There's a building in gen 1 with a door facing the opposite direction from the camera. Iirc you have to figure out it's there by going inside and seeing it from across the counter. If you go around the back of the building you can enter the door from where the camera can't see it. I think you needed to do that to get upstairs.

tbf not ALL houses face the same direction, some of the buildings in Rustboro seem to have no door, but they actually DO have a door, we just can't see it because it's facing the other way
