I remember saying this in 2016, but most people seemed pretty convinced there was no chance of Mr Trump winning, and shrugged it off. I just hope the same mistake is not repeated in 2024.

🙏 An added note: Just a reminder that Trump had his predatory lowest common denominator "reality" show, The Apprentice, for 20 years. It modeled predatory behavior and rewarded anyone participating on the show who displayed dominating, predatory and degrading qualities. That show took over pop culture for the unemployed, uneducated and alienated. They wanted to be the one who said, "You're fired!" I believe that show "groomed" Trump's base. If you look at the numbers, the percentage who watched that show matches the percentage that revere trump now. I blame the anemic public educational system in our country. Elimination of courses like critical thinking, civics, American history. It's a hot mess.

American here again, I cannot wrap my head around the MAGA people. A lot live in rural areas in the South I have noticed. One of the many terrible things he's done is give people the freedom to express their hatred, sexism and racism. I see it on Nextdoor, in a microcosm. Someone posted about the car ahead of her deliberately running over a turtle. She stopped to try to help it, but couldn't. She cried. People were openly mocking her. That's just a small example, but people now feel free to let their true feelings out, when before it was less acceptable. He has opened Pandora's box.

I just lost my 16 yr old 🐕. My friend offered to dig a grave for her. When he told his roommate what he was doing, he laughed and said 'That's ridiculous, it's only a dog". I was so hurt. Imagine being completely devoid of feeling or compassion towards people or animals. I know that I need to pray for him to become a real person and experience emotions like most of us do. 😪

I remember my mother , a fundamentalist christian, telling me there was no such thing as magic. Magic is “make believe”, what Disney does. Well, looks like we are a crossroads, yet once again. The perfect storm has happened. We always seem to arrive at the debris field left by the storm sooner or later. Did we miss the lesson? Did we learn anything? Or, are we going to keep digging the hole deeper? The world didn’t grow up, mature, and gain wisdom. It reverted to the most destructive and childish behaviors. When I look out, I see children fighting, yet they appear to be adult in size. A playground brawl, a lunchroom food fight, a fight in the hallway, destroying property because they didn’t get their way. I laugh at reality TV, that BS is so far from reality, it is 6 steps below delusion. The world is filled with billions of manipulative land mines. So overloaded with stimuli that the only peace to be found is deep within a forest. We are energy and light. We battle hourly the electronic forces that take away our magnetic field that surrounds and protects us. We are living in the age of incompetent ‘know it alls’. The scammers and frauds have been with us since the dawn of time. They just haven’t had the electronic world as their stage ever before. We are battling the pandemic or plague of ignorance. Peace and the rats will devour one another. Time and patience.

I have a friend who I really like he's actually a very sweet person. But he is an ardent Trump supporter. He lives in a rural state. He is 70 years old and a Vietnam Veteran. Thus far, I have not been able to shake him out of his delusion. I know Trump is going down and I know Trump is a criminal and I know Trump is a terrible person that notwithstanding. It is un decipherable to me why anyone would still support him. I think my friend thinks the left is corrupt. My friend does not trust the government, especially reflecting upon his Vietnam experience. It is a process of learning to choose to live with harmony and peace with the focus on what is beneficial for our humanity and our individual rights of our lives. We all are truly essential and worthy of love and kindness in respect for each other and ourselves. The years of inadequacy in our public schools and the indoctrination of our children to be helpless victims of assault weapons is insanity and is very dangerous for a society to endure for so long. We all have so much stress and the constant fears of homelessness and illnesses that are happening in our midst. We are all engaged in competitive adversaries and the celebration of aggressive behavior that is normalized in our lives with each other in work and in play. People feel unheard and they are very afraid and not hopeful for their lives in the ability to prosper or to be comfortable in life. We see the rise of gangs for each generation of people. Parenting is a time consuming process and people have no time to spend with the children or even care for their own personal interests. The fears are real and they are threatening our sanity and our humanity. We don't know our neighbors and we are all tired and overwhelmed with the ability to make changes that matter for our health and safety. We have a crazy making media and a lot of people who are not concerned about the world and the environment and how to behave with harmony and peace with integrity and empathy ❤ They want power and demand to be heard. They are not receptive to the ideals of peace and love through inclusion and respect for each other. It is a constant struggle for them and they are not concerned with truth, compassion, kindness, respect for others who are different from them. It is a gang, a cult, a real problem for us all in our lives and our world. They preach end times and they are heavily armed with assault weapons and they are threatening our lives and our Democracy and our civil rights and the desire for peace love and understanding through this situation of lack of honesty and the ability to infiltrate our government and to be inspired to make our future bleak and more chaotic than we ever imagined possible. We are witnessing a worldwide crisis that is threatening our existence. This is a very intense time for us to realize our commonality and our humanity through our actions and our understanding of what is at stake. Fascism is a very real problem. It has been reinvigorated by the actions of the ex president's numerous crimes and the followers of this corrupt group of people who are in a place of war with the goodness of the other people who are not loyal to their own power hungry destruction and their actions for the future attacks on our schools, our freedoms, our minds and our future survival and peace. We have a choice of what we want rather than the victimization of our lives in the present attacks on our lives and our Democracy and our decency and our humanity. Thanks Maryann for taking the time to speak about this time of countless horrible actions that threaten our world. We all have to remain aware and steadfast in our own lives with clarity and the desire for peace and healing with doing things that are beneficial for our future survival and peace. The thing is these poor disfranchised people are that way for a lot of them because of their own life choices that they made over the years and they don’t want to take responsibility and face consequences of those terrible choices and was looking for someone, group etc to blame and trump provided that. I was listening to a podcast about agency and relationships. She made a point of the importance of knowing ourselves. It sounds simple but it’s not easy. I do agree with the sentiment. If you ask Trump supporters why they love him, they can’t put their reasons into words. When they do give an example, for instance he tells the truth…the interviewer points to the contradiction in their thinking. It comes across like they can’t even define what truth is for themselves. I also hear the same arguments verbatim in each interview. Like a group think dynamic. Fascinating reading Maryanne. I love how you broke down the reasons here. It may not change anything but it really does help to understand. Sending love and gratitude 🙏🏽 ❤

You are old and fat he’d never have touched you”. In 2016 she was 40 and popped out a few kids. In 2004-she was stunning. She hasn’t spoken to her mother since 2016. His followers are in a cult. So heartbreaking.

I would love to ask a average member of the Maga party these questions: Are you financially secure and not having to live paycheck to paycheck, can pay for a roof over your head, provide for the basic needs for yourself and your family? Do you have health insurance or if not, do you know know if you can pay for a trip to the emergency room without having to go bankrupt? Do you have or know of anyone who relies on Social Security and Medicare for their income and health? If they answer no to any of the former questions and yes to the last question, then I’d try to make them understand that if the GOP, GQP, MAGA, Freedom Caucus, etc. get total control of the country, then you can be assured that everything you rely on for support will no longer exist. These people don’t care about you in any way shape or form. They only care about power at all costs. They want you poor, ignorant, and powerless - a sheep who will do as it’s told. Is this the life that you want for yourself, your family and society? Please dig down deep and see what really matters to you and for the country. I sincerely doubt that you would ever vote for one of these folks again! 🙏🙏🙏
