Definitely - I came to music via the Turntables. I started last year using Samples & Loops in much the same way I mixed records. From there it was onto sequencing then subtractive synthesis.

I actually started producing before I started DJing, but I love doing both! I just felt that I needed to learn how to DJ to get my music out there when playing gigs, and I was always enamored by other DJs and how they mixed one song into another. I love collecting songs and playing them out to everyone who's open to listening. Like sharing my music collection with a few friends! Producing is a whole other beast, it takes time to really learn it, so I can understand why so many DJs reach out to those producers/writers. It's just not my thing since I have my own producing chops.

I've worked as a Ghost Writer. In 2 different fields, both Artistic & Academic. What hurt most was the lack of credit for DISCOVERIES (from the latter field) but if I'm not doing something totally groundbreaking creatively then I don't mind doing SOME ghost work. It's a silent Collab. In the Indie scene Co-production is more an option as I've found Ghost work in general is supported by large institutions or powerful interests like Labels. I'm more than happy to Co Produce when someone can add something I can't, whether they want to ghost or receive credit is up to my collaborator. Some folks don't want ANY attention.

Hey man. I've bought your course you have helped me a lot on my dj road. There is a new club standard if we call it that the pioneer V10 mixer. 4 band eqs etc. Would you be thinking on doing a video of that? To this day I don't see what adding the forth eq gives me.
@don_huzan
@don_huzan Жыл бұрын
Hey I’m not sure if you realized this now, but first time I used a V10 I was overwhelmed but now I appreciate it just for this; That Mid Low EQ above the low bass EQ is for that ‘poppy’ or knocky sound of the bass. Also that smooth sound of a bass guitar’s string vibrating (the actual timbre and tone of the string) will get captured in that mid low band that the V10 allows to cut out. Hope that helps.

Heyas! Real sorry to hear about your studio but i’m happy to hear your back up and running. During your career, have you had to do any DIY controller repair? A week or two ago one of my channel faders started bouncing in volume when in the max position. Pioneer said it’s not covered under warranty anymore and i have to have it repaired. I’ve repaired buttons on old CDJ’s but not the new controllers. Have you run into this problem before and have you been able to repair it yourself? Thank you

Currently co producing a track with my son, he has the education in music production and I have the ear of a DJ knowing what goes where and when. No way would I ever take credit for his track. He, as a producer is the one who has sculpted the track and I've just had input about structural changes and tweaks. It's his track and I'm learning from him. But production is 100% on my radar and can't wait to get my original material released. 🙏

Facts: Nowdays if u want to be a TOP Dj u have to release your "own" Tracks to build a Brand. A big Piece of the cake does not makes their own Tracks. Most of the DJS dont have the Time or Skill to make Tracks and everybodys knows about it but it doesent matter.

me and my friends who ghost produce understand we have to do it this way or else people will not respect the client nor will it allow the client to build a brand where people can rely on them for music and they would focus on us but I don't want them to focus on me for these tracks it's not my track I wouldn't have made the track that way because the client guides it it's their track it's their brand I don't understand what people don't get about this. There is art and then there is entertainment. As long as this topic is controversial it will still be beneficial to use and be a ghost producer. The only reason this exists is because people don't respect someone who generates and promotes music that they did the personally create. People trash talk top 40 folks for not writing their own lyrics etc. As I see it if you want to look at things just bluntly and unemotionally ghost producers to do this and want to do this for at least the time they have done it. And on the other side if someone pays to have a track created and then self-promotes advertises spreads or has that song signed to a label then in all intense and purposes it is theirs. There is no lie. The issue comes from when folks act like they wrote and crafted and mixed and mastered the track, i e they lie. But most studio producers will tell you it takes a community to raise a song. This has a lot more to do with the fact that the average consumer doesn't know about entertainment and the magic that is used to cast a spell so when they finally see behind the curtains they have their illusions and fantasies burst. I personally don't care much about celebrity so I don't care who wrote a song or if they used analog gear or recorded all of their samples personally or even bought the song. I care that the music is great and I follow artist brands because I know that I can find that brand of music. Genuine authentic fake but sold it doesn't matter does the music make me feel something? I personally have only ever thought about this topic about how little it actually matters it's just a case about caring about things that relate to the fantasies people create in their mind. The only time the integrity of someone creating something matters to me is if they are harming someone else directly

I would like to tip my toes into producing but I lack the skill, hardware, software, time and enegy. Couple of my friends produce and the other one does ghost stuff as well. Maybe collabing and learning from them would be a good start. But putting out 100% ghost tracks is kinda messed up..

tip: You dont need hardware and software demos exist. Try out the ableton demo, the FL Studio Demo. Make some simple loops at first and see if composing is fun for you. If so, there are free software options you can try (even ones that work within your browser, no installation needed). Skill comes with time. Time though... I can't help with that. But I encourage you to go and try it, it is so much fun

@@prettymigzu I started making music with a computer in 1995. Trust me, yours is fast enough to start producing, even with Ableton where you can freeze tracks as you go if you run out of system resources. There is plenty of free software out there too if money is an issue. If you really, really want to learn to produce, you just need to make a commitment and do it.

People get really upset or angry about it because it threatens the 'myth' but The Beatles had ghost writers. That's show business for you! Even Yesterday was a rip-off of an old local Italian piano piece. A producer I saw on KZbin said that now labels have software which analyses hit songs from the past to produce new suggestions for songs (structure, melody etc) which is then tweaked. He was very unpopular, not sure if he's still around. I'm pretty sure Coldplay have been doing this (recycling variations) on their older songs for some 'new' material. It's mostly fake folks!

let's be real tho - changing a daw file switching out a clap/snare doesn't make it yours... there is no subtitute/shortcut to years of hard work to produce professionial tracks. Most big festivals have pure producers on the lineups and not just "DJs". Not kicking DJs, producers and DJs need each other.. but yes having your own productions is a prerequiste if you are looking to play festivals etc... clubs/parties/some festivals however no need to produce.. just sweet dj skills is rnough

The craziest part of this is most people make music with loops nowadays- which is someone else playing the music. Now they don't even want to go through the trouble of arraigning the loops? What's next, ha ha. If you are an artist, you wouldn't do this. What artist would take credit for someone else's art? You become an artist because you want to create! Those people that buy things from ghost writers/ producers are not artists, they are business people. What does the guy in the store do? He buys a product and sells it to you for more than he paid to make a profit. That's the same thing these people are doing- buying a track from a ghost writer and selling it to a label for more. I think a better option is to collab with a new artist! Bring someone up, add something to the scene! Don't be such a profiteer, the scene really does not need any more of those...

saying you can make a whole track using loops might be correct but its far from what you would call an actual track. not the same thing
@kennethmalafy8012
@kennethmalafy8012 Жыл бұрын
@@asdman187 Most tracks or songs are made today basically using all loops. Even non EDM genre types. Some people might add a chord progression on a midi keyboard but its mostly loop and loop based. You can get very fancy with the arraignment, efx, chopping up samples, offsetting, gating, chaining and all sorts of other tools. At the basic level- you are playing with loops. I look at like you are the composer or conductor, more than the instrumentalist. You also have to remember- some of the biggest tracks, the tracks that become classics and stay with us- have very simple, melodies hooks and arrangements. Some of those songs can be put together in five minutes by a musician. That's not the point at all though. The whole point is how they make people feel- the response, That is literally what you are going for as a producer or dj (at least that is my goal). If someone ghostwrites your track and you play it- then it gets a big response, it is sort of a fake out. They aren't responding to your track, vibe and feeling- they are really responding to the ghostwriter and you know it.......

Its cheating, as is playing pre recorded sets and hitting sync. 3 reasons the electronic dance scenes a joke now, it's like the xfactor pop scene, If someone produces a track, it should be them getting the plaudits for it, not some processed, manufactured sync bunny. Should stick a djm 300 and two 1210s in and watch them all drown under their own sweat as they search for the play and sync button.
