Speaking as a male. this is exactly how you do them. like if your male has any body fat at all the hips will curve in slightly and look kinda like a box in a way. however if they are stick skinny like me, the body does this: Slight indent between the ribs and top of the hip bone, then a curve outward at the hip bone followed with a slight inward curve theeeen......legs. And thats it! i always have issues drawing legs on literally any character

To add something, women are also more common in a world of advertisement. It's pretty clear companies love to put them on bilboard more than men. And I think there is a connection between those to phenomena. I don't know if this a legit info but I heard that according to study, a whamen is more likely to like the look of another whamen than guy is to like the look of another guy. And that would be a strong point to why ppl draw women more often. I guess there must be some legitimacy in it because companies care a lot about what attracts customers and if hot dudes were as effective as hot chicks, we would definitely see more of the first ones in commercials.

It's not okay! You need to get off from your comforts zone and learn. You can't just sit and draw women, someday you will just start drawing them magnificently, and that's will be your end point, you can't upgrade your skills at drawing girls anymore, so your art skill keeps standing on its place. That's why you should start learning new stuff, do not be scared or be too lazy with that, you need to go forward and learn.

I've been drawing for 23 years, and I have to say that women are a lot harder for me to draw. I drew a lot of men in my teenage years, and for some reason, I can drew them with more ease... even if I take a big break from drawing them, and focus only on drawing women. Maybe it's just different for everyone. I know a few artists who only draw men and can't draw women at all.

Two ideas I came up with while watching this: 1) Would male artists feel more pressure to avoid drawing men, especially growing up, out of fear of being teased? 2) Women tend to represent the aesthetic and men the the logic, so I would people who are inclined to study the aesthetic naturally gravitate toward studying the female figure vs the male figure?

The reason I draw only females is that: 1. I'm a female and I know how my body works 2. Idk for me it's easier and have more possibilities, like makeup, so many different body shapes and more. 3. For some reason I like drawing men more and making more male characters even though I’m female. I guess I just relate to them better? And I’m not really into cutesy stuff at all, and I’m a lot more into cool stuff. And also I’m more into a tough cookie vibe in characters than a fragile flower (not sure if that’s even a phrase that exists) And also most of the female characters that I do make are strong and tough and more of a tomboy so yeah. And another thing, I like colors like brown and dark red over colors like bright pink. Which, as it turns out, is a very unpopular opinion. I’m not trying to sound sexist or anything, cause like I said before, I’m female (which no interest in becoming trans). It’s just I don’t like the vibes as much.

One of the reasons why for me is because it is kind of hard- you can draw the torso but once you get into something like the waist or legs it is like their legs are a pair of sticks that will break if you use them to walk and it feels weird,

Honestly the reason I draw guys less is bc I feel like(knowing my family) one of my family members would go through my drawings and ask me about it I don’t feel like explaining that to them even though there’s not a problem??.. Oof

Personally i only draw males because i can't draw females. I'm bad at the softer features. Most people say "your sexist!!11" its like no, drawing females isnt my strong area. I can, but they look like men. But i guess ill have to practice

I think the answer is on personal level, because usually people draw mainly for pleasure. Women are so much more interesting to draw, because you have more posibilities to pose them (they're generally more flexible and some poses can be seen by someone as weird or "gay" if they're used on man), dress and style their hair/makeup and it's normal. Creatively styling men is also absolutely fine, but not that common. I love drawing women (and delicate people with no specified gender), because I find them aesthetically appealing, I usually can't say it about men that often. And also Im gay

Your shape theory is actually the one I think is most accurate to myself. I draw soft/feminine looking faces so when I add in hair and the body (I mindlessly doodle a lot) I just accentuate that.
