I hate how they’re starting to do mythic skins, because your now getting them one “level” at a time they want you to buy all 3-4 levels not just the 1-2 that you like so now they’re SPECIFICALLY making the next level better than the last and they advertise it as “upgrading” but that’s not what a mythic skin should be, a mythic skin every option should be just as viable as the last not just better and better each level so you’ll spend more money And I hate the battle pass, I know they gotta get that fomo money but like oh my god I want some of the old skins so bad but just no.. My biggest issue with recolors is when they add them to the battle pass. I can choose not to buy a recolor, but I can't do anything when 2 or 3 of the battle pass skins are recolors. I want the battle pass for everything else but not recolors

Fyi Mauga released with legendary skins but they weren't able to be bought with credits. It was one in the battle pass and one in the shop Another thing is that they sneakily removed the ability to buy the ultimate battle pass bundle skins separately in the hero gallery. It was implemented in s8 bc ppl complained about Lilith Moira being in the bp bundle, then persisted for s9 n s10, but since last season u can't buy them from the hero gallery anymore. Idk why they do that since they'd actually get more money from the ppl who wanted one of the skins but didn't wanna buy the full 40$ bundle

Now almost all new skins cost money, before you could get them for free. Loot boxes in Overwatch 1 were good, you could even get a lot of coins from loot boxes to buy the skin you wanted. I got 90% of all skins in Overwatch 1. And it was really fun to open loot boxes. I miss it a lot. The battle pass is really boring, you know what you're going to get and everyone who has the battle pass gets the same skin, so you don't feel special like before.

They don't need to exactly cut back. We don't just get kiriko and mercy skins, but we need more variety because hanzo/genji/ana/solder and even ashe sneaks in, also widow. It's favoritism, of course, but also, who's played a lot and sadly venture is kinda hated, on, and not enough people play them. But bro made a good point about fatigue, although if you can't afford a 20$ skin every 2/,3 months that's a issue in itself but also getting too much not quality skins is bad. Because the kiriko and mercy skins have been close or are recolor or redesigns of the base model, and that's not cool.

Idk.. a lot of my favorite skins have been recolors. Sometimes a recolor completely transforms the look of a skin, sometimes looks better than the original. Evermore Reaper and the Black Wolf Hanzo are in my top tier of skins.

Those were from OW1’s Remix events, where (most of them) can still be bought with credits you get for free. The recolors this season don’t really do much outside of Wyvern Mercy (Changes her eyes to glow and uses a more iconic dragon color), Deep Sea Wrecking Ball (Glows), and Heir (Slightly changes the suit’s surface outside of just colors). Recolors both gotta be with more effort and cheaper to buy. (even if the discount comes from owning the original skins first) Literally, the only recolors I’d own over the base skin is Ram’s summoner skin, because Necromancer straight up looks like a recolor of today.

Because skins are no longer the incentive to play, they are only the whale-bait. In overwatch 1, lets say there was an event with 8 new skins, I unlocked 5 for free and I was happy to drop $40 on lootboxes to get the remaining 3. I haven't bought a single skin in OW2, because there is no point to buy 1 from the 10 shop-skins I would want each season. The fact you can earn a single skin of your choice is simply killing the game for me.

Favoritism is going to be present no matter what. You can't really blame them for that, every single company, no matter if it develops video games or not, will care more about their product that sells more, than the one that sells less. While this is normal, less popular heroes should also receive some love. Riot games does it pretty well now with League, and there is only a handful of heroes that are still waiting for a skin, but the majority of them have received a skin in 2022 - 2023 - 2024, which is really good, considering that they have four times as many characters to make skins for as Overwatch

My problem with skin prices in Overwatch 2 is mostly to do with options. Put it simply, I can either pay 1900 coins for one shop legendary skin.... OR I can spend 1000 coins on the premium battle pass and get 5 legendary skins *AND* a mythic skin, along with some epic skins and a bunch of other stuff. So unless there's a specific shop skin that you really REALLY want, then there's just no point.

Reaper mythic skin is a bad one, a "Mythic Hanzo/Orisa 2.0", There's no customization, the armor options are just you adding more of his armor complete set, or just take them off, which is bad, is not a fucking option you're just making visible (i like the fanservice, but there's difference between fanservice and lazyness). About the base skins, they kind stop doing on Ramattra (consider a base skin the skin you can buy it with credits, aka they came with the hero) we get 2 legendary ones that are one skin in two colors, 1-2 epics that were recolors with some more details and the 4 base recolors Then they stop on lifeweaver, since he's two epics one was a reward of his release event, another a exclusive shop skin Mauga don't even came with a legendary skin, there's one as a battlepass reward, another was a collab skin, his epics were one in the supreme battlepass offer (with one for moira), and later they release his Rugby epic skin in shop then put it in his starting offer bundle. Illari didnt have epics either, she got the legendary base recolors at the least (can't remember if you can buy with credits x-x), then they release a epic recolor called amethyst, and later she lost the exclusive shop skin tag and get availiable for credits in her gallery. also remember when we usually get one of these heroes legendary skin colors in twitch drop was a celebration for the season start and their release? they stop in ramattra too, we now get dogshit Wrecking ball/torb skins or any set of shop skin that flop and they think is worthless instead of new heroes skins

This is all opinion. I personally really like recolours. A recolour of a legendary skin that I really like is worth more to me than a brand new legendary skin. Rose gold mercy is actually my favorite skin of all time.

please stop comparing OW1 skin "economy" to OW2 for the simple fact they HAD to be "fair" w/ OW1 for it was a game you had to pay for in order to just play it. and because of this, they were receiving backlash for having loot boxes in a game most had to pay 60 dollars to play back then. so to aid in that and help w/ PR they were more fair. from doing something that pleases EVERYONE to giving loot boxes away for free. it was because of other's valid criticism of micro transaction in a game you had to pay for. now with that paywall gone, not only did those criticism stop for you can't make them anymore (the game is free). but the publisher took this as an opportunity to lower the quality, lower staff (let's not forget the layoffs) and push crunch even harder. all because they think the game being "free' justify the game and the horrible state that it is in.
