It seems that it was recorded before February in 2022, the whole presentation seems to have been questioned or vindicated by the whole madness and escalation of that war. As far as the Nuclear deterrent goes, there are now nuclear weapons of limited capacity or tactical weapons that are able to be deployed with limited fallout even.

He throws up a chart around the 2-3 min mark showing the history of conflict and 2020 is the most recent bar, with the line noting conflicts stopping just shy of it. My guess is this was done around 2018 or so.

13:30, This is a common mistake: You assume that Putin will act rationally, as in some examples of game theory. And, while "past performance is not a guarantee of future performance", it certainly can be a good indicator.
@bobmorane4926
@bobmorane4926 2 жыл бұрын
Putin did act rationally in looking after Russia's interests. But did the West act rationally by ignoring all the red signals about the unintended consequences of their sanctions ? I guess not. All of them were ignored and they're still waiting for Russia's fall while their world crumbles around them. Inflation, housing market, stock market, food shortage etc...

5:56, I think that eliminating the data which indicate that well established democracies don't fight each other is equivalent to "throwing out the baby with the bath water". Perhaps isolating and simplifying the first principles from these relationships, past and current, might provide the ammunition needed to convince some that peace is the best option.

How are you, yankee friend? I didnt understand your point. But I got to be curious. First principles? Thucydides? Marcus Aurelius? The bible? Evolutionary Psychology (a branch of neo Darwinism), Marxist ideas (war as a disguise for social class struggle), Peter Turchin (social violence of any kind is a seesaw constant) etc etc What is the positive declaration you are positing here upon your "first principles" argument? By the way, who is the author of the video text? Brasil (I am a Brazilian baby boomer, I need text not images)

@@GUSCRAWF0RD REALLY GUS , after murdering a Million in Iraq with lies of WMD , waged an illegal and immoral war and list there . CREATED a civil war in Syria , lost there , lost to Taliban in Afghanistan after 20 yrs of MURDER AND MAYHEM IN hopes of defeating Taliban and bowed down to TALIBAN and came out, just like in Veitnam . We still want to think we will win against a JUGGERNAUT like Russia . Russia is not Iraq, it is not SYRIA , it is not Lybia , it is not Afghanistan : who allowed us to make a shooting gallery . You think Russia will allow such a behavior . I wish the peace Makers among us are more and are more powerful than the war Mongers . As a medical provider I have seen our Iraq war Vets cry . I have seen young vets, beautiful and handsome, in their prime robbed of their limbs on wheel chair brought for some recreation at Mount hood . I cannot forget that heart wrenching scene . Why and what for ? . Upto 20 000 or so young Men Women dead at the “ shooting galleries “ and then hundreds of thousands of Young Americans disabled physically or Mentally . Why ? What for ? And the Iraqi not one man hurt on 9/11 a single American . A Million Iraqi dead . And Millions made refugees . Have Empathy . Imagine you losing house and becoming homeless from a nice high paying job , because you got in car accident ( God forbid ) and need rehab cant make mortgage payment you lose your house and wife etc children helpless . Just imagine . I do not wish ill on you or anybody . But think about the scenario . I just want to close this for you and anyone who reads this : Yitzhak Rabin once said : The Military graveyards are a testament for the leaders to negotiate PEACE . Think about it sir . .
