I was a 30 year long cig smoker, I’d occasionally smoke pipes or cigars too. I switched to smoking a pipe only. Now, I smoke 3-4 pipes a day and I don’t have that craving for them like I did for cigs. Man days I’ll only have 1-2 pipes. It’s very relaxing

I agree with you. I could listen to this gentleman talk all day. Us northerners are so fast paced I hate it. I’ve also been smoking a pipe for 20+ years. To answer Mr. Wentzel’s question; this old timer used to walk around my neighborhood smoking a pipe when I was growing up. I respected this man and he looked out for all of us. He was a Marine with some great stories he would tell us while walking around. I loved the smell of his pipe and ask about his pipes and tobacco. He used to blend half and half with Captain black or one other blend. He always had a pipe in his mouth or in his hand. As soon as I could I went and bought myself a pipe and some accessories.

Excellent video brother! I smoke a pipe for the ritual of it. Selecting my pipe and tobacco. Sorting, packing, lighting, and then the best part....enjoying the smoke. It forces me to slow down. And helps me to contemplate. My mental health has also improved immensely. The variety of tobacco and pipes have me addicted. I'm less than 3 years in, but I enjoy every bowl, even the ones that smoked terribly. I have also fallen in love with going to pipe shows, finding teal pipe shops, and the YTPC. Keep your pipe lit brother!

That’s a beautiful pipe. I think I started smoking a pipe for the relaxation and I use it to reflect and sort my thoughts and put down my phone for a while. I got off cigarettes years ago and never really took to cigars but I like a nice quality pipe, a nice quality tobacco that smells good and a good lighter or matches. It’s a relaxing process for me. It helps my mental health

Just recently a new pipe smoker. I,m still getting my feet wet trying out different blends and pipes. I do lean toward aromatic blends and seem to gravitate towards the churchwardens I find they smoke easier for me. I smoke a pipe because my grandpa (who I never met) used to smoke a pipe and I used to get in the drawer and get his pipe out and play with it. I used to like the old smell of it and when I got to the age I am now, I decided that I should give it a try. I really like the smell of tobacco. I don't have much of a taster for it either, but, I'll continue to give it a go and think of my grandpa all the while. Best to you!

You remind me of a childhood neighbor I had. He passed away several years ago. You look and sound just like him. He didn’t smoke pipe but he did smoke camel non filters and drank black coffee. You are spot on with weighing out the bad with bad so to speak. People listen to the government or who ever telling them tobacco is bad bad bad but with pipes they can’t see the forest for the trees. Absolutely love the scenery! Very peaceful! I started smoking a pipe about 8 months ago, to my wife's dismay. For me, it was a sort of nostalgic thing. I went to a lot of trapping conventions and did some bird hunting with my dad as a kid. There were a lot of men involved in those activities that smoked a pipe, and I always enjoyed the smell. Now that I smoke a pipe, I really enjoy the taste of tobacco too. It is a pleasant and relaxing experience!

Good substance doesn't need any extra intro music or words over the video. That Bridge Mixture is a fine smoke. At first, i started smoking a pipe simply to stop smoking cigarettes. But after 2 or 3 bowls, it became much more. I was doing a job in upstate NY, and ended up going nextdoor into Vermont. There was a Tobacconist there, in the snall town i first entered. I picked up a corncob pipe, and an ounce of "Fishermans blend". Or something to that effect. The aroma, the flavor, and the ease that it packed immediately changed my entire view on piping. I was hooked, and i dont think ill ever have another blend that effects me the way that simple blend did. It was the most beautiful few moments of my life, aside from the birth of my son.

In answer to your question, truthfully, i had been a 2+ pack a day cigarette smoker for over 30 years and reached a point in my life where a) it has gotten so expensive to continue that habit. b) i have gotten tired of coughing all the time, and c) I really enjoy the room note smell of a good aromatic tobacco. switching to a pipe, i have noticed that my tobacco use has slowed down considerably, and the personal ritual of packing the pipe, taking the time to smell the rich aromas of the tobacco in the pouch or tin, the fiddly bits of tamping, lighting, centering my mental state, and choosing a relaxing location to enjoy my pipe leaves me contented and satiated. As for blends...i like sweet more than strong, a good beverage and a song, while the world whiles away. for me, pipe smoking takes me back to my younger early days when i was surounded by elders who have long since moved on to those pearly gates and gave me lots of wisdom, advice, and encouragement, oft to the fragrant smoke haze of well worn and beloved pipes.

I guess you could say I come from generational pipe smokers. My great granddad, pawpaw, uncle Tex and my father all smoked a pipe. It's a smell you don't forget as a kid. Kinda like the smell when you strike a zippo or stick welding. AH THE AROMA. I also truly enjoy it, and I find that it helps with my ADHD. Forces me to sit still for a short while. Like you I really enjoy Petersons Early Morning Pipe. Great flavor and aroma.

I'm about to turn 70 years of age, and i remember commercials on tv for cigarettes, of course, but also White Owl cigars, Captain Black, Sir Walter Raleigh, etc. i also remember as a young yard ape asking my Mom, When can i smoke a pipe? I made my third try at it in March 2021 because I needed something to help me unwind from work and my body doesn’t like booze. I guess I started smoking a pipe for a sense of calm. My grandfather smoked and when he passed, I was left his old Peterson. So that's why I started... now why am I still smoking after 30 years? Reminds me a of a more simple time when the world wasn’t all about a list of laws that one has to stick to to be righteous. Just doing what God put in your heart to do. With more slow moments and more meaningful conversation those moments, not so long ago, allowed for growth on a spiritual level.

I have invested two bowls into this question: Why do I smoke a pipe? I have a bunch of reasons....NONE of those reasons matter. When I apply any of the conventions of honesty to the question, the question sort of evaporates with the next puff. I have realized that, as I attend to my pipe, the backside of my mind is more free of distraction. And, that is enjoyable.

“Why not” was my first response. On weekdays I have a bowl after work to relax and watch YTPC videos. On weekends I have a bowl or two in the morning with black coffee. This is usually the time I make videos. Plandemic. I love this. May I use this?

Thats a nice spot to have a smoke. I started smoking a pipe because l used tk smoke backwoods cigars (which is pipe tobacco cigars). Just figured i try smoking the real thing with better tobacco. I find it relaxing. Dont smoke that often though.

I always smoke Peter Stokkebye Proper English every morning with my coffee. Like you said you want to taste the blend and enjoy your coffee. It's the only time I'll usually smoke an English Latakia blend.

I like to smoke a pipe to take a bit of time to pause a turn off the modern world and enjoy the taste of a fine tobacco but I have to laugh when I read reviews and they say they get raisin and blood orange and rum! I just taste tobacco.

Well I stoped as to explain my self years back. As it is, enjoying the Pipe or Cigar and God forbid with some strong as to go along as Scotch/Borboun oh my! One are of them lowest of low! A maggot! One gentlemen came to me why? -Why? Why not? I replied. I like it, ok? I do no coke no haschish no heroin, no pills, no steroids but I am the one as to explain my self?
