Hey Chris, did you hear that Harrison Ford had a Halloween party at his house this year. But he was upset that three people came to the party dressed as the same Harry Potter character. When he opened the door and saw them he said, "Snapes, why'd it have to be Snapes". PS: I am not a fan of Smuggler's Run.

I LOVE Indiana Jones. It was my Grammy's favorite ride at Disneyland and I will ride it when I'm there, but I'm one and done. It's very jerky and you do feel like you're about to fall out. It gives my arms a work out from hanging on for dear life, but it's so nostalgic for me that I can't not ride it! Personally, I don't ride any of the mountains or Matterhorn (did Splash before it closed though!). My favorite older ride is Peter Pan and my favorite of the newer rides is Rise. I also adore a good cruise on Winnie the Pooh lol

Bob Gurr came to Sacramento a few years ago. During the question session he apologized for how rough the Matterhorn ride is. He said he had to learn the math to calculate the curves. He said he used the outside of the tubes in his calculations, but found out later you use the center. He said that is part of what makes it rough. LOL

Chris, could you do a video on Disneyland’s old letter-based ticketing system? I remember growing up, all the most fun rides were “E-ticket” rides. What’s the history on that? Why’d they do that and when did it end?
@iamthesayyadina
@iamthesayyadina Жыл бұрын
Former DL CM here (‘77-‘84), Even though it was much less expensive to get into the park then, and both the 10 and 15 ticket books gave you more “E”tickets than anything else, you’d still run out of tickets and need to buy individual tickets inside the park, which cost more. They were discontinued in summer of ‘82 when it went to Passports (entrance and unlimited attractions. But, yes, Chris should do a deep-dive on the ticket history because there’s a lot there. (Might be a bit on the boring side unless you’re a complete Disney nerd. 😊

@@iamthesayyadina Some of the old ticket booths are still in the park, my favorite being the mushroom outside of Alice in Wonderland. Small World was my least favorite. In fact I re-wrote the lyrics. "It's a world of sadness a world of tears, you hop on this boat for what seems like years, yes this ride is so long it just goes on and on, nothing small about this world." Then I took my granddaughter on it when she was 18 months old. I was able to see the ride through her eyes. I now love the ride because of this wonderful memory. I love Indy. One of my favorites... although I have walked away with some bruises. Because it is so dark in space mountain, I get motion sickness and then don't feel well. So I have not gone on it for some time. So I am on-board with those who feel ill after. Better now than when they opened, but still not pleasant. Small world, so nostalgic and great on a hot afternoon with great air conditioning. Young children in particular love it and it is heart warming to see them in great enjoyment. My first ever trip to Disneyland, Matterhorn was an E ticket. I rode it five times that day. It was my favorite for years. Now that I am not so young any more,,, it is hard on the body. When my grandson went for the first time, I was telling my daughter that he might be too young and get scared of the abdominal. He was a tall kid and barely tall enough to ride. She assured me he would be fine. I did not want him to be scared and then not want to go on attractions. When we got to that dark spot and the fiery eyed abdominal jumped, out my grandson said "hi fury friend" so all was well for the whole family.

It was sponsored by Chevron. 2) "Junior Autopia" was added the next year in 1956 and was sponsored by Richfield, another oil company. It was smaller and located just north of the submarine ride. It closed in 1958 (replaced by the motor boat attraction - now gone). 3) The third was called "Midget Autopia" and was just for little tikes. It opened the following year in 1957 and was located right next to the "Q" to Canal Boats, immediately east of that and part of Fantasyland. I just recently stumbled across your tour vids of park secrets and absolutely love it! (I think you should do a vid with ‘Offhand Disney’ and tour the park together! You both bring back so much nostalgia and produce such wonderful material !) I unfortunately haven’t been to the park in years, and kick myself in the butt for not riding splash mountain one last time… so much has changed in the park since I’ve been (and my family would go EVERY year when I was young, but like I said, it’s been years - I haven’t experienced/seen the new “cars land” and “star wars” exhibits etc 😓)… Your list shocked me, aside from one ride (which was understandable, but still a landmark in Disneyland - even if it’s song got stuck in your head ). Those where my favorite rides growing up and left the most impact! Like, we HAD to ride them for my vacation to be complete! I’m 34, and the last time I was at Disneyland, I wasn’t able to legally drive (tho I longed to), so I can understand the criticism of one of the rides on your list… but geez I’d love to re-live it regardless 😓 it’s been too long, I need to make a trip to the magic kingdom… though, maybe that I’m “old” now, maybe I could relate to some of these “reviews “; however, I’d probably be lost in the nostalgia to care ❤

"pretend to be stuck in traffic" so true 🤣 I'm honestly surprised Autopia is still around, that's pretty much the only ride I've not gone on in the past 10 years... Nemo is close as well, but just cause I don't like being crammed in the sun lol.

Matterhorn is rough but it is such a classic and the theming is so good. During our New Years visit it was raining so hard. We rode Matterhorn and the water was running and dripping all over inside of the mountain. It made for a great unique experience. Keep up the hard work. Love you guys 💚 💙

Matterhorn is the GOAT. You have to learn how to ride it properly - loose and back slightly lifted off backrest. If you ride stiff and back firm on seat it’s RIP noob. The learning curve makes me love it even more. Like I’m handing down well earned lore to my kids lol. We love hitting it 3 or 4 times in a row at close or during fire works. Perfection.

My least favorite of all time was rocket rods. I missed the people mover. The current ride that's my least favorite is Autopia. It takes to much land for what it is. The only problem with removing it is with the monorail track there they can't place anything else there

I don't care for autopia either, but they could improve the ride if they created unique fun looking vehicles. Like the different cars from the movies, or a car based on various characters.

Glad to see Space Mountain made the list. I always feel like I'm going to be decapitated. Another ride I do not go on is the rockets in Tomorrow land. The cars angle in and are hard to get in and out of, and the up and down and circle motion is not good, especially after that corndog and churro.😋

I’d take any of these rides over most of the rides in fantasy land. Those all have long lines and are ehh. Small world is great on a warm afternoon. Out of the sun, and an opportunity to cool off. I’ve been riding the Matterhorn for over 55 years. Still my favorite!

my problem with it's small world isn't so much the music as it is those acoustic ceiling tiles and square boring rooms. i feel like i'm floating through someone's office space that just happens to have a disney attraction in it. i'm pretty sure it used to be the disney accounting department before the ride opened many years ago.

1) Casey's Train- Storybook canal shows you the same scenery, but better 2) Autopia- the same go carts you can ride at your local amusement park. 3) Jungle Cruise- good the 1st and 2nd time, but the jokes get tired quickly. 4) Roger Rabbit- wierd ride and what is with the spinning? However, the four attractions I like that no one likes; 1) Great Moments with Mr Lincoln 2) Mark Twain 3) It's A Small World 4) Finding Nemo

Small World might be my second favorite ride because it's so cool seeing all of the cultures and mentally pointing out where they're all from and seeing the animatronics in their traditional clothing. I never minded the repetitiveness of the music BUT we did have some sort of issue with the ride and we're stuck there for awhile and I thought, "Ohhh. Okay, yeah this music can get super annoying." Haha

Hey, Cris: How about doing a video of secrets that are NOT true, like the golden spike marking the center of Disneyland, Death Certificates from the Haunted Mansion and the American Flags missing a stripe or star so they do not have to be lowered at sunset.

Small world is great when you need to cool off or warm up depending on the season but it gets very repetitive. I only go on it during the holidays when the lights are really pretty.

You are too silly, love your videos! Someone told me that if you want to ride the Matterhorn, you want to go to the right side, that it's actually smoother than the left. I plan on checking this out in December when I return to Disneyland, as I don't know if this is truly true.

I wrote this on the original post: The Tiki Room. I was letting my SO know the last time I ride it, I left. Longest 45 minutes of my life… she let me know the show only lasts like 15 minutes… so I dislike if so much that time slowed. Clickety-clackety birds are a no for me.

My great uncle was one of the imagineers who built Small World. He hated the ride! He had to fix those dolls every time they broke down. We rode it with him back in the 80s, and he spent the whole time complaining about how many dolls there were on the ride and the song that still haunted his dreams.
