I think you are too hard on yourself. Sometimes I make something that I'm not too fond of and walk away. When I come back later, it doesn't seem so bad, or I have a fresh approach to making it more to my liking. It's just paper, so I can allow myself to experiment without stress (most times!). 😊 With watercolor, I find that I get better results when I don't try to be precise. The looser I paint, the better it comes out. Go figure! 🙄 You have produced some BEAUTIFUL results with the cards you made today! And it's always a great bonus to have alternative ways of coloring. Thanks so much! Janet 💕

All of your cards turned out so pretty! I do relate as far as being intimidated by all of the "real" artists out there. ha ha 😂 I think we are more critical of our own stuff than the recipients for sure! People that get our cards are just happy to get real mail versus bills, and I know they don't criticize our work. It's all in MY head. I have some sets from Altenew that are just stunning, but usually what I end up doing is just getting the paper wet, dropping in one color and then adding another color so it will blend. ha Letting all of the water do the work. Nice video Ann, hang in there sister.

Dearest Ann - Love always seeing your new inspirations and creations - you are such a true artist!! Due to the damaging after-affects of being diagnosed with Stage IV Lyme Disease 24 years ago, (diagnosed in 1998) and the advancing stages of a recent diagnosis of Parkinson's DIsease, for the past 15 years, I have been having such a difficult and rather frustrating time of 'coloring in' for florals and just about everything else due to my hands shaking and having jerky spasms 24/7!!! It's hard for others to imagine how embarrassed I feel about this, especially because throughout my younger, and healthier years, I was often 'commissioned' to draw, sketch or paint just about anything that friends, family and new customers requested me to complete or design/create for them!! (It was also a very handy source of additional income, even though I had a full-time career as a Professional Broadcasting Engineer - which I had to stop when Lyme DIsease permanently disabled me!!) Anyway, I love hearing how you adore 'fussy-cutting' stamped images or ephemera items out and wish that I could also do those things like I did before all of my medical woes took those abilities away from me! You mentioned in this video that you don't like to color images, but the few things that I have seen you color, you've done an absolutely brilliant job at it!! (It's odd how some of us 'wish' we could do certain things, and others do not care to do certain things!! I guess it just might be human nature for the majority of us to want to do things that we just don't think we're good at all at doing, huh??!!) Continued blessings, and I know you must be so very, very excited about the day when you will be finally moving and getting ALL of your papercrafting supplies in one area!!! Congratulations to you and I pray it will happen for you very, very soon!!! Much love, Ann!!! You are such a very cool gal!!!

Gorgeous cards, and three great techniques for coloring. Weather it is flowers or other stamped images. I am like you and many others about coloring, but while I was watching I wondered why? Why am I so difficult about coloring while there are so many other techniques available to get gorgeous results? We don’t all have to be perfect painters/artists to enjoy coloring, what ever medium you are using. I was in awe of your first technique, just splattering watercolor on wet watercolor paper, in just three colors. That is brilliant! I wonder how many skilled colorists can achieve that effect with alcohol markers or coloring pencils…!!! So forget about your coloring issues, and I will do the same, and enjoy other techniques to create gorgeous cards. Thank you for this fantastic tutorial, very helpful 👍

Anna, try watercolor pencils. You can color and take your time getting the lights and darks in the right place. Then go back and use your water brush. You end up with a light watercolor, which you can go back and add color the same way. It looks better (in my opinion) than markers, at least until you get good at it! Pastels are easy and fast, just need a fixative.

I too was having some difficulty dealing with the “how do I color THIS one??”, and then one day I HAD to pull together a card in short order, so I turned to my paper (“dsp”s?) and started laying various stamps out on watercolor-looking papers, and … VIOLA!! I managed to find a couple of papers that sufficed for the purpose. Since then I’ve studied what those papers did for my stamps, and, between that and some tutorials I’ve found on Y.T., I can u s u a l l y accomplish what I need to. Good luck with your endeavors. Hi Ann, I think so many of us will love this video as I think we all fall pray to the comparison issue and then thinking our efforts are not good enough. I love colouring and it’s my relaxation and while I am trying to master blending and colour theory etc. I also give my self permission to do what I call flat colour things and just enjoy colouring the image for colourings sake not creativities sake and this has helped and now no image is scary. I think your point about we can’t all be artist is a key as we all do this for different reasons - some because they love paper engendering, others as the like colouring, others because the like embossing , die cutting etc ....... we are all being creative and that’s the bit to hold on to just do you and create it your way . For me it’s the process more than the end result and it’s thanks to people like yourself who share ideas and help keep the ideas flowing and offer the reassurance and tips to keep that flow - I love the ideas you have and share here but it’s the message that is so needed , so a huge thank-you xx
