@@vatsalasaxena4725 well it is very much linked with the color coded system of division of labour. Lower castes did manual labour that means more hours under the sun and melanin soaking all that vitamin D giving u a brown skin tone. Upper castes and Brahmins stayed indoors and fed flowers to stone god's barring them from hard labour. Colourism is prevalent even in other Asian countries where there was stratifications of labour according to the clan or family you were born in. Philipines, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand barred girls or women to work outside if they belonged to a rich family and at that time you were either a rice farmer or royalty to not work. So, these people got lighter skin. Even in the US House slaves had a light Brown skin shade as they work d indoors. Sometimes their white rulers raped em and their offsprings had a mixed light brownish skin tone thag people hated upon. However due to Eurocentric beauty standards it is very accepted and "beautiful" now to have a light wheatish skin colour. Colorism is very intricately linked to social structures of caste and race that we still operate upon.

I just convey my point of view being really truthful about it, thinking about it in its finest sense. I always go to the core of every mechanism. I just want things to be represented in a purely authentic and genuine sense. These people might not have observed this, I am pointing out so more people would talk about this to this channel and others, so these channels will ACTUALLY reflect those same values and bring change.

@Impersonal Immigrant for a while I got confused... I see you're referencing my original comment in a different video. Yeah, she was sounding POWERFUL but her opinions and views were so pathetic. @chaitanyagupta66683 жыл бұрын
If that is to happen, we are giving way to equality of outcome. That's stupid. Maybe just maybe, the skilled people they needed in their team happened to be fair or not dark.
@meettheartist55063 жыл бұрын
@@chaitanyagupta6668 that's a possibility. Don't worry. I thought of that exactly right after the moment I posted this comment. Hiring people on basis of colour might not be this channel's or any other channel's criteria, but why we aren't seeing such people is my concern. Also, when characters in movies or shows are of dark complexion, fair complexion people are hired who are already a part of entertainment industry. Examples - Bhumi Pednekar's character in movie "Bala", and Samantha Akkineni's character in web series "The Family Man Season 2". I do believe that going through an actual process of reviewing dark complexion people on the basis of their skills must be done for such projects. The demand for character is being fulfilled "visually" for creators, but the people (or artists) will be hired for their talents and skills. In that similar way, a deliberate attempt can be done by these people and other channels, i.e., posting for requirements of people with dark complexion representing their whole channel (and not just racial topics). If creators of this channel, movies, and shows acknowledge this as a normal thing and send out notice/post mentioning different characters' requirements, it will be a good thing. Suppose if I'm a filmmaker and I'm making a movie. My characters list says there's a fair complexion girl for the role of supporting character, but there's also a dark complexion girl's character for (let's say) the same fair complexion girl's sister or friend. There you have it! Making a deliberate attempt while creating a new mindset among people conveying that "yes, girl with dark complexion is a part of our movie's story and she has a significant contribution in leading the movie's story." There has been number and number of auditions for different projects but you'll hardly see any dark complexion girl (boys are still somewhat accepted being dark) in that project's audition. This should be reformed now. This will bring a new change which has practical outcomes in our real world. What you're seeing here on this channel and other channels is "equality of outcome" in its very own way. When these people talk about it, being a true icon for what they're saying, don't you think it's positively impacting you, and especially those who believe in what is being conveyed? Or a better example is when you see an inspiring celebrity or a personality who is true idol for you who is supporting equality. I'm taking a random example of "Sushmita Sen"... She has put efforts into her, her life and hence you're able to feel inspired for the change and growth. I will agree that neither Sushmita Sen nor any other such celebrities are putting efforts just to see change, in a realistic way, but think about the "outcome" of their "action/efforts". How are you supposed to change the mindset of millions of individuals, including those who are a victim of it (here, dark complexion people) without actually letting everyone of these people (people mocking and people being mocked) know that what reality they think doesn't exist, do exist, and we (this channel or whoever's doing this deliberate attempt) are the representatives of this reality. Long comment but I hope I made sense.

I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for saying this, when I turned 19 I finally decided to get my skin bleached because when I was young I used to get a lot of comments from relatives saying that “how are you the only one that’s dark” it used to hurt me soo much but what made it worse was when my cousin’s friend saw me with my dad (who is fair) and said “omg is that his child she’s soo darker skinned is she really his” . I never felt soo insecure I was like 10 when I heard this, after that I felt soo insecure to go out with my dad anywhere I used to walk far ahead of him or behind to make it look like we were not related, the taunts got worse in my teenage. I know everyone says love your skin it’s beautiful and all but I couldn’t even if I tried to, I knew there was a solution so I used it because instead of living a lie that I’m happy with my skin tone it was better to change it atleast the humiliation would stop.

If you've watched animated versions of Ramayana or Mahabharata, or even read animated book versions of those, you'll always see that the rakshasas(demons/menaces/evils) are always portrayed to have darker skin and the gods, fair skinned. It starts early. Even in cartoon series like chota bheem... You're teaching that to kids who later become adults and have broken images of themselves. And little kids who are fair skinned are the ones who end up associating colours with kids they meet in schools. Apart from that, if you've observed a hindu god Lord Krishna was supposed to be dark, but no, he is portrayed to have BLUE skin. Even Lord Shiva is portrayed BLUE. Cause god forbid you have dark skin, what a sin... because you can be anything except dark skinned. We'll have alien looking Blue skin!!! It's much better than dark skin.. fuck all society.

Thankfully lots of tamils girls who are brown and considered dusky dont live in india finally got away thank heavens as we dont gotta face this level of discrimination if we live away from people with this mentality that if you fair skinned, got a sharp nose and got pink glow pink lips you automatically get everything. In the west they like dark skin as long as its an even skintone. Everyone is aiming for even skintone. light skin people trying to lessen wrinkles and darker people trying lessen dark circles/pigmentation. And if your face is somewhat symmetical you will be ok. Here they put more emphasis on an even skintone, being a healthy weight, going for laser hair removal, growing long hair, ensuring the skin is healthy and body is also healthy. That you got hair removal less body hair through laser. Skin color does not have anything do with class lots of people here are very dark they have got plenty of money they are very successful. Being non-white is challenging sometimes. you got to work hard (cant be lazy some goras can be) but honestly there are laws etc heres so even if there is favouritism perks trinkets (yes they give non-whites who look more white/white people some what more) it is not that bad. No one cares this much sooo much about skin color. I wish more of my dusky girls move to the west and get the chance to get aways. Once you here and go for therapy you will heal lot Colorism is social engineering and conditioning. Its conditioning and conquered way of thinking. There seems be lack of education on skin color. All skintones are attractive. White light skin less prone to pigmentation dark circles but ages faster. Dark skin prone pigmentation and dark circles but ages slower. I understand this mindset isnt going go away in india as status driven though therapy (through councellor/therapist/psychologist), healing and education is the way wishing more scientists dermatologists in india talking about this. So many people around me are dark black dark brown got even skintone shines like velvet nothing wrong. Guy im seeing now is dark brown middle east guy nothings wrong with dark skin.

However, it's important to remember that every skin tone is beautiful and should be celebrated. Embracing and loving your natural skin color is an important step towards building self-confidence and promoting diversity. It's crucial to recognize that beauty comes in all shades, and it's important to value and appreciate the uniqueness of every individual. This is all social conditioning right from childhood. When I was younger, I used to think wearing glasses, having smaller eyes was attractive, because the people I most liked had those. But later it was told to me that that’s not the case. If I was left to choose what I find attractive without this hand-holding and conditioning, I believe I would have had a very different perspective on beauty throughout. And wouldn’t have had to learn and then unlearn the societal standard of beauty.

I totally agree with you. Having an access to internet my whole childhood and consuming more international media than bollywood, I naturally gained a likeness for multiple different types of features and skin tones. I feel like opinions are subject to change over time depending on you environment and culture and beauty standards are not static in the slightest, they change over time. Just like the colors of a rainbow, human skin shades are also pretty just each in their own way.

hey swaddle team, please make a video on grey hair stigma also. because now a days grey hair are not just related to old age. there are youngsters who are going through a lot of inferiority complex because of hair color. they are termed as 'old', 'ugly', 'unacceptable' and what not!

The Indian people don't like their own dark members. How can they ever come out of their Dark Age?! Dark girls ❤❤❤❤ are really beautiful and intelligent.
@prasad90028 ай бұрын
I was like that because from birth that's all I know. I was told I was useless because of my skin colour. Even from neighbours. But when I grew up. I learned to love it and told off people around me.

Hey Indian brothers and sisters! I'm from spain and I'm as pale as one can be 👻🤣 jajajaj so you can consider me a professional in being fair skinned muahahaha 😜 and I must say it's not better to be fair than dark as it happens the inverse way. All the skin colours are beautiful! Is in diversity and singularity where we find our richness as species. Love each other and don't lose time in losing opportunities to relate with people bc of prejudices.

@@maalavikah so do other countries . if you find any of these in other counties you can find it in inida to. this vedio is stereotyping indians. AND INDIA DO HAVE DARK SKINNED ACTORS AND THERE ARE MANY AND LOVED BY ALL. bipasha basu, priyanka hopra, rani mukherji, kajol, deepika padukon, bhumi pedneker and many many are there all of them has BROWN or DARK BROWN as a natural color (withoutmakup and editing). people love it and a clear misconception about india that indians are carzily mad over fair skinned and if it is still then count whole world as well

@@maalavikah stereotyping means calling some thing above a limit without considering others. and if india has obsession the whole world have it too as simple as that . And i already named big celebs. You can point out and improve it but considering whole world as well don't just right india in thumbnail write world's obbsesion with fair skin. Where USA have 200% more obbsesion and racism then India. I am too a dark skin girl and i never felt guilty for it in India maybe if i am in different country i feel it because of the amount of bullying and i know people who go to other countries and face bullying because of dark skin where in india being brown natural no one bully you for it. Because 70% of people in India are brown.

@@maalavikah no they don't according to my and my friends experience. Otherwise their is always 1 or 2 person who can bully but not all. I am a fair girl and never have i ever thought of me being prettier than my dark skinned friends. I think your features decide that you are beautiful or not. Like I'm fair skinned but i don't have any good features whereas my dusky friends have big eyes, fluffy eyelashes, thin nose, perfect lips, voluminous hair and perfect figure, and they all look so pretty! But yes due to this notion "fair=pretty" they often feel less pretty than me
