Realme is Oppo's answer to Redmi, in which it almost destroyed the Redmi series(I said almost because Realme 2 is the worst sequel to any phone ever), so, the company has to answer again, which is POCO, the direct equivalent of Oppo. And also, Poco literally copied what OnePlus' main factor, being available in almost every country. This makes Xiaomi's Mi series unrecognized, with it being only available at selected countries. If POCO will be available at the US, then OnePlus have finally a direct competition.

First there was a company called Bubugao, who mainly does educational devices, then the CEO of Bubugao decided to make phones under its brand, and then when smart phones is a thing they make a new brand called VIVO, and then maybe they want to make a brand that sounds younger and thus there's OPPO. that makes no sense. samsung too makes more from their display and memory business not to mention their shipbuilding and defence indistries and whay not. what he meant was huawei makes profits from phone. where as xiaomi wants to get people into the xiaomi ecosystem they are biggest iot company and they won't sell much so they get people by making the products accessible to everyone. they are like muji or uniqlo in that aspect.
@vladdx6 жыл бұрын
pink Fungi And he didn't mention Samsung because he apparently doesn't consider it a competitor to Pocophone unlike Huawei/Honor. Also Samsung's shipbuilding business and everything outside electronics are separate businesses on their own which are owned by different people, while Huawei's networking is a division part of the same company.
@FernandoAES6 жыл бұрын
The point is that Huawei has no/few means of earning profits AFTER the sale, while Xiomi has an entire business model just for that. Meaning that Huawei has to profit from the hardware sale, or make no profit at all. Sure they have other business, even more important ones, but if they were to sell phone at cost, it would just be as good as stopping selling phones altogether.
@vladdx6 жыл бұрын
Fernando Álvares Similarly to Xiaomi, Huawei also makes money after sale with smartwatches, laptops and VR headsets which sell more due to brand recognition gained from phones. Anyways who cares where the money come from, the idea is, Huawei could easily match any price of Xiaomi and put them out of business if they want to by simply having more money reserves. The reason Huawei is not doing that right now is the fact that they are still growing strong in Europe and has much higher brand recognition than Xiaomi just like Samsung.

What Charlles Pereira Costa said the exactly the reason a company needs more than one brand. He probably had a bad experience with one car and now will never ever buy the brand again. That happens a lot with brands that tries to reach two different customers segment: cheap one and quality aware one. And the cheap one, sometimes can change to quality one, if he/she has real bad experience with a product. But the brand is burned. And lets face it: you can't provide very good quality with low price. The cheap customers are ok with more or less experience and those will never be converted to quality one in the same brand, because he will hate the brand, and pay more to move to another brand. That is 101 marketing strategy.

It is. Conceived in 2011 and established in 2013. Just 5 years back. Unless you are a kid holding a popsicle, 5 years is relatively recent.

Born Cynic Gaming Comparing to Poco series,or realme,it is not new.And especially if we're looking at phone brands,most people were using freaking keyboard phones back in 2010-2011(at least in my country),so no,they aren't really new.

Isn't Huawei's main focus being communication devices rather than phones? They do have quite some phones, but I think they mainly make profit form making phone base stations, servers and network devices. So it's kinda like if Cisco makes phones to be honest.

i like to think that when an offline phone manufacturer launches an online specific brand, they treat it as an experiment, as they don't want to hurt their own (offline) reputation if something goes wrong, There's a company in the past called Gionee tried the online brand strategy with IUNI and it failed and went bankrupt in 2 years after releasing 3 phone. while the parent company Gionee still exist today,

So the reason is that:. people who aren't tech tech geeks (like us, which is mostly everyone) respond almost exclusively to brands rather than judging a product strictly from its merits. Therefore a brand is the most succinct way for companies to communicate to customers the complex idea of what differentiates products... Thanks Martin! Now I finally understand why GM had so many different car brands!

Supposedly, I was gonna buy a OnePlus 3T in replacement for my S4. Then, my mother gave me an S5 as a gift (the only android company she knows). Later, the LCD broke and had to replace it. And oh boy, does Xiaomi not disappoint; Samsung midrangers are mediocre with great prices, and here in the Philippines, people often find to look for phones in the 10,000-20,000 php segment ($200- $400). They have an offline store here. which is where I bought Mi A1, and other Xiaomi products such as mentioned in the video. Not surprisingly, they conveniently placed the store beside Oppo
