I hate how when I hear the phrase ''Live- Action'' instead of being in the real world I know it means 90% CGI and Green Screen. You can hate live-action 101 Dalmatians from the 90s but it at least had real dogs 99% of the time except in scenes where it would be impossible or too dangerous for animals.

I agree. Not everything lasts forever and as I’ve grown up I was excited to see what all new movies and companies/ new ideas and people would make them only to grow up and realize all the old companies are still making movies but they are worse and less imaginative and successful then there old ones. A shell of what they once were. And there’s not really anyone coming out with anything new or different or giving any competition either (thanks to monopolies) idk things with Disney and animated movies played out weird

@@elliotsturtplus340I never said Disney had to die. Through the years companies come and go. Big legacy companies eventually can fall and phase out or continue and become what it is now. But honestly I would more probably be more likely to agree that Disney doesn't have to die and be less harsh on them if they as a company were just having a bad era of animation and movies and had also not monopolized almost the entire animation movie industry by getting rid of smaller companies (like blue sky and many others) which made it very hard for other animation companies to make a name in the industry oh and other things Disney as a company is responsible for such as ruined copyright laws forever, refused let grieving parents put a spiderman logo on thier dead sons grave, along with just being a awful greedy company. I in general think disney is a pretty bad company that isn't really making good movies even to distract from what else thier company does. I wouldn't really mind at this rate if Disney was to end it's legacy considering alot of what comes to people's mind when thinking modern 'disney' is to some degree a greedy company that doesn't listen to it's audience.

Look no further than Skydance, who snapped up John Lassester when Disney fired him. Blue Sky impressed me with the Peanuts movie. Sergio Pablo’s might be this generation’s Don Bluth. And over at Sony they are turning out stuff like Spoder-Verse and Mitchell’s vs. the Machines. The future looks bright for feature animation (for everyone but Disney, unless they seriously up their game again).

And they're even doing representation better than Disney. Miles from Spiderverse feels so human. He has flaws. He has obstacles. He has strengths and weaknesses. He knows he can never be Peter Parker but he's also not trying to be. He's trying to be his own Spiderman and watching him do that is thrilling and gripping, as well as him struggle with his relationship with his Dad. Katie from the Mitchells vs the Machines is gay and yet that has nothing to do with the narrative, the plot or anything with her character arc. She's just a quirky and wacky kid who has to learn that her family has value and that running away from it is wrong and short sighted. And I could keep going. Sony is proving you can have diversity while keeping the story and characters front and center. See Disney? It's not that hard.

The reason why the Super Mario Bros movie was such a success was because it was a love letter to the franchise and for the fans. It may have been simple but it was still a delight to watch and see the characters with their core traits that made them so lovable and memorable. Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse was a massive hit for not only having good storytelling but also with a blend of numerous animation styles along with with creating their own that made it such a groundbreaking feature with the release of the first one. Disney has to stop and look at what they have doing and listen to what the fans want. The original 2D animated movies were classics and only few live-actions had been approved of being decent but The Little Mermaid disregarded what made the original so great and made too many changes that it did not even feel like it was of the original. Besides, Disney was brought to life by 2D films and maybe the company should take some time off and reflect on what made those stories so great. On a different note, Elemental has not been released yet and we should not judge something so harshly until it has been released. It has potential and if it does not hold up I will not have any comments.

The Mario Movie truly surprised me, while I don't consider it a great film, far from it, I was pleasantly surprised that Illumination managed to make a story in which all of the characters were likable, even the villain. I think part of the reason why it became the most successful video game movie is because of Nintendo's involvement on the production and how it embraced its origins, unlike other films like Resident Evil, Doom, Rampage, even the Sonic movies don't feel so close to the video games Spider-Verse, on the other hand, may be one of most mature animated movies of recent times, and I mean due to its themes, kids and adults can still enjoy the story and it doesn't talk the audience down compared to others, something that I think Pixar couldn't manage with Lightyear

@@nas0518 I’ll be honest, most of their films aren’t even “bad”, they’re just low effort. Most of there films are good for kids and merely tolerable for adults. If you like the films, then that’s great! I’m not going to tell you that you shouldn’t like a film that I don’t or because it’s “childish”. I mean, I still rewatch Ninjago. But the fact is that most adults don’t like Illumination. And if a film is merely tolerable to most adults, then it’s most likely a low effort film. Especially when you have other “kids” films that everyone enjoys, like Puss in Boots 2, or both Spiderverse films. Or many older films. I grew up watching Dreamworks, so I didn’t watch many renaissance Disney films until I was like 15 or 16. I can confidently say that, without a nostalgic bias, Disney is not what it used to be.

@@adinom687 It’s funny how you used the Spiderverse movies and Puss in Boots 2 to draw that comparison when the two studios behind those movies had their share of low effort movies too. This is especially true for Sony Animation. Did you already forget that DreamWorks made movies like The Boss Baby and Trolls?? The 2010s in general wasn’t the best decade for them outside of the HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda movies. Before Spiderverse, most Sony Animation movies weren’t very popular themselves. The Emoji Movie became their most hated movie, and it’s rather impressive how Spiderverse became their apology letter from there. Even though I don’t like how the producers of Across the Spiderveres treated their animators (and how that fact was revealed _after_ the movie made money). Sony never knew when to treat their animators right, but that’s another story! Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Warner Bros’ animated movies? It clearly seems like they're struggling the most out of all the other animated studios. Ironically, WB used to be one of Disney’s biggest rivals during “the golden age” of animation until they fell off theatrically, and most of their animated films have always been nonstarters. WB saw the success of the Lego Movie franchise for a short time…..but then they started adapting their own properties into movies like Scoob and Space Jam 2. At this point, you KNOW things are looking bad for them when a movie based on Teen Titans Go became their last good movie.

I hate saying it but even hoping for another "Renaissance" period has a different meaning and context now than it did in, say, 1989. While the Walt Disney Company was pretty powerful even at its lowest point in the mid-1980s, it was still enough of a struggling underdog and didn't have the reputation it does now so that when Ashman/Menken/Katzenberg/Eisner took over and started churning out hit after hit in the 90's - while I know there were naysayers even then - it was hard NOT to be genuinely happy that it had returned to form for arguably the first time since before Walt's death. Nowadays, the company's reputation for just buying off other studios or IPs and slapping their label on it, in addition to its habit of remaking its originals in a bid to recapture its glory days while also marking those past films as problematic and the "woke" stuff (which tbh is the problem with the company I care least about) means its much harder to "root" for the company to have another resurgence in the same mold because they seem less deserving of it. Wish does look promising but I know for a fact that a fraction of the target audience might just skip it just as a means of "flipping off the rat" (also I have no idea if this went into development prior to Puss in Boots The Last Wish, but given how wildly popular it became earlier this year, the "Wish" movie has this weird "marking its territory" feel to it -- almost like saying "Remember WE'RE the ones who originated wishing on a star and don't you forget it"-- it comes off as pandering tbh).

We gave up on Walt Disney Co on the 3rd of June 2003 because of other reasons and haven't seen any of their movies, bought their plastic and useless props, or been to their parks. We were absolutely heartbroken by how the management and security team treated us. The day Walt Disney died, Disneyland and their creatives died with him. Any hope of having unique, thoughtful, provocative and wonderous storytelling has been long gone. Then some person at work told me to check out the new Little Mermaid movie. As I watched the preview I felt nauseated and infuriated. My cousins whom I grew up with watching Disney movies with over time [before the mergers and the acquisitions and the shareholders threw their spoons in] my cousins and a friend watched the preview. My cousin angrily told me "This feels like Disney is saying F*** You Fans! Shut Up And Hear Us Quack We Know What We Are Doing And You Are GONNA F****K LIKE IT" This is Disney's new motto. It's so sad that a man with a dream and a group of amazingly creative people made something beautiful only to be destroyed by capitalism, greediness and gluttons.

Have you ever noticed that these new Disney “Woke” movies always portray interracial relationships to be a white man and a black woman but never a black man and a white woman? Well there is a lot of history to this and it all dates back to slavery. But I would assume that since Walt Disney is a white man they don’t want to chuckhold Walt by portraying a black man dating a white woman. They will never portray a white woman dating a black/Hispanic/whatever man because of cuckholdry. I feel like you're being too harsh on Wish. I get that it's cool to hate on Disney these days and there are a ton of good reasons to criticize them, but I'd also like to give credit where it's due in that it looks like they are trying something new for them. It doesn't have to look 100% like Spiderverse or Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, because then people would criticize them for "copying" those movies, so it just feels like a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation where Disney can never be given credit, no matter what. Who knows, maybe the movie will turn out to not be all that great in the end, but we've only been given a single teaser of footage so there's not much to really go off of. Maybe the animation will be further refined and enhanced with the next trailer but even this looks way more appealing to me than how generic and lifeless Strange World looked. Overall, I have a good feeling about this one and I appreciate that they're at least taking a step in the right direction.

Universal did announce that Illumination will actually be starting a Zelda Movie in the near future, and people are saying it's not gonna have a too cartoony style. Illumination has yet to change their animation style this Zelda Movie will be bad looking. The Mario Movie still looks like an Illumination movie. It looks slightly different than their style normally, but you can tell it's a movie they made.
@isawalker4469
@isawalker4469 Жыл бұрын
True, but Illumination kinda does best with more cartoon-like characters, giving them someone more human, realistically done Link compared to the exaggerated versatility of a Mario or DK, is pretty odd. At least with the Mario Movie their style worked in the original art style’s favor. (Unless they do Windwaker, which could be pretty interesting honestly)
@ChaffyExpert
@ChaffyExpert Жыл бұрын
@@isawalker4469 I don't know, illumination seems to actually be good at expression, kind of like 2D even though it's not, it reminds me of it in that aspect. So while Zelda is grittier, if they can pull off a more realistic animation style with expression but less cartoon and saturated, it may work out. Story is probably going to be the toughest area for them really, aside from Despicable Me (the first one) they have yet to put out anything with a good story. For Mario nobody really expects a masterful story anyways but for Zelda it will need to both have a good story and i imagine be extremely clever considering the games have a lot of puzzles and problem solving in it, a fast paced action filled movie won't cut it. But I do think the animation itself is their strong point, I have faith that they can change it to have a theme fitting of Zelda. In terms of the animation they seem to at least know what they are doing, and it doesn't feel soulless even if the movie pretty much is. Unlike Disney, such also had soulless greed driven movies, but importantly, they feel soulless and expressionless.

I know people are joking right now, saying Zelda will probably have licensed songs and a comedy focus, don't know if people are serious or not. While I'm not a fan of the majority of Illumination's films, save for Sing 1 & 2 and Mario, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and trust them with the project. I mean, Sony made The Emoji Movie before making Into the Spider-Verse, maybe Zelda could be their first movie with a more serious approach, there's probably tons of talented artists working at their U.S. and France branches who would love to make a worthy Zelda adaptation, it also depends who is making the script and what idea does have Nintendo in their minds
@ChaffyExpert
@ChaffyExpert Жыл бұрын
@@pablocasas5906 don't forget the first despicable me, that was actually a really good movie and probably the only thing keeping illumination afloat to be honest up until the Mario movie anyways. Especially if Nintendo overseas the project.

I don't know why you're bagging on the animation style of Wish. Does it look like Sophia the First? Yes. However, Disney has used subpar animation in the past with some of them being classics due to their stories. It also follows the same logic of Spiderverse. Spiderverse is styled to look like a superhero comic. Wish, with its cell-shaded characters and watercolor backgrounds, is styled to look like a picture book. I'm more concerned with the story and the characters, because that is where a film lives or dies. And Disney has had a problem with animation and even general novelty since Walt died. Eisner tried to kill Disney Animation in the 80's and was ready to pull the plug after The Black Cauldron bombed. He also sabotaged the release of Return to Oz because he didn't like the direction it took. However, The Great Mouse Detective was a financial success and The Little Mermaid was Disney's grand return to dominance as they finally beat Bluth (though Eisner did manage to sabotage Rescuers Down Under). I'm with those who say Disney should go back to 2D animation. It would now be novel for a western company, and the animation in Mary Poppins returns was eye catching.

I think if Disney made original 2D movies in the styles of Paperman or Klaus that would already be *miles* better than the soulless throwaways they’ve been doing recently. Also Turning Red and Luca were beautiful pieces from Pixar and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of that fun 3D style either. The hyperrealistic animation is getting old, Spiderverse and Mario work because they push the boundaries of animation. Hyperrealism limits what can be achieved with animation, animation is supposed to be fun and lively because you can do so much with it that you wouldn’t be able to do in real life or in a realistic concept. Disney has truly lost sight of what made them successful in the first place, that being animation and innovation.

you can say the same about videogames, every single game is trying to be the next last of us or dark souls with the hiperrealistic style (even god damm god of war) that at times it feel like they trying to sell is a intereactive live-action movie rather than an actual game. The reason why nintendo is still doing strong is because they are great on evolving games in both gameplay and style. I mean mario wasn't never about story but mario odyssey was so much fun that i didn't give a shit about realism or deep storytelling, or even the modern zelda games like breath of the wild or tears of the kingdom because they have their own unique looking style despite not looking like the last of us

I honestly just miss the conflict these movies used to have. For example, in The Little Mermaid, the spell makes her forget that she has to kiss Eric before the 3 days are up, which is great and all (I guess) but that completely removes the imminent threat from her point of view, and this is bad because as the audience, we are following the story through her point of view. So we essentially are just watching Ariel indulge in the human world's treasures, which immediately demotes her to a passive character. The same goes with Encanto-ish. I didn't mind that movie but what was the actual point to it. The magic is slowly going away, Mirabel finds out she is kind of the reason for it, then they lose their powers and realize they didn't need it, then we are supposed to care when they get it back because she is the magic or whatever... IT DOES NOT WORK. And I see what they were trying to do with the whole family dynamics and the family trauma, but there is no imminent danger, threat, anything really. Mulan, the live action, also struggled with this. A woman who is already a prodigy has to battle someone. That doesn't make me root for her or make me care for her journey. In the animated version, she had to grow and discover it is her femininity and her little quirks that ultimately make her as strong, if not stronger the men and she saves the day after being put through all these challenges. I would like to see some conflict, something that makes me worry about these characters, something that makes me sympathize with them, etc.

My cousins whom I grew up watching Disney movies with over time [before the mergers and the acquisitions and the shareholders threw their spoons in] my cousins and a friend watched the preview. My cousin angrily told me "This feels like Disney is saying F*** You Fans! Shut Up And Hear Us Quack We Know What We Are Doing And You Are GONNA F****K LIKE IT" This is Disney's new motto. The costumes are amazing, and all the characteristics are right. I loved that live action, and I thought it was the best one of them all. I am tentatively optimistic about some of the future ones because one or two of them were stories that they did not do correctly in the animated versions, so I want to see what they can do with the live action, if they’re going to change it, and the others. What Disney needs most is the same thing all mega corporations need most.......Competition. Sony pushed the envelope. So did Pixar, in the beginning. Like with any other consumer product, competition is what drives innovation, creativity, and a rise in quality. One mega giant entertainment corporation to rule them all destroys all of that, no matter who it is. The expectation that Disney can be all things to all people is really, really unrealistic, IMO. All these hate mongers out there on the internet think that its diversity that is the boogeyman, the big problem. Actually, no. Its the astounding lack of diversity of thought that comes from having a few monopolies control pretty much every movie, TV show or video game available. We need more Sony's. I'd love to see Disney and WB both get broken up. Have Star Wars, Pixar, MCU, Discovery, Time all back to being separate entities. More competition= better product. But instead, the masses seem to prefer taking out a bunch of bigotry and mysogeny on every attempt these McDonalds of movies make to try to not look like they are making these movies as if in a factory, formulaic, cookie-cutter. I mean, having a handful of diverse characters isn't much. Its the least they can do. Thats why I think complaining about the diversity attempts is wrong-headed and not quite getting it. But getting riled up about race- swapping or about "too-strong" female characters distracts the mindless masses from the fact that there's only a handful of huge monopolies that have crushed all but a few good, smaller entertainment companies. Good, unique, creative ideas don't often get a chance in the current risk-adverse entertainment market. And yes, as you see from Across the Spider verse, a lot of those new, creative, unique ideas also have diverse characters, just naturally. If given a fair chance, some will and some won't. But it would be the natural result of each director, producer, script writer's unique artistic vision. Not a product of screen tests and marketing graphs and numbers. We are NOT suffering from "too much diversity." Entertainment is suffering from too little diversity and from the most important reason for diversity, which really is the diversity of thought that comes from different points of view and different lived experiences. Megacorps crush all of that. But again, not sure the rest of the American public is capable of understanding that right now. We just don't engage our brains, unfortunately.

I think Disney need to hire more really good writers and directors to make the stories. They need to revisit the golden days of old school Walt Disney and observe why they were huge hits in the first place. I know this is gonna sound insane, but imagine if they hired The Daniels for example to write and direct a Disney animated movie (With giving them full creative control and freedom of course). Then they need to work with the animation art styles. Bring back 2D hand drawn traditional animation in theaters to have more variety, then make creative art styles for their 3D animated movies. At last, do a better marketing for the movies. Release merchandise. Strange World for example didn’t have any toys. And that’s just how i think they should do with their animation department. I think that could apply with their live-action productions as well.

i loved disney when i was growing up, from the breathtaking animations to the characters that transported me to another world. at one point of my life i even wanted to become an animator and join disney to create and spread the very magic that i grew up with. but now it feels so soulless, and more of something thats made with the intention to be mass produced, something just feels missing from it. as an artist watching the spiderverse movie just warms my heart, every frame was brimming with love and devotion from their animators from the diverse artstyles to the details on every character. its an understatement to say that it takes a lot of creative design and its a VERY ambitious project but behind all that there is a story that it wants to tell, and it's not afraid put everything its got into doing so. they're not afraid of holding back and to me thats exactly what disney isnt doing. theyre sticking to what's "correct" and whats "safe" be it for political reasons or for their audience. its like theyre trying to cater to everyone while also not doing it well. movies like encanto did well because it connected to people, its not afraid to show the cracks behind the family, its not afraid to show the vulnerability of their supposedly flawless families. even more, it connected to a specific group of people resonating with their own real life experiences. the amount of people talking about how they felt seen online through the movie was astounding, and to me thats what makes the movies so special. personally, i just want disney to let everything go, to forget about the different expectations that everyone wants them to achieve or to make it as marketable as possible, and just focus on a story that they want to tell. they are the company that inspired millions to dream big yet they themselves have stopped dreaming, instead tying themselves down to what's conventionally safe. with how the world is changing and more issues coming up, i think disney should really rediscover the love that they started with from the start. because as they are now, they will just be burning themselves out into a crisp thats but a hallow shell compared to what they used to be

Disney IS dead. You seem to think that just getting back to basics is a simple thing. It's not. The company is rotten on the inside. Disney Animation and Pixar committed suicide when they fired John Lasseter and all the talent loyal to Lasseter left with him. And Disney in general is focused on inflating their stock by illegitimate means, not by creating value for its customers which produce profit. If Disney ever manages to make a classic film again, it will be a fluke. When it comes to these properties, only a rogue creative team that is given a niche project with little oversight can ever hope to make something really good. Like when Picard season 3 was handed over to a talented creator and a Star Trek lover with experience working on Star Trek Voyager and Enterprise. Alex Kurtzman decided he wanted to focus on other things, so he tossed Picard Season 3 to Terry Matalas, gave him a shoestring budget, and let him do whatever he wanted because Kurtzman couldn't care less about Picard anymore. That is the only scenario where Disney might make something great again... if a talented team, who care about storytelling, get handed a project that the company doesn't really care about, and they are able to make something good without Disney ruining it.

I just hope that in the Shrek 5 movie, once Disney buys DreamWorks, all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies appear, especially all the characters from Rise of the Guardians movie, from Frozen movies, from How to Train Your Dragon movies, from Brave movie, from Tangled movie, from Moana movie, from Raya and the Last Dragon movie, from Encanto movie and the most important character in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, and thus, they will be the new main characters of the Shrek 5 movie so that they help Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others to defeat Rumpelstiltskin, Death and all the Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, as the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Drizella Tremaine, Maleficent, Marina del Rey, Ursula, Gaston, Forte, Jafar, Sa'luk, Governor Ratcliffe, Shan Yu, Doctor Facilier, Mother Gothel, Zhan Tiri, Te Kā, Tamatoa, the Red Death, Drago Bludvist, Grimmel the Grisly, Mor'du, Prince Hans, Pitch Black, the Druun, the Soldiers and Morgana, and to prevent Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks from ruling and destroying the kingdom of Princess Fiona and King Artie called Far Far Away, Shrek along with his wife named Princess Fiona will need help from their new friends which are the Official Disney Princes and Princesses, as Prince Florian, Princess Snow White, Prince Charming, Princess Cinderella, Prince Philip, Princess Aurora, Prince Eric, Princess Ariel, Prince Adam, Princess Belle, Prince Aladdín, Princess Jasmine, Prince John Smith, Princess Pocahontas, Prince Li Shang, Princess Fa Mulán, Prince Naveen, Princess Tiana, Prince Flynn Rider, Princess Rapunzel, Maui, Queen Moana Waialiki, Hiccup Haddock, Princess Mérida, Kristoff Bjorgman, Queen Anna, Jack Frost, Princess Elsa, Princess Raya, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Anastasia Tremaine and Melody, although in reality, Melody is the first and only that she is not a true Official Disney Princess along with Anastasia Tremaine, because Anastasia Tremaine is not born of royalty, while, Melody made her debut in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea and it is also because she is the first and only daughter of an Official Disney Princess, but Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others also need Anastasia Tremaine and Melody's help to protect and save their kingdom called Far Far Away away from Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, because Anastasia Tremaine is now a good person, while, Melody is the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the death of Queen Lillian, because since her husband named King Harold passed away in the Shrek 3 movie, she has felt heartbroken and that caused his own death in his kingdom called Far Far Away, and all the inhabitants of Princess Fiona and King Artie's kingdom called Far Far Away are saddened by the death of Queen Lillian, because now she is with her husband named King Harold in heaven, and now they have lost their queen, that means now the kingdom of Far Far Away needs a new queen and King Artie said that his love interest, girlfriend, fiancée and former classmate from Worcestershire school called Princess Guinevere would be the one to be the new Queen of Far Far Away, so King Artie decided to return to his old school called Worcestershire along with Shrek, with his older cousin Princess Fiona, with Donkey, with Dragon, with Puss in Boots, with Kitty Softpaws, with Perrito, with the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, with the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and with the others to meet again with their friends from their school who are actually Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany and their love interest, girlfriend and fiancée Princess Guinevere to take them back to their kingdom called Far Far Away, and in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the romance of all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies, especially the romance of Maui and Queen Moana Waialiki, the romance of Hiccup Haddock and Princess Mérida, the romance of Jack Frost and Princess Elsa, the romance of Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany and the romance of King Artie and Princess Guinevere, because I think in the Shrek 5 movie, Maui will be Queen Moana Waialiki's love interest, boyfriend and fiancé, while Hiccup Haddock will be Princess Mérida's love interest and boyfriend, Princess Tiffany will be Prince Lancelot's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée and Princess Guinevere will be King Artie's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée, because Queen Moana Waialiki is going to fall in love with Maui, Princess Mérida is going to fall in love Hiccup Haddock, Princess Tiffany is going to fall in love with Prince Lancelot and Princess Guinevere is going to fall in love with King Artie, but they don't know how to tell them their feelings towards them and neither how to win their hearts, because every time Queen Moana Waialiki gets too close to Maui when it comes to true love, she gets very nervous with him, while which in the case of Princess Mérida is also the same, because whenever Princess Mérida gets too close to Hiccup Haddock when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous with him, in the case of Princess Tiffany it is also the same, because whenever Princess Tiffany gets too close to Prince Lancelot when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, and in the case of Princess Guinevere too, because every time Princess Guinevere gets too close to King Artie when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, but luckily for them, Princess Fiona will help Queen Moana Waialiki to win the heart of Maui, also Princess Mérida to win the heart of Hiccup Haddock, also Princess Tiffany to win the heart of Prince Lancelot and also Princess Guinevere to win the heart of King Artie, and I also want that in the Shrek movie 5, Jack Frost will be Princess Elsa's love interest and boyfriend, because Jack Frost leaves fall in love with Princess Elsa, but he doesn't know how to tell her his feelings and how to win her heart, because every time Jack Frost gets too close to Princess Elsa when it comes to true love, he gets very nervous with her, but fortunately for him, Shrek will help Jack Frost to win the heart of Princess Elsa, except Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, because now they will be the only Official Disney Princesses who do not need to have love interests and who can remain single forever, and I also say the same for Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, because like Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, she doesn't need a love interest either, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the rivalry between King Artie and Queen Anna because they both want to compete in a challenge to see who is the best monarch a of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, because both want to do what is best for their own kingdom, because King Artie wants to do what is best for his kingdom called Far Far Away because now he is the new King of Far Far Away and Queen Anna wants to do the best for their kingdom called Arendelle because now she is the new Queen of Arendelle, but at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Queen Anna become best friends in the world, because at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, they both learned from their mistakes that they have made since their challenge to compete to see who is the best monarch of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, and that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Princess Guinevere see their first true love kiss and that they become a romantic couple, just like Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany, and also that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, Maui, Hiccup Haddock, Kristoff Bjorgman, Jack Frost, Prince Lancelot and King Artie become the new official members of the Official Disney Princes, while Queen Anna, Princess Elsa, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Princess Tiffany and Princess Guinevere become the new official members of the Official Disney Princesses and that one day, Princess Tiffany will be the wife of Prince Lancelot and that they have a son and a daughter, that is, a family in the future, and that also Princess Guinevere is the wife of King Artie, that they also have a son and a daughter, that is, a family and that she becomes the new Queen of Far Far Away in the future.

I don’t think that could ever happen, as DreamWorks’ very existence is based on spitting on Disney, being a studio found by bitter ex-Disney employees. The first Shrek film is probably the most in your face example, but you could see some of this in their other films

Disney should have gone the opposite direction for their 100th year movie; instead of doing 3D that looks 2D like Spiderverse and Puss in Boots did, they should have done 2D that looks 3D... and there is precedent in that style with Klaus. It would give us that classic, traditional look that Disney used to be known and loved for, while providing a fresh take on it, something that could potentially stand on equal (yet different) ground with these banger animated films from other studios. It could be a love letter to their origin, a proper showing of how far they've come from simplistic hand drawn animation to something that even a trained eye might at first mistake as being CGI, that there's still value in those manual skills even if they've been adapted to a digital world. What a flex THAT would be...

This was a good video essay, but, I would recommend that you add section breaks and slow down your talking speed. I know you mentioned early on the sections you were going to talk about, but, without a section break, I found it hard to keep up when you transitioned from talking about Disney's animation to Pixar to Marvel to Star Wars. Regardless, I am glad to have stumbled on this video.

My cousins whom I grew up watching Disney movies with over time [before the mergers and the acquisitions and the shareholders threw their spoons in] my cousins, myself and a friend watched the preview of TLM. My cousin angrily told me "This feels like Disney is saying F*** You Fans! Shut Up And Hear Us Quack We Know What We Are Doing And You Are GONNA F****K LIKE IT" This is Disney's new motto. It's so sad that a man with a dream and a group of wonderfully creative people made something beautiful only to be destroyed by capitalism, greediness and gluttons. Any plans for them to remake and retakes it will all fail until they have nothing left but empty movie seats, and a few people reminiscing walking about the semi-empty attraction parks. And the rest of us will be left with an old skeleton of what they used to be. By building over pre-owned land by the Natives they have destroyed everything that used to live there.

Ok but if they ask you what you want them to change are you actually gonna be able to say anything other than “idk make more good stuff?” Cuz they’d probably just respond with “thats what we’ve been trying to do?” Like of course make less remakes and space things out more but besides that would telling them to “change” really do anything if you don’t have an actual good thesis as to what they should change besides “make better stuff?”

You know the ONE thing I would want to see Disney do? Make their first R rated movie. They said they weren't going to go past the G rating, but then they made PG movies. Then they said they wouldn't go past PG but they made PG-13 with Pirates of the Caribbean. A live action Hunchback of Notre Dame would definitely be a good candidate for an R rated Disney movie.

The best person to make or lead a team on a peice of work is somone who is passionate about their product. They will push themselves and their crew to make fantastic work, can give orders clearer because they have an idea of how it is made, and are more likely to make media worth checking out. Weather or not people check it out is a different matter, but if you make somthing truly great that reaches a lot of people, you can cemet as somthing worth checking out and build upon it. Now, the higher ups at disney have to ONLY be concerned with money and nothing else, that approach always creates mediocre, or horrible, creatively devoid work. They don’t care what they're making, as long as what they're making is money. They don’t care if they barely have any ideas to expand, a new sequel announced! It's more likely to lose them money in the long run, but they don’t care because they have their headphones on, and former reputation to back them up, not responding to dissatisfaction because they're clearly not aware they they’re pushing out garbage. Illumination is similar, but at least they stamp every garbage bag with old memes. To be taken ironically, or so bad its funny. Disney makes twice the amount of garbage, sautéing their mona lisas on the wall to turn them into scrap, then tosses the bag out to a stand, selling them for 20 bucks a pop. I never thought I would think Illumination is better than disney, but here we are.

This is an admirable video which sums up the number 2,3,4,5,6 and 7 reasons (in order of importance) that Disney has been failing in the last 10 years. However, it seems to side step by far the biggest reason almost entirely. Probably responsible alone for 70% of the decline. I want to know why Aldone decided to ignore the elephant in the room.

Thing I'd do: Marvel: give more creative freedom to do what they want with the characters and the stories they tell as well as tone. Star wars: more stuff like andor, tv shows and movies that have nothing to do with the Jedi or sith, lightsabers or the force. Like marvel take more risks with the story telling and tones. Animation: be more innovative with the story telling and experiment, with the animation styles. Not just stories that are for kids but older teens and adults. Reboots: only reboot something that had a good idea but the directing, writing or technology at the time couldn't support it. And if you're going to reboot something don't do a shot for shot remake(lion king). Directors: let the people you hired them to do direct the movie the way they want unless it presents a problem.

What do you mean, "the Mario Movie has no story"? Just because the story is simple (and rightly so, since it's mostly and clearly aimed at children), it doesn't mean it has no story. A movie's plot needn't be overly complex in order to make it a good movie.

Pixar has been copied by all the other studios, who rightly are now looking for new, more personal styles. When no one is making "Pixar-style" movies anymore, there's going to be a need for someone to make them. If Pixar abandoned classic CGI it would be like when Disney abandoned 2D animation to follow the trend of the moment.

You spittin' facts up in here! I agree with everything you said in this video! I want to see Disney go back to their creative renaissance style animation and storytelling to tell even more creative stories. To say Wish was a "century in the making" is a little pretentious in my opinion. While it may end up being a good film on its own... It doesn't deserve to be the film the culminates Disney's 100th anniversary. It looks very mid in its execution. Again I'm cautiously optimistic about it. I want it (and Elementals) to do well...but they don't grab me the way they should. Disney does need to get they shit together and knock it off making these live action Disney Ripoffs. I call them ripoffs because they retread old ground and make it worse than its original and that's sad....Plus something tells me Stich in "live action" is going to be nightmare fuel. No thank you.

i love how disney got soooo popular off their classic disney villains and then decided they hate villains now and failed to do twist villains for years. like, literally no one wants twist villains from disney. their no-villain stories are better but honestly i think they should just go back to having villains, at least for most of their stories. disney doesn't seem capable of consistently producing movies that actually have enough nuance to make the lack of villain work. like encanto was good but that's one out of the dozens of movies they've released. also we don't get iconic disney villain songs anymore. poor unfortunate souls. be prepared. HELLFIRE. all iconic songs we need more villain songs. also they should go back to 2d animation

If you ask me, Disney needs a complete house clean. The current management has shown that they don't care about caring well written stories and likeable characters, and they only care about pandering for people who are neither fans, or care about anything other than skin color and gender. We need to clean modern Disney from it's woke ideology, and fill it with people who actually CARE about bringing all people together through good stories, regardless of where they come from. Moreover, the people that SHOULD manage Disney need to respect the vision of the creators of all the brands that they are integrating into themselves, like George Lucas' Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Sure, new people can come up with good ideas about established brands, ones that can even top over the original creators', but these ideas still need to be respectful to the source material, and if the original creators are telling you that the new ideas and the established brand DON'T go well together, then you HAVE to listen to the creators, and not to a bunch of twitter VERMIN, who know NOTHING about actually contributing to the overall society of the world.
