that you should fill your mind with competing ideas and then see what makes sense to you. This channel is about filling your mind with those ideas. And in the process - upgrading your money-making toolbox.

I dispute #9. Carry only enough cash for a tip here and there. Use a credit card with no annual fee and pay the balance every month. (You don’t have to be 50 to join AARP, and their cards are consumer friendly). If you do spend a bill, put any coins received in the nearest tip jar. At the end of the year, you can get a spending recap for taxes, and perhaps redeem some points. Carry your cards in IR shields. If you want a second card for places that don’t take credit, make it a debit card that you can also use at the issuing bank ATM when possible if you need cash.

The Swedish Investor the government leaves these types of classes out of the curriculum, so people end up not knowing how to budget and save money. They're then stuck in that 9 to 5 job that they're never going to leave because they didn't budget their income. Not going to lie, I was foolish with my money from ages 15 to 20. I don't have a nice stack of money to show for 5 years of working. I spent it on clothes, food, and other consumables that just wasted money. After age 20 I realized that I need to budget my money and live a more modest lifestyle.

Ecclesiastes 7:12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Proverbs 16:16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! 17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. 18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. 20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. 21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. 22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. 23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. 24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. 25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 23:4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. 5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. 2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. It's a shame that such an important subject is left out of school. Because of this, people need financially literate parents and/or friends, which could be rare depending on your socioeconomic status.

Do you have (or know of) a book that will help a teen on the verge of moving out to be better with his money, and learn how to manage all the difficult adulting and moneyhandling, in a way that helps him create a better future for himself? He's dyslectic, and does not have a great patience for books, so your audiobook summaries would be perfect. But I cannot find a specific video on your page that would fit those things I mentioned above... Do you have any recommendations? I promised to see what I could find about it. It would certainly help if it was more entertaining and less dry, considering his age.
