In GT, the kais gave Goku special training to grow a new tail so he can become a great ape, then become super saiyan 4.

wait a second. vegeta's power level as a great ape was 180,000, so it means that he in his great ape form at the saiyan saga could mop the floor out of the ginyu force. So, I think dbz kakarot is right. but i heard this somewhere else that the tail can grow 3 times maximum for a saiyan when cut off. this explaination is right because goku's tail was removed 3 times by oolong, roshi and grandpa gohan.

@BaansuUchiha what yes it is. Goku used kaioken against vegeta (a 2x multiplier) and goku power was at 8,000 before kaioken. Meaning vegeta had to be above a power level of 1,600

In GT, Bulma created a machine that lets Vegeta transform into a great ape without a tail, so Vegeta going super Saiyan 4 is because of the machine Bulma made and not because of him having his tail back.

It doesn't make sense Great ape transformation is basically a multiplier Doesn't matter what's your base level is, that transformation will give you 10x boost It would make sense to not grow a tail after attaining super saiyan transformation, making the great ape transformation useless, and thus not needed the tail to grow Which means vegeta and Gohan should have been able to grow up their tail back As Vegeta was in danger during namek saga and Gohan until the time chamber

Akira Toriyama would make any excuse to make the plot make sense. when it slowly doesn't at some points of the series. like how super form works than out of no where he says "S-cells and saiyans only have them if they're good guys" and yet Vegeta wasn't a full good guy at the time he had his super form. I think the s-cells activate if saiyans gets a Z boost. like a backup system rather what Tori's telling us. because that makes more sense rather "you have to be a good guy to have those cells." crap. the tail part didn't make sense. also on the fact in the past he said he didn't want a tail because of laziness. and his other excuse after that is trying to make Goku "human". U6 saiyans I let slide because all universes and worlds don't have the same rules and timelines. but THIS tails don't grow back just because they on a higher level? that's almost the same excuse of why he didn't want to keep drawing in goku's tail. and I just finish off this one youtuber saying that there tails are actually suppressing them.

To put it simply for those who never watched DB: As a Saiyan in their prime of youth, they will always grow their tails back. Once outside their youth (an adult) they will lose their ability to regrow their tails and basically get significantly “nerfed” in terms of capabilities. But at least they get that Zenkai boost everytime they get near 🪦

As of later in Z- Toriyama stated he disliked drawing tails so discontinued the presence of tails after Gohan became a teen, which he (would) have regrown it by then (as Goku was meant to regrow it before the final tournament in original DB but Kami permanently removed it for him by the age of 15-18 during his training). The “fan base” excuse of Hybrids not gaining tails because of their Earthling side is already inconsistent as Gohan (a hybrid Saiyan) had a tail since the very beginning but simply stopped being drawn and was decided to not be drawn for any Saiyans and hybrids later in the series including Trunks-Goten and now Pan.
