Why do investors pay higher fees on sustainable investments?
Our research highlights that low financial literacy is a significant factor that leads investors to pay higher fees. This implies that investors may not fully comprehend the potential impact of these fees on their financial returns. It also suggests that investors may not be making an informed decision to invest in sustainable options.
To better understand this phenomenon, we conducted large-scale lab-in-the-field experiments in five European countries - the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Spain, and France. Our study involved at least 1000 investors from each of these countries.
