Fun Fact: On the roof of a building in NZ, there is an actual statue of The Shocker and it does not look happy. Quote from news source dated Aug 2019: A “terrifying” five-metre tall sculpture of a hand with a face has been flown in from the South Island to perch on top of a contemporary art gallery in the New Zealand capital of Wellington. It fixes passersby with a disapproving expression. Meant to liven up the Civic Square that was damaged in a 2016 earthquake, the work has instead alarmed and terrified locals, who have described the work as “a Lovecraftian nightmare [that] has come to life”.

Good comedians make you laugh, but the great ones can also make you cry. They got me on this one. Probably the best written song from Panther thus far. The comedy and silly songs are great, but this one is on another level as far as nostalgia and capturing that magical feeling of the 80's that you can only know if you were there.

I have seen Satchel and Michael Starr ( Ralph Saenz) play in a Van Halen tribute band "Atomic Punks" in early 2000s and they were amazing. They actually opened me up to a lot of VH's deeper tracks and made me a big VH fan. I saw Van Halen at the US festival and truth be told, Atomic Punks were a100000 times better performance. A couple years after I saw Atomic Punks, I was rehearsing with my band in a San Fernando studio and I bumped into Ralph and had a chat with him. Steel Panther was rehearsing right next to us and they sounded so awesome. Anyone who knows 80's metal will love this band because first and foremost, they are fantastic musicians, and second, they inject great humor without being insulting to the genre. Watching Michael Starr doing Ozzy impersonation is spot on and hilarious. They are awesome.

The place erupted and got the biggest cheer of the day. fucking amazing.

For being a comedy metal band, that song with all the little jokes in it still managed to really gut check me thinking about how life was in the 80's and the early 90's... especially after the halfway point of the song... the line about Dave and Eddie getting back together and knowing that can't happen now along with the final two lines of the song really just hit me like a truck. Not just for memories, but the realization of just how much time has passed and how we're all getting older... It somehow became a real eye opener that my youth is long behind me now and I'm staring down middle age. Guess this was the start of my mid-life crisis lol.

to be honest, I've never been a Steel Panther fan, but this resonates. For example, I watched the last season of Stranger Things and Metallica was obviously given the limelight, but at that time period we weren't listening to Metallica. We were listening to Randy Rhoads, Dio, Dokken, etc., and when I cook I time things by listening to Queensryche Operation Mindcrime (although that is 1988). So 1987 does resonate with me.

'Hysteria' dropped in 87, the follow up to the massively successful 'Pyromania'. 7 singles off 'Hysteria' reached Billboard with 'Love Bites' hitting number one. 'Hysteria' arguably was - along with Van Halen 'the' biggest record of that era, the genius Steve Clark's magical live performances, his writing/creating of 90% of their lyrics and actual music has enabled Leppard to tour off what he left the band, 'Mutt' Lange's masterpiece this record was. Both 'Hysteria/Pyromania' have been certified Diamond in the US. 25+ million units sold for 'Pyro/Hysteria' each, those are staggering numbers - only Van Halen could match Leppard. 'Hysteria' was arguably 'the' record that could never be bested, it's layered guitar parts and although many fans hated it as it was very different to Leppard's early records that 'Mutt' also produced, a heavier sound - 'Hysteria' still has some hard rock kick arse songs. Like 'Never Mind The Bollocks' - 'Hysteria/Pyromania' remain brilliant records that defined the best decade ever, the 80's.

Steel Panther is the shit, and they’re awesome people. Have had the luxury of gigging alongside them 5 times now… and every show we’ve played with them has been a blast. They’re standup dudes and great professionals 🙏🏼
