The more likely explanation is that the name is a product of or a homage to the british secretary of state for foreign affairs 35-38 and 40-45 (and later PM) Anthony Eden.

The first voice modulation systems were used to emulate female voices of the singers, but, as Englishmen, they didn't know a bit of lore behind Sweden, so their first hit song was about the first battle they heard from history - Trafalgar. They later changed it to "Waterloo" to avoid cover-up being blown this easily (it being fought with a coalition of countries, with possible intent to make up an involvement of 'Sweden' in this battle). Sadly, after the death of John Lennon by the "There's no Sweden" movement, the band couldn't last for long, reusing already made material for some time to divert attention from the link between these events.

The funniest bit about this is there is a real conspiracy theory, not about Sweden, about Finland. They say it doesn’t exist and Russia made a deal with Japan to be able to fish in ‘Finland’ and so the governments hide that special body of water by pretending Finland is there. The response to Finns is that they actually live in Sweden and the Swedish Government has its own pretend Finnish Government which is why everyone learns Swedish there. The landmass of Sweden doesn't even exist, you should have realized that when you heard it's impossible to calculate the length of the shorelines because the tide changes it by millions of meters every second of every day.

I think they've got it all backwards. Sweden is very real (I would know, I live there), but the UK is a myth. I mean, has anyone ever been there, or ever met anyone claiming to be from there? No? I thought not.
