Hi from New Zealand Aussie Jetsetter, thanx4the awesome video of Link Airways, lack of updated flight info can be a airlines biggest weakness / shortfalls., re communication with passengers. I love it how airlines piss their customers around with shody service.
@AussieJetSetter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Brian! Thrilled you enjoyed it mate! Yes I agree poor communication can easily let down what can otherwise be a really good flight. Delays are sometime unavoidable but Keeping your customers in the loop is is just customer service 101!

The most convenient alternative is the three hour Murrays bus from Central to Canberra CBD.
@AussieJetSetter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I used to take the Murray’s bus every few weeks or so when I was living in Canberra very convenient indeed! In fact I will be having a review of them coming up soon as I caught the bus back to Sydney Airport to get a Jetstar flight to the Sunshine Coast!

it is but i prefer the train even though it takes 4 hours.
@AussieJetSetter7 ай бұрын
Yeah something about the ability to get up and move freely around the train a d up to the cafe car etc. Not so possible on a bus however the bus is probably going be quicker for most (unless you live in western Sydney they may be some advantage to train)

Link Airways actually operates up to 10 daily return flights for Virgin Australia! As for why? A lot of people travel between Canberra and Sydney for meetings, also you've got those connecting from other locations via Sydney, it's a very important part of Canberra's aviation market. Link Airways operates the wet lease for Virgin Australia because VA sold their ATR 72's that used to operate the route and no longer have any aircraft of their own that are suitable to operate 10 daily returns. The key to success on the CBR-SYD route is to offer as many daily services as you can (because most people flying this route are travelling to be in Canberra or Sydney at a certain time, for meetings or such) which can only effectively be done using smaller aircraft.

Thanks for watching Bob and offering your insight. You are 100% correct ever since they got rid of there ATR 72s that I’ve flown the route on before it was never going to be economically feasible to regularly fly 737s on the route! Your right too about keeping up a frequent schedule to cater to the business market. Cheers Stephen

whats it like to fly on these aircraft are they very bumpy
@AussieJetSetter3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Matt. The aircraft movements are certainly more pronounced for sure being so small but this was actually a really smooth flight I thought.

Hey mate this is a great video I work for qantas link I normally do the q400 goes To Canberra we get a lot of politician fly with us, and also got Rex Saabs link big competition for that route qantas dominates it
@AussieJetSetter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching mate glad you enjoyed it! I think the politicians and public servants flying on the route (on the tax payer dime of course) partly contributes to the relatively high flight costs on this route and yep Qantas would Defs dominate for that market of flyers!

It's pretty noisy, so stay clear of rows 3 and 4. Ask me how I know 😀
@AussieJetSetter2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. You are right certainly one of the noisier turboprops!

@@AussieJetSetter I enjoyed the video, so thanks for documenting your travels! The other flight characteristic with the Saab is that it feels like it is fish tailing (for want of the proper term). Felt like there was significant rudder inputs.

Link Airways may be relatively new but have a long history - going backwards they are part of Corporate Air and excellent charter operator that was known as VH Aviation which has its origins within Crowley Airlines that operated in PNG. As far as the trips concerned a one way hire car is better value and no baggage allowance - been there done that.

Thanks for watching Stuart and offering a lot of valuable insight there! Cheers, Stephen

Great video your voice sounds better. Did you get a new mic?
@AussieJetSetter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for tuning in again Emerson! Microphone set up hasn’t changed I’ve still got the yeti for the Voiceover and Rode for my GoPro - I think I’ve just become better at managing the audio settings. I think before I didn’t quite appreciate the need to tone down my audio so I had some clipping issues. I think there is still room for perfection but glad you noticed an improvement :)

aged a bit of a stretch. It’s still very serviceable.
@AussieJetSetter5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. They are certainly getting on for age probably close to 30 years but I certainly don’t see any need for their retirement anytime soon! I agree there pretty serviceable still!

I guess there’s not much out there to replace the 340’s…
@AussieJetSetter7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I don’t see ageing turboprops been replaced to the Syd - CBR route anytime soon I guess QantasLink could fly the A220 or it’s Embraers but they are probably too big and uneconomical if either airline wants to maintain this as a high frequency service.
@chrisnewman72815 ай бұрын
link seems to suffer quite regularly from flight delays
@AussieJetSetter5 ай бұрын
Can’t speak for vast experience as only ever flown them on this occasion but this flight was indeed quite late!

@@AussieJetSetter Had to wait an extra hour at Hobart Airport last Tuesday while the plane winged its way Southward from Canberra due to some hold-up or rather

you nkow your be in the air for 55 minuets to get from sydney to canberra its only a short flight because sydney and canberra are not to far from each other mate
@AussieJetSetter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching mate, as I said in the review it’s a very short flight indeed - probably spend just as much time on the ground in the aircraft then flying time in the air itself! The bus from Sydney Airport to Canberra only takes like 3 hours too!
