Please use some good speakers/headphones, listen for the high-end loss when there's no buffer pedal in the chain. I chose to use two of my brightest sounding guitars on purpose ;)

IMPORTANT: Ideally you should always have an INPUT buffer (between the guitar and pedalboard) and an OUTPUT buffer (from the pedalboard to the amp), especially if you run a long cable/have many pedals in series (at the time of making this video I only had one buffer pedal). The OUTPUT buffer from your pedalboard to the amp strengthens the signal and fixes the loss in level and especially high end. The INPUT buffer makes your guitar react as if it was actually connected to the amp input (which in most cases is around 1 mega-ohm), helping the pickups react the way they're supposed to!

This is the BEST buffer showcase I’ve ever seen especially because I too run a few pedals into the front of my AxeFx! I had signal high end loss and was running my guitar into first on board pedal being a Boss CS3 compressor (buffered) with its tone and sustain on full! Seems to work a little bit but I’m wondering if this buffer would be a better solution?

I have tried to the two buffer thing and it does not always sound good. I tried an input buffer and an output buffer with one of my amps and pedals and the sound became too bright and shrill. Some pedals did not like it and sounded weird. Decided that the output buffer was enough. That worked out for me, but with another rig an input buffer is enough. Interesting how these things work. But at least having one buffer is a good idea as you can tell the difference. It does help.

WOW! What a difference - Thanks for the demo! Do you feel a buffer pedal more relevant to a guitar with passive pickups? My Strat has EMG SA's, so of course they are active and have that extra bit of boost at the front end.

Rocco amo i tuoi video, continua così.

Hi man, great video, i have almost the same pedal you have but my chain is Guitar-wah-flanger-phaser-chorus-preamp-delay-power amp. The deal is that i saw some videos about the mxr chorus compared with another chorus it really sucks tone. The jhs guy made a video talking about buffers and he said sometimes should be good having a buffer in the beginning of the chain and another at the end of the chain. Do you think it should be a good idea? How about amp loop? Sometimes to place pedals in the loop we need to run long cable from the amp to the board and beck to amp again, theoretically we should have tone sucking by doing this, do you think is a good idea put a buffer in the loop too?

@@RoccoPezzin I am a newbie. I only have JTC NUX Drum & Loop so that I can practice with the drums, and record some backing tracks and my music composition ideas. and I also have TC Electronic PolyTune 3 (coming soon) which has the BonaFide Buffer built in and I will soon test if it makes any difference either at the front or at the end of my poor man's pedal board. nobody really says it, but to me it seems like the buffer must be an active signal enhancer, sort of the preamplifier with the graphic equalizer, which bumps the higher frequencies, as they are most vulnerable to the long cables and other reasons for the signal loss. so it would make more sense to me to put the buffer at the very end of the path, to boost the diminished high frequencies. if we boost the higher frequencies at the beginning of the signal path, they will still get deteriorated on the "long" way to the amp. but of course this is just based on my newbie logic, I will stand corrected as soon as my PolyTune3 arrives. Or when someone experienced explains it better than me and / or corrects my theory.
@RoccoPezzin
@RoccoPezzin 2 жыл бұрын
You're not wrong when talking about the importance of the buffer at the end of the chain, but what's also important to take into consideration is that an input buffer (a good one) makes your guitar believe it's actually connected to the amp input, which in most cases is around 1 mega-ohm, and makes the pickups react the way they're supposed to, if that makes sense. I too have the Polytune 3 mini as tuner/input buffer and a Bonafide as the output one, that's the perfect setup imo

Wouldn't a boss tuner of done Rocco in front or any other buffer bypass pedal instead of wasting pedal board space! That mxr chorus will do the same for your effects loop won't it? Peter Cross yep imo the buffer on the TU-3 isn't as good as the Tc one, plus I normally use a clip tuner so I didn't really need another in pedal form...also the BonaFide is super small, with shorter patch cables I could save even more space :)
