Good video. If a student in college did this, they would write a survey white paper for their resume.

AI is growing up nicely in Europe - with companies like Anthropic, Mistral, Hugging Face, etc etc. These are not specialized bit players but truly developing at a global scale. Is there something in the AI industry that makes it ripe for European adoption and scaling. Or maybe with AI, the European government decided they are not going to let this industry get away from them and are greatly investing - for instance UK, France, Germany and Italy?

Never in my life have I seen Philips as a top electronics brand for anything. You want good multimedia and entertainment? Buy Sony. You want good home appliances? Buy LG. Avoid Samsung and Philips at all costs.

My dream is to have an eink linux tablet that is connectable to keyboard, and I could run vim and all cool terminal apps on it (including elinks/lynx web browser for reading wikipedia and websites) and so I could also code on it. Hopefully PineNote is going to realize that dream.

One is almost the perfect display, but only for commercial tax write-off purposes. I've got crabs. OLED at LCD brightness is the next 5 years of consumer sales objectives. The problem is: there isnt as much profit in OLEDs. Be quiet, don't tell anyone it's a business. QD-OLED with MLA tecnology? Then get Sony to do the processing. He said what I have been saying. We are the crabs. There is no race......If you achieve the "perfect" display, the profit strwam ends. You don't innovate yourself out of business.

I have a specific use case: I run a single app on Windows that controls some industrial machinary. Obviously this is a small market, but Microsoft filled ithe need nicely with Windows LTSC IoT version. I recently looked at the previews for the next version, and THEY ADDED (UNREMOVABLE) COPILOT! I am now looking into switching to Linux.

The Germany based "Shift" company also has a "Fair" smartphone. Their newest model, releasing in August/September, the Shiftphone 8 will be modular, have removable back plate, you can repair anything with a screwdriver just like on Fairphone. Their Battery, while small (3850mH) is a multi purpose battery and are using it on multiple devices. The Phone will also be IP67 certified making it "on par" with most regular smart phones on terms of water and dust proofing. Maybe worth checking out.

But that just means more silicon is being used which means there may become a silicon shortage which means new computers are gonna be slower which means sort of stuff is possibly gonna go wrong and all other stuff good let’s just say that a very big chain reaction could start 12:24

Windows 7, continuously maintained and updated. From a PC user's perspective, that would've been optimum. Nobody asked for rest of the bloatware. Don't try to shoehorn mobile into my desktop and don't put significant crap in my system (like AI) unless I ask for it. Also, if you're not from a country that's "economically advantaged", forced obsolescence becomes an issue. Even if you've got ageing hardware, it might still be enough to run the usual desktop apps you've always used. But as these apps get updates and newer versions, you have no choice but to eventually upgrade to the latest windows version because some of them simply won't install on older version of Windows (eg. newer versions of Visual Studio itself). But guess what? Your hardware simply won't cut it for the newer, "heavier" versions of windows.

Microsoft doesnt make chips IE CPU's GPU's . major reason it seemingly can compete with Apple. some stuff is done in-house so to speak. but not all in house like apple. so naturally microsoft is at a major disadvantage development-wise.

I predicted this back around the year 2005. I could already see that Gates' vision was flawed and outdated. He thinks that everyone wants their pc to be a whole life console from a 60's sci fi novel...and they don't. All of that bloat got a bad reputation early on. Also getting a bad reputation was the progressive lack of control for the user with each new version, with automatic update shut off by the user being removed by version 8.1. ( horrifically bad idea for user popularity) Microsoft got too greedy and left nothing for the user. An operating system should be a blank slate that the user slowly tailors to themself by adding what they would use only (like from a Microsoft store) and not have a machine where 97% of the bloat and software is something they never asked for, and will never use, which of course just turns the comp into an inefficient potato. I could go on for weeks about why Microsoft is a bad corporation with bad ideas, but this is already too long lol.

I actually got where i liked windows XP, but when i was forced to go to Win 10 i started hating windows again. Below is brief background of my computer history: I used apple's up to 1999 when i built my first PC, over the years i went from WinME to WIN7 to WINXP to WIN10. I mostly game so Windows has been my main operating system since 2000. Slowly over time I switched all my Hardware to windows because the hardware is so much cheaper and the HARDWARE is a much better value than Apple. All that said MacOS and Linux are light years ahead of windows. I hate windows. I kept mac laptops which are slightly better value hardware than mac desktops for about 5 or 10 years. I used unix on mac and linux at work for development but mainly use windows at home which I hate. Windows is terrible operating system but has the market cornered. I wish game makers would start supporting Linux and i would switch. When they force us to go to Win 11, i may move to Linux and whatever software i can't run on Linux i will say bye to. Other than most games, photoshop and excel i don't think i miss other software. Blender supports linux. So for me i am happy when windows loses market share. It forces developers to support other platforms. i really am not attached to photoshop but it is the standard. I prefer Excel over google sheets but Excel hasn't had any significant update in 20 years i care about. I saw nothing in the improvements to Win 11 that compels me to want to support microsoft and hope it flops.

I love mine (Onyx BOOX Note Air 3c). I connect better to handwriting and despite trying many regular tablets and matching pens I was just never comfortable. It answers my most important needs. Planning, reading, and writing. My laptop is now used less. And my iPad is relegated to only luxury entertainment stuff.

i dont understand, at 21 sec you state windows 62%, Mac OS 20%, 3% chomebook and desktop linux at 3%. That adds up to 88% to 90% ... what is the other 10%... i could only guess pure unix systems but 10% seems high if Linux is only 3%.

I get the feeling this video is biased. It doesn't take a genius to realize that MS is killing millions of perfectly usable old computers just so everyone can buy their shiny new AI ARM powered PC. Only a small percentage of people and businesses are interested in investing millions of dollars on PCs that will up their workflow by 1%, not the majority of boomers that still run this earth, and that alone is probably what's going to kill them in late 2025 when they discontinue Win10. Computers are mainly used for serious businesses (and gaming), not as play things full of "toys" you'll get bored in a week. That's what Raspberry Pis and old Thinkpads are for.

And yet Windows 11 is somehow failing to beat... Windows 10. I mean, isn't it strange that W11 shares have been in decline since February? That's what happens when you do yet another UI redesign nobody asked for, drop a bunch of features people use and introduce a few people actively want to undo. Then start blocking applications that help with that undo part.
