Rachel Zegler, the actress cast to play Snow White has a LOT to say about the original character - unfortunately none of it was good. In this video I dive into why modern feminism hates Snow White, and who they wish she was.

Can you imagine seeing Snow White in 1937? It's the Depression, everyone is poor and miserable. But then you get to a movie theater, and Snow White shows you a colorful world that literally no one had ever seen before. The audience was able to escape their existence for a while and forget their hardships. They should try to make movies like that again.

Which is kinda funny cause most Disney princesses only have their dad around and love their dads. OG Ariel and Jasmine didn't agree with their fathers but still showed them love. Mulan's parents were still alive but she went to war cause she didn't want her dad to dìe in the battlefield. Bell still loved her father, Cinderella step mother was evil and her dad passed but feminists can't have an evil woman oh no. That would go against their lesbian ideology of "women are always pure and good and bosslady" It's amazing how all these remakes are being poisoned by man hating feminazìs

0:45 I honestly saw the movie not long ago, and her love story wasn't the main focus, but in all to be happy. She was happy to make friends with the dwarves and the animals. She did dream of being happy with the guy, but it didn't seem like the primary focus. And given how little time they had together, both of them were in love with more the idea of being together forever than themselves as a person. When the movie was made, it was the height of the great depression. So who wouldn't dream of happiness after watching that in those times.

I'd also like to point out that Snow White had boundaries. She worked hard to put the dwarves' house in order, and when they return from the mine, she insists they do their part to keep the house clean by going to wash up before dinner, or they won't be given their meal. Plus, when it comes to wanting love, Snow White was desperate for it because her only family hated her for reasons she didn't understand. I think that's why there was an emphasis on romantic love as it's not selfish. Familial love can be seen as obligatory, so the notion Prince Florian loves her even though she's dressed in rags makes her feel hopeful that she can be loved.

@jamiedee36 That is true, but feminists have always been sh*tty garbage people. The founders of feminism, Susan B Anthony and Cady Elizabeth Stanton were proud misandrists, especially towards negro men (though that wasn't unusual at the time.) The Suffragettes committed arson and vandalism that _hurt_ women's suffrage by nine years in America, as women were originally supposed to get the national right to vote in 1909, but their riots caused public opinion to change and women didn't get national suffrage until 1920. The Suffragettes were also responsible for the White Feather Movement, a shaming campaign to try to "cancel" young men who didn't enlist for World War I, while they did literally nothing to help the war otherwise. There's countless examples of feminism literally ruining society throughout the past 150+ years. But they expect you to just believe the made up lies that "feminism is just about gender equality." What wave of feminism out of the 4.5 waves focused on gender equality again? Oh, that's right; literally NONE of them.

Snow White is true beauty. She is long suffering, kind, gentle, and dutiful. Her physical beauty is immaterial compared to the goodness she represents. There's no bitterness or need to control in her depiction because that's not the kind of person we wanted to celebrate. Yes, women deserve to be given responsibility when they've earned it like everyone else, but there is a gentleness and warmth that only women have access to. I think the latter is a lot more valuable as it's a lot more rare.

One element of 'getting married' is also having children, which only women can do. Love is just the preamble to herald a stable relationship within which safety for the children is assured. I love Samantha because she is not interested in the children part. Without children, the woke women turn out to be just like Samantha - a power-hungry man. This points to not a gender problem, but a natural state of humanity: if we don't have a family to focus on, we focus on acquiring more power. Star Trek Voyager had two amazing villainesses: Seska and the Borg Queen. Neither were man-made or man-driven and both had complex characters. You hit the nail on the head about narcissism. We used to say 'frigid' when I was growing up but it means the same thing: hyper-defensive. The overt aggressiveness and superficiality that Rachel embodies is symptomatic of a socialised narcissism. I hope we as a society identify ways to reconnect. There are much more important things happing in our environment than masculinising women.

What a brilliant analysis! Feminists are dreaming if they take Samantha Jones as a role model. But it shows their desire is to have (hot, well-off) men lust after them, and they having the power to reject men. Speaking of passivity vs its opposite, agency, I've been wondering about agency's definition. Internet says: "character agency is defined as characters making decisions that affect the plot. Passive characters are put in situations outside of their control, by no fault of their own, and things happen to them. Active characters inspire reactions in other characters and their environment." Modern remakes think characters without agency are losers. That's why, when they make Jane Austen remakes, which are set in England 1800 to 1815 when, guess what, women (middle-class) were passive because they could not get jobs, and they had to basically hang around until a marriageable man showed up. It doesn't mean they are losers. That means that there were so many social constraints of the times that these women actually had to be very mentally resilient to cope with all the challenges they had to deal with. But modern Hollywood thinks "strong women" have to physically beat up men or else they are not "strong." Also, these women are not allowed to have any faults, and they are better than men at everything. Thank you for the video! 🙏🤔

These people think reality should conform to their most narcissistic fantasies. Prior to the industrial revolution there were limited economic roles women could play. The infrastructure we expect in modern society didn't exist. Even traveling between cities in early America was too dangerous for a woman to do alone. Same with slavery. It really wasn't possible to generate enough currency to run an economy on wage payment for most of human history. It's not a happy thing but it's just reality.

@@alejandromolinac I have never seen the show and the only actress’ name I’m aware of is Sarah Jessica Parker. I highly doubt anybody like Samantha Jones exists in real life. (Actually, on the show “Frasier”, he dated a woman also named Samantha, who was a very high profile attorney who had celebrity clients and was on TV quite often. When Frasier dates her, he’s delighted to finally be 1/2 of a “power couple“. They almost have a sort of role reversal, because she’s so busy, she’s always cutting dates short or entirely forgetting about them, then buying him an expensive watch to make up for it, etc. He becomes part of the group of wives of the senior partners of Sam’s law firm, because all the other partners are men. Frasier realizes that he is the traditional female role in this relationship, so he ends it.) But yes, the feminists seem to idolize Samantha because she’s everything they wish they were (according to this video): gorgeous, fit, able to attract good-looking, well-off men for casual encounters, then ditch them, thus breaking the men’s evil, shrivelled patriarchal hearts. It’s possible that some of the feminists have had negative experiences with college hook ups, who they were hoping would become boyfriends, but the guy never called back. This made them bitter, so their biggest fantasy is to get the man who is most desirable to other women, sleep with him, then when he wants a relationship, heartlessly reject him. But none of the feminists are capable of attracting men like that. Some of the feminists are actually quite “conventionally attractive,” but not many. And even the attractive ones, if a guy has a conversation with her for more than 20 minutes, it would be difficult for her to hide her personality and opinions. This also explains the revenge fantasies and probable self insert characters such as Phoebe Waller Bridge in Indiana Jones, Ms. Marvel, possibly She hulk, Rey “Skywalker”, Velma.

@@krdiaz8026 yes, exactly! Another example is Elinor in Sense and Sensibility, who is the only practical, down to earth adult in the family because her mom and her sister Marianne are very emotional, making them unable to cope with the tragedy that has befallen them. There is also a youngest sister who is only about 12 years old. Their father died, and the house was left to his son from his first marriage, and to his horrible wife. They already had a nice house in London, but they took over this house, thereby kicking 3 adult women and one child out of their only home the girls had had all their life while they’re grieving over their dearly beloved dad‘s death. On top of that, they’re going to have to survive on a small income, so they go from a house of 20 servants to a small cottage in a faraway county with two servants. They can no longer even afford to keep a horse. It is a major downgrade, and it also is going to make it so much more difficult for them to find eligible husbands. I know we like to think that in our lifetime, people are obsessed with money, but we are nowhere near as bad as that society. While Marianne is wallowing in her emotions (she got dumped by a guy she was certain was the love of her life. Long story, but he decided to marry for money) Elinor is being psychologically tortured by Lucy Steele, who is constantly gloating over how Edward is secretly engaged to her, and Elinor is not allowed to tell anybody. What I actually love about that book is how Marianne goes through a terrific character arc, and comes to a point where she realizes how mature and resilient Elinor was, and was forced to be because of Marianne’s selfishness of wanting to experience the depth of her misery to the full. If you don’t know the story, I really recommend the movie from I think 1995 with Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant not to mention Kate Winslet! Anne Elliot in Persuasion is another example of a very resilient woman who is even more passive than Elizabeth Bennett and Elinor because of circumstances beyond Anne’s control. The most accurate to the book adaptation is from 1971, and it’s on KZbin! Same with Fanny in Mansfield Park, who is the most passive of Jane Austen’s characters also for reasons out of her control. Anne and Fanny are also quiet and introverted, which actually means they had to have or had to find even more courage than a more naturally “strong personality“ like Lizzie. There is a fantastic video explaining why “strong female characters“ in contemporary productions made for “modern audiences“ are unrealistic and unlikable. One does not need to know the characters he’s talking about to understand the point of the video. He uses the comparison of Éowyn from Lord of the Rings and “Galadriel” from Rings of Power. Both are portrayed as warrior women, but the vast majority of people love Éowyn and can’t stand “Galadriel.” Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIC3nnushaiKibssi=HH5lS8xCxuD4--u- The channel name is “note the good.”

It's why family and marrying early is important (without the provision of easy divorce). Not only will it give you people that care about you, but also make you grow up and behave responsibly, since you have duties and responsibilities on your shoulders. Of course none of that is possible in modern west because marriage has been reduced to a joke. It's just some contract you sign that you can easily get out of if you get bored, and with more incentives for women to leave rather than stay in the marriage. The entire game is rigged against not just men but even women in the long run, but most modern women don't seem to get it.

I told him, "your brother is married and has 2.5 kids now, you are not his 1st priority anymore. If you go to jail god forbid, bail money is your problem." But it's another reason to keep good friends around and stay close to cousins and sibling that care. They may not help you to the end of the earth but... take their help when they can. @@NostalgiaforInfinityMarrying young and making divorce illegal (AGAIN) bc it was illegal until the early 60's or extremely hard to get a separation, will not help at all! The age bracket with the highest rates of divorce according to the census bureau it's the age bracket below 20, with 56% divorcing in the first five years, and the age bracket of 20-24 with 42%, people who marry at the ages of 30-35 have a divorce rate of only 10%, our grandparents rushed bc they would die at 50, we are now living until 80, even to a 100 if you are healthy ... As well, psychologically you sent have your personality formed until about your 22-25 according to psychology, so if you and your partner can still become completely different people (literally) marrying at 20 it's a recipe to fail or to keep a miserable life. If you coming for "people want to have children" 52% of women at the ages 35- 39 can conceive children naturally within a year of trying, only 15% of them will be infertile and the rest have about 80% chances of getting pregnant through the first cycle of in vitro , which costs like 2k , so it's not a lot , so you can definitely wait to marry a more reasonable age at the end of your 20's or early 30's. Also, do ask elderly people in homes their stories about when divorce was illegal and heavily frowned upon, you will know about a lot of abusive marriages with husbands that constantly beat on their wives, about a lot of infidelity, about a lot of women who would leave as soon as their kids turned 18 and move far away or straight up never be seen again, about a lot of men who abandoned their families and never came back, bc he wanted to live with another women , was gay or straight up was tired of the responsibility, stories about sexless and miserable marriages, about people who stayed married on paper but went to live on separate houses and even different states, see how the divorce rates of the 60's were the highest between middle age couples and double of what it was in the 70's and 80's, bc there was a lot people who were solely "married" bc divorce was illegal... It's a way bigger setback to have divorce to be illegal or extremely hard than it is to be extremely easy , it's better an easy divorce with a prenuptial if you are afraid of your finances, people don't need to be miserable like our grandparents were ... BTW statically middle age couples had the highest rates of divorce from the 1960 - 1980's , so yeah, that's what "illegal / impossible divorce caused" People were already leaving marriages before in the early 20th century, it was just very hidden and if you compare the amount of people of middle age that divorced in the 1960's , you will see that not even less than us... If you want to solve the divorce rates simple, marry at reasonable age preferably after 25, I personally would say between 27- 31 it's the best, be in a relationship with someone for over 2 years, statically most people that divorced dated for less than 2 years before getting married and long therm relationships had smaller divorce rates, my parents are a huge example of messy marriage, 03 f months together only before marriage, only in fairy tales work to marry someone you just met, it's the exception not the rule, and have a prenuptial with a specific clause for infidelity , hence its the number cause of divorce , its better and that easy.

I feel the thr same aswell. Locked or chained by left and right and the ideas that have alienated us. People, human beings. I do miss the early 2010s when our generation aren't posion for power but cared about anther person.

This movie is a great representation of new Hollywood’s misunderstanding of tropes and how they define genre. It’s like watching Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time and thinking that the kids don’t need no man killing them in their dreams, so you write up a reimagining called “Vivid Dreams on Elm Street” in which the kids dream about their girlboss futures. You’ve taken the horror out of the horror genre.

I have not seen the original cartoon, but you hit the nail on the head BC when you said that Snow White was actively making her small space beautiful (at the dwarves home) rather than passively expecting 'free accommodation'. She respected their home/ work and they respected/ loved her for that. Brilliant analysis - thank you!

In my opinion, Hollywood always had major problems portraying a "real" woman who has a complex depth. Like god forbid the duality that women can have. Just like you said perfectly at the end, Snow White is so gentle and her kindness makes her strong, not some woke arrogant spouting on "I'm a girl boss/ I'm a leader". It's either you're a cold-hearted b*tch that is portrayed as strong because she acts like an absolute douchebag who needs no one or you're a weak NPC because you're kind. This stuff really breaks my heart because you see it everywhere. People get more and more lost in this "wokeness" and lose the real core of what equality for women actually means. Nowadays women are being "lifted" up with arrogant b*tching and men are being put down as their "stupid" side character. It's like the roles have been reversed because it has always been a strong male lead and an airhead woman on his side. This is not the way... And the aspect, that real genuine love can't be portrayed nowadays in a healthy manner is totally what is lacking in modern (Disney) movies. And if you're nagging at it, everyone is at your throat because they think you're not a supporter of LGBTQ+. But in my opinion, nowadays everything feels forced and just too much to the point where it doesn't make sense anymore.

Ironically, the girlboss message is the exact same message coming from the hustle/incel crowd: don't worry about human relationships or romantic love. Just work. Hustle up that ladder. Grind for that position of power. The opposite sex is a distraction and a danger. Is it any wonder that corporate America enthusiastically supports this message?

It just sounds so hollow and utterly soul crushing to "dream of being the leader she can be" and not true love. It sounds like something the villain in a distopian movie would say.

I remember reading articles about how Tolkien and C.S Lewis both shared a loathing for Walt Disney's Snow White over the portrayal of the dwarves as being too cartoony, whimsical and what Tolkien called "their Jazz" which I think was his way of calling it "modernized loud obnoxious entertainment" I believe today the two authors would be standing with Walt in his defense against this crazy lunacy and I'd hate to imagine the creative colorful words Tolkien would use to describe this modern version of Snow White, not just the [cough]"dwarves"[cough hack cough] but concerning the character of Snow White herself.

Snow White, Cinderella and many other characters like them are flat arch characters, which don't change themselves drastically, but do influence others and or go through a tough challenge. Many people don't understand how to write such characters or even how to understand flat arch characters (such as in the case of Snow White). Thank you for the analysis! You explained extremely well something I couldn't.

I always understood the beauty of Disney princesses to be about the amount of love they carried in their heart and how they radiated that. That's what I learned from Belle, Pocahontas, Snow White, Esmeralda, Mulan and Cinderella as a child.

God, the way she talks about the animated film makes it seem like the Grimm version of Sleeping Beauty. The original animation was about a kind young woman who, despite not being loved, gave an overflowing amount of unconditional love and kindness to everyone. While Snow White isn’t my favorite Disney princess (that title goes to Mulan), she has a special place in my heart for looking just like my late grandmother as a young woman and being just like her throughout her life. She was truly a wonderful person who cared for others and was always smiling. She even loved to sing whenever she had the opportunity to! My grandmother was a strong woman not because she rejected femininity or vulnerability, but because she was a kind person who never let the world knock her spirits down, just like Snow White. The idea that the only way a woman can truly be a wonderful person is by being better than everyone around her is terrible. The way Rachael talks about Snow White is absolutely disgusting. Even if it was made during a time where gender wasn’t as equal as today, it was a wonderful movie that showed kindness over cruelty. Hell, condemning a movie based on the era it was made in is completely stupid in general, especially for the example Rachael always uses. Why? Because seven years later in 1944, a movie called ‘Double Indemnity’ came out, which was about a femme fatale seducing a clueless guy to help kill her husband. That doesn’t sound like a movie centered around “toxic masculinity” to me, yeah?

Fabulous video! You didn't touch on it, but the omission of the "true love's kiss" is also telling. It's one of the most ROMANTIC tropes in stories/fairytales. It speaks of destiny/fate of a woman & man who are "made for each other". That love conquers all. Same with the notion/trope of "love at first sight", which is heavily used & sometimes in conjunction with true loves kiss. Snow White & Sleeping Beauty's stories pretty much mirror each other in a lot of ways & I think the feminist argument against both of them is the "they both needed a MAN to 'save them' 🙄🤮!"... But these men aren't just ANY man, they're both their "true loves", their "soul mates". I'm personally not a romantic person either, but these are supposed to be FAIRYTALES. It's supposed to be idealistic, whimsical/fantastical. Removing it for the sake of "reality" is just boring.

It makes _perfect_ sense that Rachel Zegler is Hollywood’s current “It Girl”. She’s been an adult for all of 4 years and appears to have life figured out. She’s “ethically diverse” (i.e. not-white) and has the figure of a 12 yo boy. I can’t wait to see how many great films she appears in? She’s *already* starred in a Spielberg film, a superhero film and a reboot to an old franchise. She’s _ahead_ off the curve, even by Hollywood standards.

I'm gonna say hands down the way you share your perspectives from 9:42 and onward are incredible. Very compelling and I even got a knot in my throat watching because those are exactly the qualities any good person has, wanting to do their part in anyway they can. That's how you make the most of life and that indeed is the core of Snow White. New Disney doesn't even understand what they have anymore.

The problem isn't that women are portrayed as graceful, demure, gentle, modest or cooperative, ect. ect. The problem is that these depictions are heavily associated with women and expected of women as a class. Girls deserve to see strong and independent women on screen just as their male counterparts get to see strong and independent male heros and leaders. Girls do not need to be fed messages like women are meant to be pretty and pursue romance. We don't teach little boys that their worth is found in marriage or having children, we teach them to be athletes, adventurers, astronauts, doctors. Why shouldn't we do the same for little girls? The sexism is so well ingrained in our cultures that we don't think to question its existence or how it might effect us.

Have you considered checking out the movie Annihilation? It’s almost an entirely female cast where the main character battles through metaphorical (and very real) monsters to save her husband and expunge her own guilt. It’s a psychological horror, but one of the best female led films I have seen in a long time. Despite how disturbing it can be LOL.

That "leader thing" really gets me. And I think I found the explanation. The feminist types and young women have absolutely no idea what it means to be a leader. They see a romanticized idea of what it means to be a leader in the real world not what it actually is. Much like we think how fun it would be to be a pirate when we see Jack Sparrow. But being a leader is over all a role of pure responsibility and selflessness. You don't do anything for yourself anymore. You are constantly thinking about the good of others and how to keep things together. The ones seeking the leader role to gain power are the worst leaders and the best leaders are those that grow into the role, never really want to do it but see that it has to be done. And then when things go wrong (and they will) you are the one who takes the blame and go down with the sinking ship. That's what it means to be a true leader. I'm pretty very sure what these feminist types seek is more like being a bossy bitch that can command people around, is super rich, does nothing all day and nothing has consequences for her.

This was a fantastic video! Great work! At 9:45, your breakdown of what made Snow White was her spirit and willingness to do her part in her own feminine way. That's her true power. Not the power the Queen is seeking by force and fear, but with hardwork and kindness.
