Why do Staghorn fern growth bud drop?

I was tempted to order a very small plantycerium this week, but from past experience I told myself No, dont do it become i knew the roots are small and the probabilities of it surviving in my care are slim. 😢

Although, small plants can be hardy with good root system it also depends on a lot of other factors. Agreed that comfortable level is the best call in plant keeping.
