Why Do Geese Make So Much Noise?

Where there are Canada geese, there is noise! But why are they so noisy? What is all the honking about? In this video I discuss five basic reasons for their verbal communication.

There are many different subspecies of Canada geese. A fun thing to do when observing them is to notice differences in body size, neck thickness and length, and subtle differences in the shape and width of the white chinstrap. It's quite fascinating how many variations you will find!

Great information. This time of the year we have both Canada Geese and Cackling Geese. It can be difficult to tell them apart but as the name implies, Cackling Geese cackle instead of honking. They are also much smaller.

Very beautifull ❤❤❤ !. We don't have them flying over our country 😢. Except rare occasions of one 2 or 3 who, when "lost", land on our lake shores and stay a few days 😮. What a lovely video for us to watch these geese. Thank you.

Birds should know better not to annoy humans with their noise. I've yet to see a quiet bird. There are ducks outside (I think they are ducks). They sit among water grass and bushes and croak all night without stopping. There can't be enough worms or snails or whatever they eat to power the sound machine. Could they be young chicks?
