I'm a white artist and it's ridiculously hard to find references about how dark skin heals and scars. Thank you for this video. Also--doctors have spoken about how the lack of representation leads to black lives lost :\

blacks are always complaining about their poor health and always blaming the medical industry. the cancers, the hypertension, the this the that the other - GET OUT IN THE SUN. YOUR SKIN REQUIRES MINIMUM TWO HOURS OF SUN EACH DAY TO GET YOUR MINIMUM REQUIREMENT OF VITAMIN D. WHY DON'T YOU GO OUTSIDE?? GET THE FRESH D NOT FROM A PETROLEUM-BASED CAPSULE FROM CHINA WITH GOD-KNOWS-WHAT'S-IN-IT, BUT FROM THE SUN. AND NOW RESEARCH WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU WHEN YOU HAVE A SEVERE VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY AND THEN KINDLY STFU ABOUT THE LACK OF ATTENTION, BOO HOO. YOU DON'T TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES. YES, THE SCARRING IS A SEPARATE ISSUE, BUT YOU MIGHT NOT NEEEEEEED SURGERIES FOR TUMORS, ETC., IF YOU EAT RIGHT AND GET SOME DAMN SUNSHINE - DAILY. THINK AFRICA. JFC

Lack of representation... Of scars? Leads to lives lost? Tf are you talking about
@lavenderhuman Жыл бұрын
@@mrdgenerate many skin conditions we only typically recognise by how they look on pale skin. For example, rashes can look different on white skin vs black skin. So if you as a doctor only know how to recognise one on a white person, you’re gonna miss out on a whole area of symptoms

Great work on this video. The worst thing about lack of imagery for black skin is that practitioners don't even bother asking you whether they can take pictures of your healing/scars after surgery or not. They just assume that there are already enough visuals out there, so they never ask. Thank you for sharing.

Writing a story, and some of my characters have medium dark brown skin - and I don’t know what scars would look like on that skin shade! It’s so ridiculously difficult to find proper references online for specific scarring too. Thank you for making this video and all the people who presented info in it, it helped me a lot! 💕🌸🌻

Thank you for making this video! I'm a white doctor working in a maternity ward and I've found it extremely embarrassing informing my black patients about how their c-section scars are gonna heal, because I've realized how uneducated I am on the subject! This desperately needs more attention and education!

I love this video because when I was 12 I had a major knee surgery and I had sixteen stitches going down the front of my knee , a long scar behind my knee where I had dissolvable stitches and I have three scars on my hip that are like yours because they also had to perform surgery on my hip and I’ve always been insecure about showing off my scars .

i would put iodine on those every day, all day, until they were GONE. keep a bottle of iodine tincture and keep applying it with a qtip every time you step into the bathroom - for as long as it takes.
