I was thinking the exact same. They could have done anything to counter it, like more pushback after 2 or 3 gadukens, similar to how they did kens throw loops, but this random gaduken also kind of ties into dans stupid mistake style.

More like a lazy way that adds unnecessary RNG to a competitive fighting game when they could’ve just cut the hitstun of one of the moves involved by a frame or two to get rid of the Danfinite 🙄

I like how Red Gadouken seems to be a callback to how Ryu in earlier SFII versions had a rare chance to throw a red Hadouken that was just a visual Easter egg (before it was incorporated as Shakunetsu Hadouken) It also making the Danfinite randomly fail is just really funny to me personally

You could recall that Dan actually has tried using the Satsui no Hado before. This might be the reason why they made the red one showed up randomly probably that he can use it but not at will

@@watchulookinat271 That would also make sense and be another nice nod to history given how much and how deeply he wanted to kill Sagat for years as revenge for his father's death at Sagat's hands, to the point that it's why Gouken ultimately kicked him out in the place. While Dan eventually got over that after he "beat" Sagat (who threw the fight because of how revenge-obsessed he saw Dan was), strong feelings like that tend not to just to completely vanish.

i like that their fix for the Dan infinite was to not add extra push back or anything that would normally be done, just gave him a "new move" that pops up eventually to interrupt.

It's great because outside of the Infinite it's a direct buff. But it randomly stops the infinite. Dan is probably the only character that gets nerfed by a buff.

I am pleasantly surprised that Capcom found a nice way to get rid of the Dan's infinite without going to their beloved default option of "sabotage Dan and nerf him into the ground because he's a joke character."

Well, Capcom did noted themselves to not do nerfs and only do buffs, so they nerfed Danfinite with a buff. Dan still be able to infinite still, but the random red fireball chance will fail his infinite. I think you can still combo finisher into it, though.

@@Trimint123 I see. Well, if true about Capcom's design philosophy change, then that's quite welcome news to hear. I don't even particularly care for Dan, and I also try to be realistic about the fact that, in addition to being far easier to do, sometimes nerfs *are* needed even more mundane non-Marvel-esque in not literally broken circumstances, e.g. _SF4:AE_ Yun legitimately being idiotic as hell upon release. Perhaps Capcom learned from its folly (for once) given that it was in _SF4_ of course where Capcom tried to, among other things, nerf Dan into the ground. Despite their attempts, Dan still was somehow *not* the worst character in the game by the end of the _SF4_ editions just because a few other characters were so fundamentally broken and weak, e.g. Dee Jay being a poor man's Jamaican Guile. I am personally fine if Dan *is* the weakest character in whatever game he's in and if that is still Capcom's ultimate goal, but if that is so, then it's a goal that definitely seems better off achieved by at least trying to buff the other weaker characters first than by figuratively breaking Dan's arms & legs. Ideally, even the weakest character in any game should be still be "good" or at least functional.

@@sean_image The recovery isn't nearly as bad you it looks. You can easily combo into any of his special moves from it in the corner, gotta use Dan kicks from mid screen tho

@@sean_image Dan can combo after it anywhere on the screen. Though what juggles you can get off it depend on how far away Dan is from the opponent when it hits and if you're midscreen or in the corner.

@@sean_image the massive float state of the opponent leaves you to do a mk dan-kick into upper and then super if you have the meter. You can even cancel into trigger after red fireball for a better visual confirm then use trigger shenanigans or dash up dan-punches into super.

That’s the best way they could have nerfed the Dan Infinite. It’s still in the game, still possible, but you can’t do it forever. Still the satisfaction of the infinite, but more balance so that you don’t trap you opponent with one setup for the rest of the round, and the knockdown isn’t that bad, if you can v trigger after it, then it’s probably a setup too. I’m impressed Capcom, well done.

Sort of, because of the knock-back and air time, you can combo after it, but really at this point you are finishing the combo since you can't juggle forever. It pretty much just makes the danfinite an average loop than an infinite.

That's a creative way to fix the infinite. They'd kept it in but balanced it by having the Red Gadouken being a random chance so I'm all in for that.

There's couple of ways. One is to revert to previous patch and record offline. The other is to select trials from previous seasons as they use frames and moves from the old seasons. Like, if you select season 1 trials for Balrog, he still has his old charge moves that got changed to regular input in later seasons.

Why did the red have to be random? They could’ve made it active after three hadoukens. Also giving him another aspect of his projectile. V-Skill activate after red and combo end. This still gives players satisfaction of completing a combo without cheapening the cheap infinite.

Man, i really hate that a lot of this new fun juggles were just recently added ... it goes to tell you how "dry" or "linear" first season was... i jumped at 3 where things were already better, but damn, the first years were a struggle in both gameplay and fun department.

I was disappointed, I thought it was new blows added to the combos, but it only improved the damage.
