I saw an article yesterday that there was a call to end the Brownie name because it was offensive. Obviously no one has read the history. I understand stuff, but wish folks would do some research before they fly off the handle. Sad.

Sasha Brastoff was a female impersonator in the 1940s and 1950s. His specialty was dressed as Carmen Miranda. When he retired from that he designed ceramics. And very popular. I love your videos.

My friend told me her father had a flower shop and they had head vases all over. She said they never gave them a thought. She finds it funny that people are asking so much for them. It's soft boiled egg you are thinking of. My mom made them for breakfast and we would eat them in a whiskey glass.
@maryr78002 жыл бұрын
Yes, and a poached egg is cooked in water; my Dad used to cook and eat poached eggs for breakfast. I remember when head vases were everywhere, didn't think much of them then, but now I would love to have one or two.

This is the first year I have had my vintage bubble lights removed from Ebay because you know some kid might break the glass and drink it. I swear it has gotten ridiculous... more than likely it would be an adult. It's a miracle I survived the 60's surrounded by bubble lights. 😁

I think the elaborate vase with the gilt foliage details and hand painted flowers is 'Old Paris Porcelain' manufactured in France between the 1840s and 1870s. The designs were inspired by 18th century French and German ceramics in the Rococo style. It's rarely marked with a maker though you may find incised numbers or other marks on the base.

Sascha Brastoff is highly collectible mcm pottery, and some of his pieces are crazy expensive! The 1820s chest of drawers is ADORABLE. Love that! It’s likely a tabletop or even mantle top cabinet. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the antique medical bottles! I started collecting antique medical ephemera and some medical supplies. I have an antique travelling doctor’s kit with some of the pills inside and it’s one of my FAVE pieces. $9 for that wedding basket bowl is amazing. I know you’ve already sold all these pieces but the opalescent piece is Northwood ☺️ The blue satin bunny with the blue birds of happiness is Oneida Japan.

When I was a young child I ate the poached eggs - not a chance now. 🤢 That decanter in the case was stunning. I have that little snowman blow mold, more contemporary but really compliments the true vintage. You had me cheering when you got the glass millefiori teapot, the blue Fenton basket and the Northwood piece.

I have that chalkware santa at my studio (11:19). It was made by Helen Crawford for Duquesne Statuary out of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Mine has a little bit of damage, but those go for about half of what is marked at that store...in good condition. That's the second item I saw in this video that I know is marked for WAY over what the highest comps I found have been.

I like brown and pink together or separate. I had a pink cap that I wore in my 20's, and meatheads felt comfortable coming up to me and asking about it. I would tell them that I'm not insecure about my manhood, and walk away.
@jomcgee60942 жыл бұрын
That would be called a soft boiled egg inside an egg cup. You lop off the top of the egg and with that you have strips of toast for dunking in the egg cup...called toast soldiers, very British. Poached eggs are cracked into boiling water and cook them to your preferred consistency.
