My Great Grandfather immigrated from the Aarwangen Canton Bern area in the late 1880's. He settled in eastern Nebraska on the Great Plains. Large mostly level farm ground. I grew up on a farm/ranch that grew corn and soybeans, as well as native grass hay. As we ran a cow calf herd as well as finishing the calves for the consumer market. All the ag equipment was JD green. The smallest tractor is a 40 HP 4044R. Everything else is between 100 HP to around 300 HP.

It really is fascinating how many swiss move to america and started farming. This is something I want to look into further when I have more time.
