He's making a point. What's curious is you weren't effected when he talked about the white stereo types but as soon as soon as went the other direction you seemed immediately effected. Not implying anything because if roles were reversed it'd probably be the same. In the end the song has a good message.

@MissyGail4eva
@MissyGail4eva Жыл бұрын
Why is it curious? Why would it personally affect him to hear negative idioms regarding white people when he is not white? Were you deeply troubled on a personal level when the n word dropped? Or did you find it rather satisfying, a vicarious expression of your own inner desire to say bigoted rhetoric without consequence, instead pointing a finger at any objection with a smug 'both sides' retort, so omnipotent in your 'owning of the libtards'? That 'both sides' bullshit didn't work in Charleston, and just as with your fearless leader, it simply reveals the seething prejudice and contempt bubbling right beneath a thinly-veiled surface. But you do you, boo🌈ᥫ᭡

This reminds me of living in the hood as a white guy. I wouldn’t dare say the N word. But these dudes had white girlfriends that said it all the time. No one batted an eye. So why couldn’t I say it. Well I wasn’t about to find out, but how interesting this was. I’ll just add apparently it’s not as offensive of a word coming from white people as black people claim. They just want to control the word. Which makes no sense. When the white girls can say it.

@@ms.k3837 Nobody gave me a pass. A pass indicates some sort of wrong. It's just a word. If it offends you, then maybe look inside yourself and ask why you are bothered by it. Words are just words. You either let it roll off or you give them power over your mind and emotions. I was called cracker and white boy, and not in a nice way. It didn't make me angry or affect my mental state at all, because I didn't lend it power. I likewise didn't hold a grudge against the black people who used those words towards me, and I certainly didn't let it affect the way I saw all black folks. You choose it, period.

This song is all about stereotypes, and the different racist views that people have for specific groups. Some people look at Adam and see a 'White guy', instead of ignoring his skin colour and thinking of the environment he grew up in, where it was normal for him to say the word that affected you. He said in an interview (I think it was with Stevie Knight) that he was also trying to highlight how specific words can control people, and yet are pushed by the mainstream to cause division. For context though, all the people in the video are friends of his, he grew up running with gangs on the streets of Chicago, really 'living that life'. Either way, hope you realise all suggestions are done from a respectful place. We dig your channel, and I doubt anyone wanted to specifically offend you. Peace, bruv :)

It's more about how there are good and bad characteristics in all races, and sometimes, we can all live up to the stereotypes set on us by others, as well as how the system sets up those situations to cause division within communities. It also shows the other side of how those stereotypes, though sometimes partially true, definitely aren't representative of our cultures as a whole. I think it's probably also important to note Adam's upbringing. He grew up with mixed groups in the hoods of Chicago, where those terminologies were most likely more acceptable and readily used amongst friends without more negative conitations. #HOG

While I think you have a very good head on your shoulders as several others have mentioned in comments this is all stereotypes. Adam grew up between the neighborhood you see here in Chicago, and then his grandpa’s farm working 12-14 hour days. He was rap battling in this same neighborhood. He went to prison and had to come out the other side to be a single dad. That line about how it’s generally black inner city drug dealers putting rims on their Cadillac? That’s his caddy with the rims. He understands cause he came up in the culture on both ends. He did an interview with Stevie Knight on this topic if you happen to wanna watch it. This was a great reaction.

Whether he says THAT word or not, is he telling the truth? To me, that's all that matters. The only way to defeat that word is to stop giving it power. I know where the word comes from, look up the Germanic and Latin definitions for it, which is what the English language is based on. The world literally means black. Or a person of a dark complexition. I'm not saying that gives me a pass, but on the other side, why does it give you one? People who get upset by a white person saying that word keeps power in the word. Stop getting upset, take the power away.

In formal logic the pattern of this song would be written as A:B::C:D or A is to B as C is to D. A and C are lower class representatives while B and D are hard working people trying to do their best. Adam uses the stereotype vs roll model comparison to show the differences; Then he finishes by declaring how we are pitted against each other by "They" (media, politicians, elites, etc.) Hope you continue to check out more ACAL.

You hit it on the head with the "it depends on the person" with getting the pass. I am white and was a barber for about 5 years and I used to get told all the time "you can say it bruh, just say it once, come on bro we get you" all sorts of things when my boys would try to get me to say it. I never did as I never wanted it to be a part of my vocabulary, because what happens when I get comfortable saying it and say it around the wrong person and I gotta do the "but my black friends said I could" lol. I will never understand racist people though honestly black or white (yes black people can be racist). When you are being formed in your mother's womb you don't get to choose what color you are going to be so to hold that against someone is the peak of idiocy. I treat others the way I want to be treated and I judge people based off of who they are not what they look like.

When Adam refers to the different stereotypes, you should note that he's not referring to any entire race, just those who fit the social mold. Even as a white person who understand white stereotypes naturally, black stereotypes are well defined to me, as well. Not every black is an N, a G, a bum, or the other B. People put themselves into those social categories by the way they act, behave and present themselves and then get offended when others verbally acknowledge it. I may be old, white and nerdy, but I'm owning that sheet and not afraid to hear it said.

Well, you shouldn’t be he talks shit about the white people just as much he didn’t say you are a N-word!! You should because he explains it very well if you listen to the song all the way through it’s amazing

It is interesting how we are programmed to react in certain ways to certain words triggering certain emotions and behaviors. Control the narrative and control the mind. While we are all out here getting offended by words the real players are moving us around the board at will. Stay open friend.

If you want to understand Adam’s point of view on this go check out his conversation with Stevie Knight on Stevie Knight’s KZbin channel. Stevie took offense to this video hard. So hard in fact that he and Adam did a live conversation about it. They left the conversation on good terms. But the beginning of the conversation was very tense.

If words makes you angry.. go deaf. People are so complex. . And then others are so simple.. it's a sad world we live in.

Sorry to all the blacks but y'all get way to triggered over White people saying "Nigga" umm you should of been in Maine schools in the 1990's when us whites were being called "White N1gg3r$" for just listening to Black Rap Hence were the slang word "Wigga" comes from. Yes I also know the other end of it as Black students were being called "Oreo's" for listening to White Music... it's time we Burry our differences and move the fk on...

You need to look at ACals work. I worked at an HBCU. Most of the employees would call each other Nigga… it made me so uncomfortable I actually asked them to give it a break.. Adams point is y’all say they, but he can’t. All white dudes are Racist.. that’s the myth he’s addressing. From working at that HBCU, ended any residual racism in my blood. I took the time to get to know the people. That’s the myth. People don’t get to know the people … that with the exception of possibly the work environment. I still consider my time as the token white guy, one of the best experiences in my life. I grew up in Detroit in the 60’s. Tough times. Watching the people rioting and burning down their own neighborhoods and stores. Like Adam, I judge people by the content of their individual hearts and their works. Not color!! I’ll will be straight up… some of the students showed me how racist they were. But I’m not a hater. But I’m glad I changed jobs before the George Floyd fallout. By the way, I was born into poverty. My life began in the projects. In Detroit…
