Why Digitone 2 when Syntakt can do this

Sounds great 🤘 Syntakt is almost perfect. It's deep but doesn't feel overwhelming like the Digitone. That's my biggest reservation about the DN2 is that it would just complete things for me.

I think both devices still have their place. Syntakt’s analog machines are of course warmer than anything you get on DN2, and IMO it sounds better as a dedicated drum machine. DN2 is a better sound design box

@@Mystiskmusli I have no doubt. I just find almost everything from it on here to sound pretty generic and boring in terms of sound design, more so than the other elektron boxes. not sure why. maybe its just the flood of samey techno stuff

The Syntakt still has it's use. It's super immediate in terms of sound design. The chord machine needs a better wavetable. One with the proper basic waveforms for starters. The DT2 is much deeper and is a great master sequencer.

If you already had one yeah, keep the ST. For me the stars were aligned. I bought a ST as first Elektron gear to me. 2 weeks later DT2 came out so I immediately returned ST and swapped for a DT2 even. Love the DT2. I bought a Digitone 1 to pair with the DT2, 2 weeks before Digitone 2 was released 😂. Went back to store and swapped for a DN2. Mission complete, now to blast off into space 🤯 with this DIgitone 2 that just arrived. I’m not a huge sample guy, so this machine is going to be my domesticated partner. 🥰

The DN2 is a fantastic machine. The learning curve however for a newbie is quite steep. It's the perfect companion of the DT2. Both are great machines. I'm selling my ST right now. And probably my A4 soon as well. Have to clear some space :)

Very sick. Any post processing on this one? Sounds really clean, I feel like I sometimes have trouble getting that separation, but I also make some very busy stuff. I’ve found that just a nice fast bit of compression on the master really helps things to pop out a little more.

syntakt isn't polyphonic right ? DN2 is. I personally find it easier to mix with DN2 as the resolution is higher so to my ears I can separate the tones better vs analog. Not sure what the bit rate is for digital synths on the syntakt but on DN/DN2 is 32bit

16 tracks share 16 voices total so yes theres poly but still limited, and theres midi tricks for making Syntakt polyphonic, just comes down to which sounds and fx you like better
