My Theory is A Death of their enjoyment of vanguard. For me because in the opening Kagetsu has his younger self as a reflection. I think kagetsus Mystichs are the cards that are the things testing him for his own trial. As is stated by him Vesisrugr is a unit that seeks for the truth. Kagetsu may have heard this answer after his fight with Michiru in the pro league and maybe broke Kagetsu to the point of he has no idea why he plays vanguard. Thats probably why he ask people that question because he doesnt have a answer as well, Just like Akina. Maybe the reason he calls Vesisrugr is his avatar is become the both seek for the truth or answer to that question

@@godsman00 For me I think he is going to gain a answer from akina and from each person he fights maybe finally figuring out for himself why he plays vanguard by understanding different points. As Kagetsu seems to be searching for an answer. Also I feel like the reason he asked Akina is because he could see Akina is lost in that sort of aspect. Even going more with the fact that Vesisrugr is a unit searching for truth. If the trials are being done to both akina and Kagetsu who knows maybe Suoh, Nao or even Erika and Kuon could be put into these trials as well. Also I really wonder who this voice is because it seems just by hearing it or remembering it makes Kagetsu break down or become more emotionless. Seeing these new perspectives on what vanguard is to others and what vanguard might be what Kagetsu needs. Suoh understands what he wants out of Vanguard which is to fight opponents which is why I think that reason he has Blangdmire Nexus as it's not the reaper of zero nor the fated one who wants to know what zero is anymore. But went away from zero because Akina made him remember why he played vanguard. I feel like DivineZ has been building up to this since season 1

I really appreciate that the anime actually goes into analyzing the real strategy of deckthinning. It showcases to the younger audience or those just getting into the game the importance of deck compression. Very fitting for the character that has the role of mentor for Nao and now Akina

That deck was insane. It’s like they perfecting Orfist. Beyond that interesting that Akina had immediate self questioning the moment he was ask: Why did you do Vanguard? This is relatable in soo many way for me. Sometimes just that question of “Why you doing what you do” can inflicted self reflection. Very intriguing theme they brought this season. We're two episodes in and Kagetsu already captured my attention. I previously had this misconception that he would just be another super powerful character that the protagonist needs to surpass. But it's obvious that this guy also has some serious lore. We know from episode 1 that he is an ex-pro but dipped out for reasons no one but him (and presumably the owner of the mysterious voice in his head) knows. Combine that with his behavior after asking Akina the "Why do you play Vanguard?" question, the very question that actually haunts him till now, we can assume that he has a very strong reason to stop playing competitively. He didn't truly abandon the game though since he still plays with the kids in his neighborhood and keeps in touch with Nao. He just don't enter official tournaments anymore. It also helps differentiate him from Michiru. Both are marketed as in-universe pros among the pros but one continues to pursue greater height and greater opponents while the other is more laid-back and assumes a master/mentor role for the story. Speaking of the master/mentor role, kinda like how his deck is ties to the theme of trial and cards that bend deck-building rules such as the 16 copies of the "foot soldier" unit. There is also the Keter Sanctuary unit (that hopefully also has deck-building-rules-bending effect, maybe something like "You can put this card in your deck if your ride deck has a 'Veissrugr' card"). Sidenote: love that the ED also features Kyoma among the characters that has significant relation to Erika. Kinda makes sense since both are now people of Taizo's company. Maybe a fight between her and Kyoma is possible.

Yeah no joke, he turned out to be way more interesting than any of us bargained for, especially so early on! The bit on the bridge was so shocking, and the nature of his deck tying into his character (which you dig into excellently btw) is quality vanguard anime right there boi. Now I wonder what his role in the greater scheme of things will be. Perhaps the sacrificial mentor figure like Michiru? Or something more sinister? Can we talk about how Hikari actually got her wish fulfilled from last season just finally without the mental corruption part. A major plot point of this season is Akina finding out why he continues to play the game despite all the stakes being over, and he can't accept the fact that he just plays for fun now because all he's ever known was using Vanguard as a medium to cure his sister and resolve the conflicts and internal turmoil of others rather than focusing ever on himself, we see the confrontation of this when Hikari calls him out last season but because of mental corruption her methods of doing so were extreme that she wanted to tackle it at the source (10 years ago) rather than dealing with it as it is now, but despite losing the Destined Showdown and no wishes actually being granted from Design Force she still got her wish in the end because this whole season is basically manifested from her original desire for Akina to focus more on himself (I still think she should've won though last ep lmao, I don't condone not eating veggies but I find it was so out of nowhere she lost that easily in a basic persona turn imo) Also we still don't know who the last 3 players of Deluxe are, we only know 13 and Deluxe is a 16 player event with how the blocks work unless they completely changed the format for Deluxe 3 without telling us yet lmao

@godsman00 every Destined One has pretty much got their wish in a way like the Fated Ones after their games in the Fated Clash. Kuon is finally friends with Suo again and in contact, Taizo is taking his duty as mentor, pro, and CEO more seriously thanks to Kyohma's support, Yuna while didn't exactly get her wish as being Mi-tan she's close friends with her idol and overall inspiration so it still counts, Senka finally gets to fight Nao in a grand tournament on equal footing, Hikari gets her wish granted through this season's main plot, and of course Jinki got his wish fulfilled ever since Sybilt was defeated. I'm personally really excited for Megumi, her being in set 8 gives me more hope that they'll do her right this season considering she was important enough to be put besides Suo who seems to be a spotlight this season and of course Raika who they always try to find room to show off. Next episode is going to be thrilling or at least I hope, I still wish Mirei got a new outfit lmao

Hello, everyone. I came to here to make some mythical trivia of today's main unit, Veissrugr. First of all, Ride Line's Repsold, Fresnel, Ramsden is the name of the moon's crater. Second, Veissrugr's trivial name might came from Gullveig, a Norse Mythology's Witch. Also, it has a relation with Freyja, as Gullveig is her alternative. Third, the Order Card, Eilift Gullmani is the Eilift means Immortal in Old Norse Language, Gull is Gold, and Mani is Moon. Extra information is that Gullinbursti is Gold Boar in Norse Mythology makes the sense as the Veissrugr shining in gold on the illustration. Also, with the Ravnorowg might came from Huginn and Muninn, the pair of ravens that serve under the god Odin. These were my mythical trivias. Also, there might be two more Mythischs as "Gullveig was pierced by spears before being burnt three times" mentioned it. And the opening had 3 Mythischs. Also, the mystery of Griffin-shaped Mythisch was given to Akina, which was the name of Mythisch of Miracles. *On the moon's crater, there were actual name of Lacus Doloris, Mortis, Timoris, Oblivionis which is related to Bang Dream! Veissrugr is such a cool deck. A deck that deck thins and makes good columns while having a defensive effect. It is also in BG so Eldobreath is closer each time you rest that order. Biggest issue with the deck is, like prison, probably drawing the set order in your opening hand. I don't know if it is actually worth running more than 1 of the set order, but it might be worth considering if the cost isn't too great. It is just more deck thinning after all. Good generics to consider are Baldareid - your entire deck is basically G2 and greater so there's no worry of whiffing and it helps build soul if necessary. Energy cycler and maybe the pride cycler are always good considerations, but running habitable zone might be the secret OP card. Imagine playing 2 of the normal orders for +10k or +20k for units called by effects But probably the best part of the deck is how "friendly" it is to beginners. You can probably just use the cards from this set for most of your deck.

These are good breakdowns, I'm also curious what costs these cards will have as that'll help determine which cyclers to run out of the options you've mentioned. I get the impression there wasn't a lot of energy being eaten up so perhaps Pansmermia will be a useful card, especially if we get more good G3 cards 🤔. Oh and the beginner friendly point is definitely cool, kinda makes me wonder if this wouldn't have made for a good trial deck instead.

This deck that has like what, 20+ grade 2 units and those grade 2 can intercept boost, and guard skills. It's persona ride turn with ridiculous 4, 40k or highter attacks. If shiranui gets banned with it's RightHand stealth dragon Fuurai, hopefully there an actual number limit of how many of these moon units can be put in deck.

Veissrugr actually seems interesting, but we need to see the specifics of the skills of the units. Knowing what the wolf does as well, I am now curious as to what the other two Mythichs we saw in the opening can do. I assumed Kagetsu was the 1st Blackout leader, but based on the conversation of Michiru and Danji, Danji doesn't know Kage in a personal level. So unless Danji somehow was able to become leader without knowing about Kage, then who is the actual 1st leader of Blackout, and what is the purpose of this setup. Also it really looks like Kagetsu is gonna have a sort of dark backstory to explain what happened to him during the year he went out of the spotlight. What I wanna know is who asked him that question. Also something I noticed, the griffin has Veissrugr's moon symbol on it's chest, so I wonder what the implications for that is. Considering we're still getting new character songs, my guess is Suzune's is going to be girl rock or metal, cuz it fits the aesthetic for polyphonic.

well going off of the dialogue going on when the griffin's card was shown, and what I can make out of the card text, the first half of its name is "Mythisch of Miracles". So I think the fancy moon crest is some sort of common identifier for the entire archetype/race/whatever you wanna call it. Interesting that they have members outside of Brandt Gate at all though... There could honestly still be some supernatural shenanigans or deep Cray lore happening though, given that Kagetsu was going on about Veissrugr wanting to test the Archangel of Miracles, only to cough up a card for a Miracle-themed Mythisch after the trial concluded (one that wouldn't even be legal for his own deck).

So I was reading on the wiki about Cray, something I noticed was that the nation of Brandt Gate was actually created to prepare and combat the return of the 'Void.' As it is a Brandt Gate deck, I think the Mystichs are testing certain humans if they will be capable to face the oncoming threat as their actions do impact Cray. Akina is a Keter player, so I think one of the Mystichs changed nations to watch and test Akina as shown when Kagetsu gave him that card.

Also, last note but I see Mirei winning her battle with Gui as a testament to her growth. I also think that she’ll face Suzune later this season with them taking about what it means to be a leader. Suzune is a model due to obligation, and her family needs her to be strong, which mirrors what Mirei was like in the the second season

I think this is a really interesting route for them to explore with Akina, considering his character has been fixated around other things, both the Fated and Destined showdowns, it kinda puts everything into perspective. It makes sense why he’s having a hard time finding a reason to fight, and it’s interesting how much remorse/anger Kagetsu shows when he’s on his own. Really appreciate how chill Kagetsu feels as a mentor, and next week’s fight is insane. Gui should still be one of the strongest fighters in the show considering he was able to beat Michiru, so I’m really curious to see how Mirei will fight him.

Also wanted to give my opinion on Veissrugr I think it’s future function is going to have a focus on Rear Guards like Nirvana or Blaster decks Kagetsu gives off main character energy to me and I feel that the opening is displaying other rear guards as opposed to other Veissrugr forms. Those are my thoughts on the deck I will be purchasing soo many Cerulean Blaze & Moon Fangs packs 😅.

An episode we really wished we should’ve officially gotten after it was first showcased, but while I watched it prior without subs, I’ll still put my thoughts here. Veissrugr (finally got the name right and is one of the cooler units) plays in a basic way, being a combination of other Brandt Gate decks like B Heroes and Gravidia. But aesthetically, it looks a lot cooler and really plays into the Gatekeeper theme, summoning an army rather than having multiple forms as first presumed. It’d be interesting if those forms had the ability to shift based on the situation kinda like Numbers in Yugioh. Kagetsu himself is a true rival to Akina. His strategy of deck-thinning is inversed to Akina recycling triggers, and doing the opposite of something usually strengthens a rivalry between characters. But Kagetsu, the mentor and good rival he is, actually provides good advice to Akina and even gives him an opportunity for a rematch, something characters like Raika didn’t do for Yuyu. Akina’s question on why he plays Vanguard also alludes to Divine-Z new direction now that the Design Force saga has ended. Finding a new path certainly parallels last season’s question as to what Akina wishes for, and it’s good conflict to help him grow more as a character. The writing’s still strong, even paying off last episode’s Celery Hell (Look at the dinner scene), and it’ll truly give an interesting explanation as to why Kagetsu thinks that way. Speaking off which, Kagetsu’s seemingly emotionless expression seems to play into something bigger pulling the strings, and when Divinez says “kill”, you know it’ll be literal. So let’s see what happens with the next 13+ weeks. And finally, we get Kagetsu’s battle theme, the first theme of any Brandt Gate player, and its jazzy vibe is perfectly thematic to the funny love triangle they’re building this season (wink wink). Overall, episode 2 gave us a taste of something big, cause there’re definetly more Mythischs to be revealed, so hopefully we’ll get more Kagetsu. And I really wished they’d uploaded episode 2 officially earlier this week then put episode 3 today, cause I don’t think we can hide the hype of a Dragontree/Sealed Blaze face off. Oh yeah. Love the professional suit. You should wear it more often.

Akina actually has it worse than the usual protagonist faced with the "why do you play the game?" question...because he's only played with high stakes in mind from the very beginning. Every fight between the fated/destined ones was training, even if he did enjoy some of it. He'd _never_ played for himself, much less purely for fun, unlike almost everyone else in the DivineZ cast.

Ayo 1 hour, suits, on episode 2?!?! Calm down brother safe those for the finale lol. After back to back high stakes seasons it's nice to go back to a more grounded story ala Overdress, where in this case it's about Akina's self discovery. It's really interesting cuz in a way this is kind of a continuation of his struggles in season 2, where he has no personal preferences and wishes. Which is kinda sad if you considered the fact that our boy grew up with no mom, dad's always working and constantly taking care of Hikari, essentially forced to grow up. So unlike Hikari who's doing Vanguard for fun, he never experience his own idea of 'fun'. And as for Kagetsu I like the guy. A nice mixture of Danji's brotherly vibes, Taizo's mentorship and Michiru's aloofness and mysterious air. Which btw hol up, didn't know you're both a security guard AND a chef, cuz you be cooking on those Kagetsu breakdown. Sorry got a bit wordy here.The things that having subtitles do lol.

Though it's still an interesting story, and what Akina goes through is reminiscent of Yuma/Jaden in the Yu-Gi-Oh animes, where they lose sight of why they played vanguard after all the catastrophic stakes they went through in their battles. Lol hey it just happened that way, no worries if anything I'll probably struggle to keep it under an hour for the finale if it's as fire as this episode!

22:06 Looks like Kagetsu doesn't have any Soul or Energy remaining. If I had to guess, the moon seems to have eaten into his Energy, judging by his full soul count at 14:24 being unchanging. Hard to get shots of the Energy Generator till the end, but we know he went second, and he didn't rest it while at grade 1. So perhaps it costs Energy Blast (4) to further emphasize Veissrugr making the second use of it free, while keeping you from activating it turn 1. Or you can only deck thin up to your vanguards grade making it undesirable to use first ride. Roztnir (The Wolf) seems to eat his soul. When Kagestu rode grade 3, 16:57 for split frame you can see he 3 cards in soul then at 18:26 his soul is at is 1. So I suppose Roztnir needs to Soul Blast (2) for what it does. 49:50 If Sephirgila is anything but Nationless, it would be kind of hard to fit it anywhere else in the set. All the other grade 3 slots are taken already at RRR, except number 19. Hmm... suppose that's why they released the new Wretches last set, as an early preview to who Gui is playing this season.

Ok, here goes my theories. 1) I'm thinking that Akina is going to give the Fated king to Suo. My reasoning comes from the opening and the new Blangdmire. In the opening we don't see Vita anywhere, but we do see Empireo, and we know that the new Blangdmire has what it looks like Rezaels sword, so I'm thinking that Akina is going to give it to Suo to help him defeat Suzune and make her walk out of the feeling of nothingness she has, as the "One walking away from Zero". (Or the reason for Empireo appearing in the opening is that Kuon finally decided to play Levidras well and started running Empireo in the ride deck) 2) I do think that the thing with Kagetsu is that he doesn't have the answer of why he plays vanguard, and someone did ask him that question. Who did it? I'm thinking it was the first leader of Blackout, (yes, I think the first leader of Blackout was a woman that Kagetsu fought at the start of his carrer as a Pro fighter), and also the reasoning for that is that Danji talks about like he knows about Kagetsu, but not that he has meet him before. Also I'm thinking that woman was someone important to Kagetsu, and that she died because he tells Nao "you've got to say things while you still can" Also, also the theory of the beasts being for each nation is pretty cool.

@godsman00 no, I don't think it will be a king. I think the card that was created for the design force responds to the user, and becomes what he is, for Akina it was the King, go Suou it will change to something different, we have seen that cards respond to the wishes of beings with Gabwellius. If I have to compare it with something it would be like the depend cards from G that could've become anything, not just one of the 12 Zodiac time beasts (Kanzaki didn't try to get one ZTB, it tried to get something else), or the white cards from buddyfight that became either impacts or a new flag.

I’m not sure that you noticed this but at 28:25 it shows that the grade 2 griffin unit has the same ‘moon gate’ symbol as the other units in Kagetsu’s deck despite it being a unit from Keter. Do you think that means in later episodes Kagetsu will units from other Nations in his deck due to this?

@@godsman00 While the “spooky moon copies” is a possibility I don’t think that is the case because if they wanted to do that why include the symbol on a Keter unit in the first place instead of Akina getting the griffin with no symbol then show Kagetsu with Brandt version of the Griffin with the symbol? What I’m seeing is we have a case of a card usage rulings. These are the examples- 1. The case of Griphogila: since it has no nation it can use cards from other nations but it’s restricted to using one nation at a time. 2. The case of Blaster Dark: since Majesty Lord Blaster needs Blaster Dark to work it can be used in Royal Paladin despite it being a Shadow Paladin. 3. The case of Omega Glendios: with Glendios despite it being a Link Joker its deck can use 1 copy of each clan’s Reverse unit. I think this is the most likely to happen because if we think about what we have seen so far from Kagetsu’s 50 card deck construction (I’m not including the wolf and that power up order card right now); we have 16 triggers, 4 copies of the vanguard/persona ride, 1 copy of the grades 0-2 (a total of 3 cards) for the ride deck, 4 PGs, 1 copy of the Moon Gate, and let’s assume he currently plays the max of 16 of those crows. That leaves 6 cards leftover to be anything Kagetsu wants in his deck. Which means that he can take use those remaining 6 cards and/or remove some of the crows include each nation’s moon gate unit. At least that is what I think what do you think?

Now as for Veissrugr seems like a strong unit and able to deck thin is insane, but I need to see more of this deck in action before I decide to see how strong the deck really is. I'm really interested in the new Griffin card Akina got. Also I can't wait for Episode 3 Deluxe Finally begins and they're going at it showing us the new Bavsargra and Sephirogila right off the bat, can't wait!

My theory that if you look closely at kangestu's eyes there isn't like a black dot and looks to be no emotion. When kangestu was blaming himself for the way he spoke to Akina it kinda sounded out of place. It feels as if kangestu himself isn't acting like the real him, but more of controlled by a unit that's from the moon whom wants to truly understand human connection and what would be the source of their imagination.

Veizrug does looks intresting me does like the idea of him having a first mythisc beast basicly be situational card depending on the nation it be facing do like that idea. Ratios gonna be wild dont think we have to run 16 birds he did mention can run up to 16 copies. Me be like so 20 slots goes to triggers and pgs if we run 16 birds and 3 persona in main deck that already 39 slots 40 if we play 1 copie of the g2 set order than we only have like space for the g3 normal order depending on the ratio's and the wolf if we say we run both 4 copies thats only 2 open slots in the deck left xD But we most likely cut some birds depending what the other mythisc beast gonna do

@@godsman00 ye the wild thing is if we can run multiple copies of the set order idk if we really wanna go that route but lets say we run 3 copies of it to have atm a full deck made from just the cards we know of and lets say by turn 3 we have all 3 copies in the order zone and we know veizrug can reset at minimum 1 (this is just a guessing until we have the full skill tuesday) you basicly filters 12 cards out of the deck 9 before using veizrug skill and the last 3 after veizrug skill and thats just from 1st g3 turn than and than we dont counted the g2 turn that already filtered a little bit already. But thats just assuming we are able to run the set order as multiple copies honestly dont think it will be the smartest thing to do because even with veizrug defensive skill to put mythisc beast from drop to deck to give 5k shield it will not be able to keep up with that filtering xD
