I'm retired and my husband is still working and our car insurance kept going up and my husband called the company to why they said if you and your spouse take a driving test we will lower it. We both said no and changed insurance companies. Black folks pay more in everything, taxes, insurance and utilities etc. They know who you are by your ssn.

I was talking about this to my sister. I’m tired of paying increases premiums every time I renew my car ins. I have an excellent driving record & no claims, but yet I’m being told that “there was an overall increase for everyone.” This includes all the reasons you mentioned. I had no idea, I guess shame on me for also not knowing that they do a credit check too as if they’re giving me or anyone a line of credit. If race doesn’t matter, why do they ask your “so-called race?” It’s always the same excuse each time I renew. If anyone knows & wants to help me to try to file a class action lawsuit against the insurance companies they have & or had due to these unfair rate hikes, please let’s talk. I was with Allstate & now I’m currently with AAA ins. & they’re all the same.

Yes, car insurance is very expensive here in Michigan. I don't own a car; I catch public Transportation. When I did have a car, it was expensive, repairs, gas, and most of all the insurance. All praises to the Most High, I work from home, live in the Downtown area, the buses are easy to catch, and markets are within walking distance.

Areas with at least 70% Black residents: Premiums are 25.1% higher than the state average. Geico: Premiums are 63.3% higher in predominantly Black areas compared to predominantly white areas.

It's true. My GrandMother told Me in the 1980s _"The [man] knows where to put _*_his shit."_* After I realized what was going on while shopping for food in NYC in different sections. As to why We mostly shopped where the WHYteez shopped. Midtown-Lower Manhattan where predominately WHYte, _FRESH, CLEAN_ EVERYTHING. No STINK in Stores. Whatever didn't sell in WHYte NYC Stores in due time, got sent to Poor BIack areas of NYC not even marked down at least. Corporate Manufacturers of branded processed foods do the same things when they ship out foods to specific ZIP Codes where Stores are located in Poor Black areas.

Hey brother, thanks for covering this subject. I’ve had many conversations with many friends on this one even a friend of other persuasion that I’ve known for a long time, and we’ve had this discussion and he had to admit it because he saw it for himself. To the people that believe and make the assumption of it all being based on risk and data due to some areas having higher theft and car accidents than others, your too old to be that naive and in plain denial. Yes, that’s the way it should be in theory, but that’s not the way it is despite what we’re told. So this messages to you. I myself have paid much attention to this. I have owned many cars. I have sold lots of cars and insured many cars. I watched experiment of a research team collecting data about 6 to 7 years ago. And in this experiment test, the experiment was done and a metropolitan area. The inner city was predominantly black and plagued with red lining. The outer suburbs were not predominantly black, and there was a huge differentiation in the insurance, despite individual drivers records and backgrounds keep in mind. This was information and data being collected during this experiment. The other piece of important information that was exposed in the experiment and collection of data, the inner city actually experienced lower volume of accident, theft, and vandalization, compared to what had happened in the suburbs in this particular metropolitan area in this case. Nevertheless, the assurance, and those particular suburbs were significantly less so much for the idea of insurance being based risk of accidents and thefts when this group of researchers clearly insurance companies practicing otherwise. Hey brother, once again peace and blessings to you and thank you for bringing this subject to the forefront. They make decisions using demographics of where particular people are, I could go down a hell of a rabbit hole with this one

My Cousin moved from a white neighborhood. When she moved in one of My Apartments, her Insurance rates shot up by nearly 50% not long after she updated her address information in the Black neighborhood We live in. This area don't have high crime/accidents either.
