Your videos are very interesting and informative and even though I'm too old and fragile to actually do any of it, I can dream about what I could have accomplished if I hadn't been such a wild child 50 years ago. 😄 I love it that all of you guys are following your dreams and making it work. Your videos are very informative, well organized and edited. The background on this one is especially enjoyable. I just subbed to your channel a couple of days ago. Looking forward to watching some of the older ones.

I studied up on meat goats long before we had a place for them and learned about the Boer health issues, especially in humid environments and read about the Kikos pretty much being the opposite. We're in the MO Ozarks where it's very wet and humid. We've got rocks we can sit on too:) Knowing that Boers put weight on kids, what I ended up getting last year was two full Kiko does and a 7/8 Boer -- 1/8 Kiko Boer buck. All three were yearlings and we got two kids this year, a buckling and doeling. The buckling was a New Year's baby and he's just about as big as his momma now and has a big ole set hanging. He's thick and would probably be grade #1 at the sale barn aka livestock auction. The 7/8 Boer buck is as healthy as a horse and even if he turned out to be a little high maintenance, it's only one goat. His buckling son would be half the 7/8 Boer for 7/16 Boer which leaves 5/16 Kiko. Still got thick quick . I'm keeping the buckling for now and maybe for good but starting next year, bucklings will start going in the freezer. When the herd gets big enough, I'll sell what I don't keep. I'll start with private buyers but will probably end up going to the sale barn. If I time breeding right, I can take kids in March/April. They're paying $2/lb in March/April here these days for 50-70lb kids. I'm hoping I can run 15-20 does here. 1.5 kids per doe x 20 does = 30 kids x 50lbs x $2/lb = $3,000.00 I'll get paid back for my $3500 fence eventually. Labor would be another $3500 for me. There are a lot of property owners around here that don't live on their land. They use it for recreational purposes so I think I can probably find some that will let me put goats on their place. Might even be able to charge them a little. Maybe someday I can run 200 does and end up with $30,000.00 a year.

Kikos are a hardy breed from new zealand you hit the nail on the head with that from what i could research they are a breed that don't get as many parasites as other breeds so you cut down on the amount of medication that you have to give the animal over its life time they also sever a dual purpose of being both a dairy and a meat goat I wish i had some as i would love to make some goat milk soap :D
