a nice workaround for using cheaper non-rotating lasers outdoors without a detector/receiver is to use your mobile phone... if you put it on selfie mode, then when you slide the phone up and down a surface (as you did at 8:30) the moment your camera lens is at the height of the laser you will see the glare on the screen and can then mark that height. admittedly, it's not going to have the accuracy or the range of the unit featured here but if "good enough" is all you need it works pretty well.

We learnt to use one a long time ago when I did my engineering degree. After falling out of love with construction for various reasons I decided to study Archaeology at Uni where the experience became relevant again finding archaeological layers. Then when we acquired our farm I was able to level in so much by myself and it was just the job when I built the barns and the shop. Always useful to have and would not be without one.

Same here. Blew my mind when learning to use one but I left the industry too! Be nice to have one on hand (or renting one) for garden projects etc.

There are so much rotating lasers. Good to see one working great.

Thanks so much! my Johnson laser level is coming today and I am excited to receive it and go outside and start measuring. I’ve got about 500 feet or more of French drain to install over a wide area and this level will help me get the slope correct. Your video will give me a quick start again thanks.

Excellent clear and informative video, I wished i had invested in a laser level when i built my garden railway , I used a sprit level which is very hit and miss on long runs, I found out that the hard way !
@Scholar30202 жыл бұрын
You can buy receivers separately and use them with non rotating lasers as long as they have a pulse /outdoor mode.
@C4sp3r1232 жыл бұрын
That's the setup I have. It came a kit a few years back and is quite handy for certain jobs such as doing my fence and getting the top of the posts all at the same height over a distance so it looked good. I think you can get coloured glasses that allow you to see the laser outside.

After watching your first video I went ahead and bought a green lazer which works really well. Before that it was a line and bubble. Which worked out great for my garden build, but would have being a lot easier with a Imex. Very informative video. Anyway Stuart i thought you were supposed to be retired, if you had a project of 400 metres that would be 300 metres outside of retirement by my estimation.

I didn't know I wanted one of these, but now I do. I'll hold off until I actually need it though, but super neat to understand how they work and what you can use them for. Thank you as always!

I have just bought this laser level on Amazon for £66 and it now comes with two rechargeable batteries. Also regarding the adjustable base that comes with it I’ve removed the plate holding the three adjustable feet and then used the cap screw on my tripod foot that is now long enough to attach the level to use on my tripod.

That is a great bit of kit for the price. Used a Lecia one a good few time last year for setting out of window installations, floor levels etc. Loved it. Great bit of craic.

A good video and well explained about the different uses, the demonstrations really help explain rather than just being talked about. I am curious if this is a sponsored video or not, it was hard to tell as you didn't say if you had been sent the item or if you had bought it (unless I missed that)? I thought it was good and useful regardless though I do like to know (and I believe the ASA require you to declare in an easily visible way) if it is. I don't have an issue with sponsored content as I appreciate the time and effort that goes into these videos.
@afnankhokhar55782 жыл бұрын
It is a sponsored video. There was a popup message at the start that says it's paid content, or something to that effect

I've bought the Imx E60 but was disappointed with the build quality. I know it's a DIY grade product but I've returned the E60 and plan to buy the DeWalt DCLE34031D1-GB. The detector is extra so not cheap but is rugged.

i liked this discussion about a tool...sponsored or not we found our 3 axis laser to be great inside but doesn't work outside.
@howardbecdove97802 жыл бұрын
Great video. Any chance of seeing any sort of project with it? I find that reinforces the concept. I’m desperate to learn more. With that model, can it be used indoors, without a detector, using the beams. If it does, then I will try and get that model. Thanks so much for the content.

I thought that at first when he was walking out, but understood when he mentioned the difference in height of each position. If he had set up the other way around the laser would be too low and get blocked by the ground in-between.

Given the time, effort and expense that goes into producing regular content for your entertainment, it’s pretty unfair IMO to suggest there be no sponsored content. I don’t think he should spend his retirement buying and making stuff to keep you entertained for a few $$ from KZbin ads.
@madds66782 жыл бұрын
I personally couldn’t give a f@*k if it is being sponsored he creates great videos & reviews good gear that diyers can buy at a reasonable price he’s an good guy giving his time up to help us & maybe makes a few quid out of it ( there’s plenty more doing it) & might get free tools but I’m sure if he gets something that’s crap he’d be honest enough not to endorse it & as for the boundary video I don’t see what was so embarrassing about it.
