I think this was a great explanation for those who aren't already familiar with gas transport and gas partial pressures, great video!

The real reason is that they contain shark milk as an offering so that the megaladon will drink it and spare the ship

a sphere is the best shape to handle pressure
@giantdwarfulf9 сағат бұрын
99 percent of gas tankers with spherical (type b) tanks are LNG carriers. Fully refrigerated LPG tankers (those able to carry cargo as cold as ethylene) usually have type C (usually cylindrical) or type A (prismatic) tanks. Type C is the most pressure resistant. The normal fully pressurised gas tanker is fitted with type C tanks withstanding a pressure of up to 18 bar. Type A and B both have very low design pressures of 0.7 bar at most.

Would not an equal volume of a more carbonaceous hydrocarbon be more energy dense than an equal volume of LNG?

Wait so how do LNG cars work? I can't imagine they keep the tank ad -82C
@jamesengland746110 сағат бұрын
They're usually CNG cars, with a pressure tank.
@DTXBrian9 сағат бұрын
Smaller vehicles are far more likely to be CNG than LNG. LNG is mostly trucks. As fuel is burned from the tanks, the act of withdrawing fuel from the tanks cools the fuel left in the tanks. Combine that with crazy amounts of insulation, and there’s no need for active cooling for trucks in operation.

Wouldn't methane be more likely to be transported as ammonia?
@clazy810 сағат бұрын
You probably mean hydrogen instead of methane.
@jamesengland746110 сағат бұрын
Methane is CH⁴. Ammonia is NH³.
