Our minds turn against us. It’s madness. It’s like having a bully or a tormenter in our heads.

Thank you for this video Kirsty. I'm going through this at the moment and its an endless, tiring, scary loop and deep down I know but my brain is still like... Well how do you know? And what if etc. I always go back to this quote I found, "all the what ifs are just your OCD, and if something did happen you would know it as the grass is green and the sky is blue, stop looking for reassurance".

Hi I like this quote & it is very true. ❤️ I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this, I know how debilitating it is but there is hope. You might find my videos on meta cognitive therapy helpful? When we realise we can step back from all these intrusive thoughts & ‘what if’s’, leave them be with as least involvement as possible we can see these are separate to us & don’t need our attention. It can feel uncomfortable at first & we may feel more anxious but that’s because we’re starving the OCD from what it wants. With practice & consistency we then notice these intrusions become less & less as we’re showing OCD who’s boss, by teaching our brain not to recognise these ‘threats’s anymore & just treat them as passing thoughts that don’t need attention. Difficult at first but it gets easier, I hope this helps. All the best, Kirsty! 😊

Yeah when I was going through a rough time with this 10 years ago I realised there was very little help out there on this subject. Starting this channel was a great way to use my experiences to hopefully help others. Thank you for watching & wishing you all the besr, much love Kirsty. 😊🫶

Thank you for this. I’ve been going through this for years and going through a rough patch again. I’m also in the UK and finding it really hard to get help for this and don’t know what else to do

You’re welcome thanks for watching. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this too, it can feel so scary & overwhelming. Have you had any help for this through the NHS or privately? It can feel difficult accessing treatment especially through the NHS with waiting times etc but there is effective therapy out there. Did you know you can self refer through the the NHS talking therapies?! Once you get to see someone you can do therapy such as ERP & Meta cognitive that have been amazing for myself. There is definitely hope in getting better from this, mine was all done through the NHS. I really hope my videos are helping you in the meantime & I wish you all the very best! Kirsty. 😊

@@stuckinthemudofficial I’ve only ever tried to get help through my GP but have never really had much success. I’m finding it really hard to access any help for my mental health and I’ve been suffering badly on and off since 2019. It’s like no one takes it that seriously even though it’s crippling for me. Thank you so much for your videos. I hope I can recover from this 🤞🏼

@@kylehill9121 You can most definitely get better from this & that is from personal experience. I’ve been in some really dark places with OCD & anxiety but have managed to recover each time I’ve gone through an especially rough patch. If the GP is not being particularly helpful it might be worth looking into the self referral in your area through NHS talking therapies. I have used this in the past, they usually follow up with a telephone call once you have submitted the form online then you go on to waiting list to see a therapist. I hope this helps?! 😊🤞

@@stuckinthemudofficial My GP did refer me and I got a phone call but the woman on the phone was very dismissive of me as she was pushing me to open up about the details of my thoughts and I felt too ashamed and ended up not being referred for therapy. I may try and have a look at self-referral and see if I have any luck there

Over-experiencing is part of the cognitive thought process in OCD. When you have an obsession, a disorder will cause you to think about it over and over again in an endless cycle with the idea of finding a solution. The compulsive part will make you review your memories. The thoughts will make you anxious, feel inadequate in your daily life, even panicked and suicidal. My recommendation is to do the opposite of what you are doing, avoid activities that take away your anxiety. Medications have little effect, even at high doses. Almost everyone I have seen with this disorder, even with very severe symptoms, says they have recovered

@RadoslavTemelkov without meds i couldnt function, i had severe ocd, like severe intrusive thoughts, imagies all the time, i couldnt sleep, so meds for me was Life saviour 😊and yes High dose with antypsihotic 😊
