The majority of patch jobs on train locomotives are because the road that acquired the used locomotives needs to put in service quickly. A patch is quicker than a paint job.

The last unit was crazy! Burlington Northern 3008, Seaboard System, and 3015. multiple railroads mushed into 1 locomotive.

That first one is actually pretty sick. Daylight-ish scheme on a U25R looks cool. The patched over UP locos are cool too. SOO Ex-BN patch is BALLIN' BNSF Vomit looks cool UP with SP nose looks cool YOU ARE WRONG, SOUTHERN ONTARIO RAL PROD.
